On Sunday, August 25, 1991, Veronica Anderson, known as Vera to her friends and family, was found brutally murdered in her own car. With virtually no leads, no known enemies, and very few clues to go off, this case has remained unsolved for the past 30 years. Savannah explores how Vera was found, what witnesses observed that could potentially help solve the case, and why the real killer has alluded investigators for almost 3 decades.

This!!!! I feel like SO many cold cases could be possibly solved with the evidence they still have from the scene.
I know the US started taking DNA samples from anyone that goes to prison at some point. I don't know when, but I am pretty sure that happens today. I don't know if the UK does the same.
This was a jealousy killing. She was gonna end the relationship and he did not want that. She maybe clear her trunk to collect rest of her belongings from him.
what about the children’s father? someone like that would have power over vera. maybe he was threatening the kids, and that’s why she had to leave the youngest with a trusted neighbor. maybe he wanted money maybe he wanted her back, or even more, wanted the kids back? that would explain why they wouldn’t seem affectionate, but appeared they knew each other. why was the children’s father never brought into this? maybe she rejected his sexual advances or his offer to be the father of the child. this would give him reason to want to kill her, it would be the ultimate way to get custody of the kids, and to complete his ego/superiority complex. the only way I would find the father of the kids innocent is if he were dead or lived in a different country and his alibi checked out.

My theory; lover calls her to talk. She empties out the trunk because he's told her he's leaving his family for her because she told him she either wanted a commitment or she would end it...possibly telling his family about their affair. Find the lover and you'll find the killer. It was a crime of passion.

Telling the neighbor that she would be back in 10 minutes sounds like she went to pick someone up really quick; not that she was trying to hang out somewhere like a bar or motel. Maybe she was going to pick up a drunk boyfriend or something?

Could she have been picking up her boyfriend and he maybe mentioned he had luggage with him since he traveled back and fourth? He could of been planning on using her car/ trunk to move her body.

I dont feel like the pregnant daughter that was devastated about telling her little brother their mum was dead was the killer.

I think she cleared her trunk out so that she could have "intimate time" with her boyfriend, which also explains why she left her house and agreed to meet him thereby leaving her son with her neighbor and was found at the lovers lane

I never thought i would click on one of your videos and see the pub which was round the corner from my great grandparents old house! First time hearing about this case and even more fascinating being so close to home. Her children deserve closure and justice, very sad.

I agree with the theory that she probably got a phone call from her lover. I think he might have wanted to end the affair and she got mad, they fought or argued and he flew into a rage and killed her.
I’m thinking the guy from the Pub could possibly be a private investigator she hired since she could have not known about the man she was dating. Once they meet again he informed her he was married which caused her to be upset with her partner and not talk to him . He then suddenly called her since he had not heard from her until he finally decided to call her. She then tells him she knows he’s been lying or she could have said we need to talk and since no one knew of her partner she had to say she was going to see her brother. Once they went to that location she began to tell him what she knew due to investigation and he snapped said he couldn’t tell his wife she began to say well we can’t be together and it was it he would lose her and he couldn’t let that happen.
But then there’s the question of why would she empty the trunk perhaps to grab her belongings from him or he asked her to have it empty because he had a surprise and she would need a space to take it back home? But then what did they find in the trunk? Like did she even put anything inside of it? I hope they’re able to get the criminal or criminals and get justice .
First of all, you are GORGEOUS! and second, maybe there’s a slight change that she was threatened over that phone call. maybe the wife of the man she was having an affair with threatened her, or her kids - especially her pregnant daughter since she was excited to become a grandmother -. maybe she lived a double life that no one knew about; that happens way too often. maybe the phone call didn’t have to do anything at all and she was just at the wrong place in the wrong time (which is not an excuse for murder but it can be a possibility) maybe the person who called was too afraid to come forward thinking they’d end up in jail for no reason. maybe someone she knew had done something she couldn’t speak of and that’s why she emptied the trunk to help them hide whatever they could be in trouble with, maybe a friend, family member, one of the people from whom she worked with in the sandwich industry? there are so many possibilities. i just hope that karma takes over the person who did this.

I don’t ever want to blame a victim but nothing makes sense because it doesn’t explain why she emptied her trunk. What if her married boyfriend told her they would kill his wife to get her out of the house but instead he killed her. She was probably pressuring him and he didn’t find another way out. The trunk could have been emptied to put the wife’s body in it. Ok crazy but it’s the only thing I came up with

I think it was the truck stop guy. Maybe he called her up wanting to get drinks then go to lovers lane and thats why she cleaned out the back of her trunk so they could lay or sit back there.

So I'm a mom of a 7 year old. If I needed a neighbor to watch my kid for 10 min after bedtime I would NOT wake up my kid and take them over there, I would have the neighbor come to my house and just sit on my couch for that short time, with my son not even knowing I was ever gone. No parent likes to wake their young child! Of course there could be reasons for this but my initial thought was that she got a threatening phone call. The caller instructed her to get the child out of her house, empty her trunk and meet them somewhere. OR she emptied the trunk because she thought she was collecting her brother with luggage. Or she gave that as a reason to her neighbor as a hidden "something's wrong" sign, along with the "only gone 10 min". But the neighbor didn't catch it.
I don't think she was at the pub that night. Probably her lover called, said he left his wife and needed her to pick him and his stuff up. That explains emptying the trunk and announcing she'd only be gone 10 min. Don't the police know his identity? Were they just not able to prove his guilt?

i wonder if she was picking up something for her son like a gift or bike for a surprise and then a guy that knows her leaded her into a trap by pretending to be selling something
This is so sad, but a possible theory could be that this boyfriend of hers said his moving in with her hence why she cleaned out her trunk to assist in the move and his wife found out, maybe went to kill her herself when she found out, or threatened her husband to kill her or he won't see the kids again or something... Hope this gets solved and her family gets justice

I think it's possible that someone lied to her on the phone and really did give her the impression that her brother needed to be picked up. It's hard to say without knowing what his particular situation was at the time but she might have cleared out a space expecting to pick him up with suitcases etc., and then when she got to another location it became clear that it was a ruse.

I was thinking it could have been something like this too. Either the wife, or maybe the husband and wife together since they thought it could have been 2 people... not saying there is always a sexual assault, but that could be a reason there wasn't.
The wife could have followed and done it alone, or the man did it alone...
Or the wife found out, made him lure her out then one held her with a rope while the other slit her throat, then kept strangling after that to assure she was dead.

ok but what if, the person who called Veronica had her clear out her trunk because they had the intention of putting her in there and the best way they could get to her to actually do that was by telling her they had something for her thay require loads of space but they didn't want to be the ones to take it to her for whatever made up reason that sounds valid. OR what if it was actually the man she was seeing who had been forced by his wife to call her because she was unhappy with the situation and was not willing to get a divorce. she makes him call Vera because she knows she'll listen to him rather than her and she has her husband lie and say he needs help moving his stuff out of the house or whatever and taking her to drinks is a somewhat way of loosening her up a bit and after that that's when she kills her, motive: that was her husband and she wasn't going to let anyone else have him? of course this is just my opinion, none of that is true.

Current update as of 23 march 2023 a man aged 70 from Widnes and a 61 year old woman from sWarrington were arrested in connection with This case & as of August still under investigation
A man 70, local to Vera’s home and a woman 61, from Warrington have been arrested and remanded in custody for this murder today. Hopefully this will be proven and the family can get some closure.
Why was the brother ruled out? I know police decided it was just her cover story, but I’m curious about why. I mean... personal attack, overkill, no sexual assault, seen with someone she was friendly with but not romantically involved with, left in a hurry and cleared out her trunk (as if tending to a fam emergency).. maybe her brother is the one who called and asked her for help moving something, maybe she met up with him and they had drinks and then maybe he killed her.
I doubt that the boyfriend called Verea and said, 'Meet me for drinks,' or, 'Let's go for a drive.' I believe this bc she told her neighbour she would only be 10 minutes and drinks or a drive would take longer than that, and why did she empty her boot/trunk if she was only going for drinks or a drive.

The red flag to me is the emptying of the trunk. I think the boyfriend told her he wanted to meet up and sneak some of his stuff out. Maybe he was telling her he was going to leave his wife and slowly move his things out without his wife knowing. OR maybe the wife had him call her and say my wife knows she's kicking me out can you meet me and the wife could've been hiding somewhere and popped out and killed her?!
can you please cover the Kenzie Houk case? some people think her stepmom killed her and some people think the dad killed her and pinned it on his 11 year old son.
The killing was brutal, I believe it's from someone who is angry with her. And because she was not sexually assaulted, it could be a woman.

It was an important enough call to wake her son up and leave him with the neighbor. She said she wasn't going to be gone long so it definitely seems like she was lured out under false pretenses. Now the who done it doesn't have too many suspects but I'd definitely look intl the married bf and his wife. With forensic testing as good as it is now can't they test the inside of the glove for the killers DNA? It could at least determine if it was a male.or female. In my opinion that glove looks feminine to me.

She strangled her after killing her because she was so angry at her for having an affair with her husband.
