....I don't believe it. This horrendous noise has been driving my whole family absolutely bonkers for 6 months. I rearranged the freezer and it's gone. You sir have saved all of our sanities. Thank you so much
Thanks a lot! This suddenly started after a 9-hour power outage. The freezer must have frozen over thru and thru. After the blackout the fridge greeted us with this horrendous noise (that was even heard upstairs!). I quite frankly immediately lost hope, but then having recovered and found my way back to my computer I started searching and found this video. You are the man!!! Thank you for saving our KitchenAid frenchdoor fridge. After crawling on the floor thawing my freezer evaporator fan deep within the bottom freezer section using a hair dryer a shard of ice flew in my face -- not fatally :) -- and the fan got super quiet. I moved the dryer for another minute or two along the bottom panel (without removing it) and called it a night (it was 11 PM). In the morning I completely forgot it happened. THANK YOU
Thanks a million !!!! My freezer was sounding like a jet plane taking off !! Even my cat was freaking out ! I followed your instructions minus removing the back panel and HALLELUJAH, all is quiet again ! Im a senior woman and I can’t imagine how much a repair man would have charged , but thanks to you ,it cost me zero ! Plus , it forced me to clean out my outdated freezer items ! Keep up the wonderful service you’re performing . Lots of us have very tight budgets and appreciate your help… God bless !😊
This morning we woke up with this fridge problem . We are not in the very good situation to buy a new one at the moment and I am panicking a lot but after researching I found your video . I will do it right now hopefully works and save my life 😊😊
Thank you!! My friend called me she had exactly the same noise I found this video sent it to her and she was so thankful. She was about to call a repair company.
Mate! You’re a lifesaver!!! My fridge started doing this horrible noise. It was driving us crazy. What happened was I had taken food out for dinner and stuffed a loaf of bread back in. It was pushing the panel against the fan! Moved the bread, problem solved!!!
I was ready to take the whole back panel off, but then you saved the day with this video. In my case I realized the noise started a week ago after we stuffed a large frozen lasagna in the freezer. Thank you! Thank you!
It’s 4 am and my fridge just started making this horrible noise that sounded like a helicopter was about to land in my kitchen. Of course my fridge waited until my hubs went out of town for a week for work to decide to do this on night three. Thank Goodness I came across your video! Step 2, unloading the fridge and taking a hairdryer to the vent on the bottom did the trick. I am WOMAN hear me ROAR! I fixed it! Thank you from the bottom of my ❤.
LEGIT last night we came and our fridge left open. And i just watched your video and our problem solved. We melt the excess ice and works. Thanks for sharing. I just wanna share better use electric fan for saver side when melting your ice. God bless
Ok thank you. Just thank you. I live in an apt Freezer making noises so landlord said it was overstuffed ( wasn’t). Threw out 3/4 of food . Still noise. Ice buildup was sticking the plate to the fan. I figured this out from your video . Thank you so much . I was really really frustrated
Here I was trying to fix my refrigerator at 12am,thank you so much,I was overstuff frost was every where cleaned it up and crickets… No more noise. Thank you, thank you!
Oh my god !!! You are amazing ! I was about to buy a new fridge!!!! After I used hair dryer around the back panel, my fridge sounds like a sleeping baby !!!!!
I Googled the issue first and of course the first few results were from manufacturers suggesting expensive repairs or a replacement. The issue was frost buildup like you said, thanks a million!
Thank you for making this video!!! I turned off my freezer, unstuffed it, used the hair dryer to melt the accumulated ice and after about 5 mins I turned the freezer back on and NO NOISE 😅🎉!!! Didn’t even have to remove the panels. Thanks again!!!!
That was so simple! Thank you! At the back of my freezer drawer items got pushed up against the serrated backs which clearly need air flow!!! Thank you!
Yes. I ve had this same annoying sound/issue inside my (about 3 years old ) GE double door freezer/fridge.Usually a hair dryer quiets that awful noise.
Thank you so much! A lot of the videos that I had to replace apart. It gave me the confidence to mess with my fridge, all I had to do was put a screw driver and stop my fan 3 times and it completely went away. You’re a life saver my poor ears!!!!
hi there,, i am from Peru but living in Thailand,,,, i had this helicopter noise on the fridge and didn't nkow what to do,,,, i kept checkng and turning on and off the fridge,,,, as i sleep down stairs and work at home,, it was driving me crazy and also worrying me,,, till i came to this video,,, i follow instructions took the bags out from the fam and great,,, noise stop!! amazing video
Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺 We had that helicopter noise too very annoying 😑. Our freezer was sitting on minus 7 ° we increased it to minus 18° the helicopter noise not as loud I'll give it 24hrs and see how it purrs. Thanks again for tips and tricks 😊
That video was super useful. I had already tried unloading and reloading the freezer with no improvement. After the video, I looked closer at the grid over the evaporator fan and found ice which must have been around the fan blades. 15 min with a hair dryer and problem solved.
Tech Tip. When you reinstall a screw into plastic use a screwdriver and first turn the screwdriver COUNTER CLOCK WISE a half turn or so until you feel or hear the screw drop into the plastic thread. This will align the screw with the threads and prevent the thread from being stripped out! This applies to any screw going into plastic.
thank you thank you! you save my life with this noise, I forgot my freezer open last night walk up with the helicopter noise but now it's over, thank you again.
I have less stuff in my freezer now and I made sure the vents aren't blocked. I turned my refrigerator off for about 2 hours. That was enough to stop the noise. If needed later I'll try turning it off for 24 hours. Thanks!
got a new freezer, and it made this noise. I just changed the place where I put my ice tray, and it stopped making that noise. Thank you so much. I was so scared.
Thank you! I tackled mint this past weekend, I am sore as hell from trying to get that back panel back in place but everything worked out great. My wifes hair dryer was the key for deicing. Thanks Man!
My question is this a temporary solution and will it happen again within two years vs replacing a part so we won’t have to do this again in two years? Cause my GE freezer is making the same sounds
@@Nikohhh04 If you note where the air vents are in your freezer & make sure these vents aren't blocked, then you shouldn't have them icing over again. At least that's what caused my problem.
I also jammed a knife and pieces of cardboard into some holes to move the plastic panel away from the fan (successful for a while), and I was two minutes away from getting my heat gun 😅 you're in my head man!
So did the blow dryer got all the ice out and around the ice maker 👍 I thought that was it! I plugged it back in and 3 hours later, started making the helicopter noise again! So unplugged it put towels around the bottom and praying that it all melts by the morning and that solves the problem! 🙏
In addition to the horrible noise, I discovered that my food had all defrosted in the freezer too! I couldn't wait throught the end of this video. I hurriedly moved my thawed food & next I grabbed my hair dryer. After a few minutes of aiming the dryer strategically, the worst of the ice buildup melted & the loud noise blessedly stopped.
Loud buzzing noise suddenly came on... side by side frigidare...model FFHS2622MSH...under the ice maker about 12" down inside the back panel is the location of the tiny fan motor ( thats whats makeing the noize).... un plug the refrigerator...just remove the four 1/4" nuts on the back panel w a nut driver separating the thin white panel where the upper and lower panels meet ( easy peasy your half way done ) ... behind the panel you will see the little electric fan has fallen down from its shelf out of position... just re position the fan unit on its shelf and reinstall the 4 nuts and stop thinking you need to spend $ 900.00 fer no darn reason. Plug in the cord listen for a beep then listen to your nice quiet frigidare.
I’m trying to buy a fridge from Best Buy , but reading the reviews and everyone is complaining about that sound , I guess here’s the solution for it lol
Thank you! For me I had to remove the panel and the ice machine at the top was not freezing properly because of over stocking. So some water would drip down and build up on the fan.
I have had this issue after the first year A have been pilling on the plastic grill plate that helped which make me think the fan is hitting the plastic front not ice. I have reduces the stuffing on the upper level, Next I will unstuff the bottom. They really need to rethink freezers for a world or irregular shaped plastic bags plastic bags. Maybe drawers.
I had a brand new Liebherr freezer delivered yesterday and the noise is driving me crazy when it's freezing there was nothing in it besides the 4 drawers ! - the noise should be 37 dB. thank you so much. I've been living with an atrociously loud fridge for a decade. My own stupid fault, it appears. I (finally) noticed fridge (finally) quieted down afte I (mostly) emptied it to go on vacation....
ok, so I tried using the hair dryer which worked, but I decided to try sticking a butter knife on the side of the fan cover and the noise stopped because the butter knife pulled the cover a little away from the fan. Ridiculous that I have to do this but it works!

Blow dryer for the ice build up worked for us! Phew!
You saved me from ending my life thank you so much I can now rest I love you
