Lisa Montgomery had an extremely troubled childhood. But her heinous actions that led the brutal murder of a pregnant Bobbie Jo Stinnett on December 16, 2004, and the removal of Bobbie Jo's child from her stomach. Savannah details the troubling events in Lisa's early life, what connected these two very different women, and how Lisa was caught and prosecuted, becoming the first woman to be put on death row in almost 70 years.

I wanted to clarify some of the points I was making in this video because I should have done a better job clarifying what a federal execution is . There is a difference between federal executions and state executions. Even though the federal death penalty applies in every state in the US, it is used very very rarely, and is carried out at the US Penitentiary located in Indiana. Federal death penalty cases are authorized by a committee in the Department of Justice, then after that committee has reviewed the case, they hand it over to the US attorney general who makes the final decision on wether or not to seek the death penalty. As of October 19th, 2020 there are 55 offenders on federal death row, with Lisa Montgomery being the only woman inmate. The last time the federal government executed a woman was in 1953. There are currently 52 other women on STATE level death rows, with the majority of them residing in California. I hope this clears some things up and I apologize for not stating this in the video!

I want to TY n other RUclipser's who put work into these cases considering one of my bf for almost two decades, we met at 12 n 13 n she was my sister pretty much she was my fam n I was her's she lived with me, went to school together n worked together but our fav pass times we skated at different rinks n she was a rival, lol but, true we had a daughter each later on at the time, eventually. Last Sept she was murdered n put in a 55 gal drum n was found six days later stuffed in a garage of a friend she knew. We were born n raised in Vegas n this monster even poured pneumonia all over her. He stripped her nude shot her six times in his car n drove around til there was no signs of life. Disgusting! She was alive n tried to fight n she has a 16 year old daughter, pls if u can share her go fund me at Jennifer Ratay daughter left behind to help her out, cus she has a grandma she is living with, but eventually I want kelsi to feel not alone n finacially secure, Jen was the only child n their family is small. Even sharing this helps. Dallas Ivory is running the go fund me for Kelsi Ratay. RIP Jennifer Ann Ratay 7/9/80 to 9/3/19. He got life, but only has to serve 18 years n he can go up for parole as early as 2031or 2034 disgusting! He plead to 2nd degree murder even tho it seem premeditated, cus his brother testified he was going to kill her days prior. I only posted this two times, cus I been a mess n uncomfortable, but Ik Kels needs this support. TY again savannah I love watching u n ur just very warm, genuine n inviting n that's why i love ur channel!!!!! Light a candle for Jen Ratay on the gun violence page at least once n help share her story, it means the world to her daughter n everyone else left behind due to this senseless monsters actions! My mother passed 11 years ago at 55 Jen was so devasted about my mother's passing out of nowhere n i am just thankful ik there together. RIP Barbara Ann Bongiorno! Gone, but still here!

Lisa had a rough childhood and I’m sorry she endured what she did but that is not an excuse to do what she did. She knew she wasn’t pregnant and she planned this out from start to finish knowing she wasn’t pregnant and knowing she was going to commit a violent act in order to obtain a baby. Her friends and family that didn’t seem to realize she couldn’t possibly have been pregnant having had her tubes tied, eye roll, learn basic sex education. Lisa went there with the intentions of killing this woman and getting that baby by any means necessary and that’s what she did. She deserves to be executed. Bobbie Jo will never enjoy the rest of her life or her baby and her daughter will never know her. Rot in hell after you’re executed Lisa.

Her actions were stomach turning but so was her childhood and for that reason I think she shouldn’t be executed- just life without parole
@@Themystergamerr having a terrible childhood is not an excuse to commit hideous crimes. She knew what she was doing, it was premeditated.
If you’ve never heard of, or read, a book titled “A Boy Called It” (I think on RUclips, it is “A Child Called It”), then you should! It is by a man named David Pelzer. He spent the better part of 8 years (aged 5-12) being stabbed, beaten, poisoned, starved, and abused by his mother, and on her orders, also by his siblings.
As for that woman deserving a life without parole sentence, why should AMERICANS have to pay for HER for the rest of her life? I’d rather send money to the little girl she robbed of a mommy!
@@nanceenana3010 thanks for sharing your thoughts but I just feel like people react to abuse differently and childhood trauma can really damage a person. Virtually all serial killers for instance had awful childhoods. Of course that doesn't justify their actions but it should be taken into consideration.

Or how Magen fieramusca in Tx killed her own BEST friend for her baby the beginning of this year. I just cant fathom how anyone can do this.

Hi Savannah! I live Missouri a couple hours from where Bobbie Jo lived. I remember this case very well. It was so very sad. As you probably know Skidmore Mo is a small town but has quite a reputation for crazy things happening. Thanks for covering this and I hope you feel better very soon!
This reminds me of the case where a women went to another women’s home who was “donating baby clothes” and the woman cut the baby out of the other but in that case the pregnant women lived.
I herd about this case and I can’t believe someone actually did that. It’s something you wouldn’t ever think someone could do! This is a sad & sick case! However I work in a hospital. I know at least seven people who had their tubes tied and ended up pregnant. Not very happy women because their youngest was normally a late teenager. Starting over is hard. So yes it’s possible to get pregnant. Also they say getting your tubes tied is only a 7 year guarantee back then. Now they do it a little differently.
Now this woman was obviously out of her mind. It breaks my heart that this baby will never know her mom!

She’s in jail 10 mins away from me I only heard about this story because the news has been posting that her lawyers got covid.

A case VERY similar to this happened in Chicago, Illinois last year in May. They lived very close to me.

Part of me feels bad because Lisa did have a nightmare of a childhood but at the same time befriending a woman so excited to be a mother and then literally cutting that baby out is so cynical. I don't think her husband knew because she did the tube tying procedure a decade before but it should've been obvious after bc her birthing story makes 0 sense. I think he was in denial which is understandable obviously nobody wants to be connected to a case like this 😔

Gargle with oil of oregano 1-2 drops in warm water, I just add a drop or two in room temp water and drink it for prevention. Drink chamomile, mint or lemon balm tea with a dash of licorice root it's really good for and bacterial or viral issues. Tumeric milk is good too, but the taste is not. My son just had tonsillitis and we treated it holistically first he was better in 2 days. I always try natural before calling the dr. Hope you feel better soon.

Reminds me of the Savanna Greywind case from ND. Luckily in her case as well, the baby was found healthy and was returned to her father and family. Crazy that there are multiple cases like this

I've heard alot of crimes similar to this one where woman act as though they're pregnant and in reality its not the case.
But yes never understood why they decide to go to this extreme.
But it reminded me of another case I heard or read I forgot where the woman faked her pregnancy because her husband wanted a child and went as far as to tell her if she didn't have a baby he would leave her for another woman who could.
Depending on her mental state and the relationship she was in I think determined her breaking point and she acted on a chance .
She assumed thru the chat no one would know its her etc and acted on that .
But I'm glad the husband has his daughter to remember his lovely wife.
And I would say death penalty but even then its too easy because we still pay for them to live and eat and sleep shower as if nothing happened which is BS .
I think if they know with actual facts you killed her or him or them then they should just set a date by the next month the latest to kill you because even then its giving you the time you took from others lives. But then again its hard to be in the shoes of the jury .

1 out of every 200 women which undergo tubal ligation are still able to get pregnant. While the chances lessen with each year, it’s still possible.
I’ve seen it happen twice. Once with a family friend, and once with my aunt. Both had it done just after their first child was born. Both got pregnant six years later (coincidentally, the same amount of time passed for both).
While relatively rare, it does make sense, as it’s a procedure that can be reversed. So, there are bound to be some error cases.
The only real way to prevent pregnancy 100% is a full hysterectomy, as all the reproductive organs are removed.

Probably wouldn't even have noticed if you hadn't said anything and regarding the husband I think I would need to see an interview or something with him first before I decide. Just see his demeanor and he acts and all that. Very disturbing case though especially since like you said she had other options and routes she could have taken. Just wonder if those crossed her mind first clearly not since there were no Google searches for adoption.

Research was not done well on this case. The method used for tube tying in that time was not a 100% guarantee that a woman would not get pregnant. Mine were burned and I still have a chance at getting pregnant.

I had no idea that the statistics are that radical regarding women and the death penalty, that's shocking! Definitely a flaw in our legal system in my opinion. In regards to Lisa's husband, I feel he subconsciously knew about all of it but was in denial and didn't want to believe his wife was capable of doing any of this. Looking forward to Halloweek!

Girl, I feel you! I am battling laryngitis and tonsillitis, as well!! Ack! It SUCKS! I don't take CBD but I depend on Kratom to just function, since I have a debilitating chronic pain disorder and spinal issues. I will probably add some CBD to my nightly Kratom routine soon, though!

11:42 I *definitely* have sympathy for those who struggle with mental illness, especially since I suffered with it myself from my mid-teens to mid-twenties. I also have a great amount of empathy as well, as I know the stigma surrounding mental illness can seem overwhelming at times and can end up just exacerbating an already difficult situation. *However* - having said that - I absolutely do not look at mental illness as being an all encompassing excuse, especially when it’s clear that the perpetrator is keenly aware of what’s right and wrong and has enough wherewithal to either take steps to cover their tracks or to concoct an intricate lie to cover their butt. For this case, there is absolutely no justification or excuse for this crime and the brutality in which it was carried out. I cannot imagine what poor Bobbie Jo was thinking and feeling during the last minutes of her life. Additionally, I cannot imagine how traumatizing it would have been for Bobbie Jo’s mother to find her daughter that way. Thank god that there was one miracle that came out of all this unnecessary devastation and that is that the baby survived. In that way, Bobbie Jo’s mother and Bobbie Jo’s husband still have a piece of her that will live on. ♥️
