You saved my Vinotemp wine fridge. I have an older model with only a two-prong. I recently purchased a new relay to see if that works. Initially, it did not. After watching your video, I intuitively switched the wires and the temperature stabilized.
Thank you for your great video. Need help with my Vinotemp VT-27 ST. The Vinotemp Relays costs $60+ while cellar was $200 years ago from Costco. Tested three pins from the compressor with continuity. Similar relays from Amazon can kick on the compressor. Heard the clicking sound from time to time. However, temperature will go up with compressor getting warm. Any suggestion.
Great video! It helped me ID my bad compressor. Now I can’t find a compressor for my Vinotemp VT-188. The original manufacturer is HUAYI compressor model HYE60Y42. I was informed by Vinotemp that the compressor was no longer available and that I could look for compressor with similar specs: R134a, 1/5 HP/600BTU/115VOLTS AC/60HZ. Do you know of a replacement compressor?
@@SubZeroSpecialists: Does it matter if some of the specs are not exactly the same? Such as HP, BTU’s (within a range?) While still Having the same volts, Hz, and refrigerate.
@@FreddytheGamma you could use any compressor that’s close to the specs so long as it’s the same refrigerant and voltage, you could also try Danfos compressors. Also pay attention to the physical size of the compressor-check the height, make sure it will fit the space.
Why amperage multiplier is 6? I hooked the compressor directly as in your video, bypassing starter, overload, and circuit board. The label says "Locked rotor 15.6A R134a HBA052858", and it draws 4.1Amp. Is it fine or too much? After running almost 15 min the compressor became very hot, and the fridge didn't cool at all. What could be a problem? I have Vinotemp VT-46TS-2Z.
Thank you for posting this video. I have a vinotemp wine cooler, model VT-27TS, started by not cooling, I finally pulled it out its cabinet housing, the compressor was very hot and clicking. I tested the compressor (run, then quick touch to start terminal) and compressor did not start. Any idea where I can purchase a compressor for this?
Thank you getting back to me. It’s made by Huay, not sure about the btu, but it says, “B25H5”. For the wiring, yes common to the top of the triangle and hot to the right side terminal (run). I have to admit though, not sure if I did the jump to “start” correctly.
@@alexedward1250 Never heard of that brand, it’s probably made in China. Does the compressor say what the LRA (locked rotor amps) are. If you divide that number by 6 you’ll get the run amps and that may signify the hp (horse power). Based on the model number it could be a 250 btu compressor. What type of Freon?
@@SubZeroSpecialists i’m not sure,. How do I look that up? I think I just got scammed, bought this VT-32 used and the guy showed me a video where he changes temperature claiming it worked fine… 24 hours later I plugged it in and I get the LL message, clicking sound and blinking LL and coolers light. It does not make sound when you push the temperature up and down buttons, and that’s the video he made for me.
Sounds like you have a bad compressor. To confirm check the amperage draw. Look on the compressor label for the LRA (Locked rotor amps) and divide by 6, that will give you the run amps. The reason why the compressor is clicking off is probably because it's drawing too many amps, that would indicate internal damage.
@@raidergainzx5290 A hot compressor could indicate unnecessary friction inside but the amp draw would also be high. If you're drawing 2-3 amps above normal I would suspect the compressor.
Very comprehensive, but your drawing was wrongly labeled - you may want to look at that again. Also - suggest you have a camera man so they camera doesn't move around so much.
What made this even better, your voice sounds just like robert deniro. 😅. Thanks for the vid. Helped me a lot.

You can use an Embraco 1/5 hp 600 btu.

If your locked rotor amps is 15.6 then your run amps should be around 2.5, it sounds like you a faulty compressor.
What was the solid relay u use for start the comp. in the last segments of this video? picture and description , please.

Who made the compressor and how many BTUS is it
When you tried to start the compressor did you connect one wire to the common terminal and the other to the run winding?

Would the compressor feel hot to touch as well? Debating changing the switch or just buy a compressor and do it all at once.

You're right about the labeling of the start and run winding on the relay. As for the camera, man maybe in the future.
