The city is small and not the most exciting, but it is decent and I truly enjoyed my time there (was there for grad school). On the opposite end, I moved to Sault Ste. Marie in 2021-2022 for work and also loved it up there :) (for anyone who might be considering moving).

You did not mention THE RATS if you live near The River ..I worked there for 5 months in 2008 at the Casino and stayed in a rented house a few blocks away and up to that point in my life had never seen a rat ...And i seen rats like i see squirrels here in London and also the hum i heard it all the time when there at night mostly ...The best thing i found to do there on down time was the Board walk best at night watching Detroit lights coming on ...If you want a city that is blan with nothing much to do except for on the River then its a great place ..I think they need a Canadas Wonderland type park .. Anything worth doing is across the Boarder ....Sure you have the Casino but that is not a family fun place...Would not want to live there and the only reason i visited there was to show my niece all the work i did in the hotel side of the Casino and the river walk and then went home ....Its sad that this city has to live in the shadow of Detroit and the fact that a Las Vegas casino company owns the casino ...
Poor old Windsor, my hometown. My family used to have businesses on Oeullette and Goyeau south of Wyandoote and now that area looks like a demilitarized zone. Our potholes are a bit much though. They do do construction on ec row every year but they need to maintain the other roads. Especially west end where ppl come into Canada and around the university. Can only use so much cold patch on our roads. Drugs are a huge problem here too.
Fishing is huge here, the two biggest food places we have here are seafood and Italian food too but obviously we have our McDonald’s and other kinds of food like Mexican…but we have a lot of good food here. In terms of a nightlife in Windsor I have no clue at all, like we have a casino or two and stuff but maybe someone from Windsor could tell me something about the nightlife. A peeve I have is that there’s garbage everywhere except the parks and nature trails thankfully, not like a ton or anything but there’s at least 1-3 bits of garbage every block you walk down in the suburban areas. Remington park and I’ve never ever seen a park have this…it has its own little mini water park that has one water slide, two pools, and a diving board. Coolest. Thing. Ever. Especially for the local kids. The public transport is nice most of the time but there are times where people are just packed in like sardines lol so be aware of that. What he says is true about the weather but it is wayyyy better than say Orlando, Florida. In terms of the summer.

The ec row xpressway used to be shutdown for months every summer but the complaints came to a head precovid and now it gets construction every other year. They skip years now so people can enjoy the xpressway quickness of getting across town. Pizza makes up for fish flies. Humidity sucks so bad...nothing makes up for that.

As a Windsorite-the nasty photos shown of may flies are not common to see. In fact I’ve never seen something like this in the city. In the surrounding rural areas they’re worse. 4:09 YOU’RE BEING OVER DRAMATIC. LOL the humidity does such, you’re not being dramatic. I hate the humidity. 33 in Windsor vs. 33 in Mexico -it’s a worse 33 in Windsor. It’s not even the temp, heat without humidity is easier to breathe in. The humidity makes you feel more fatigued because you’re breathing in more water. When I was a kid, we had good cold winters here. We could skate on outdoor ice that froze over. Last year no ice was able to freeze sufficiently to skate on outdoors all winter. Most of North west Windsor is below the water table. Flooding is guaranteed at some point in many of these areas.

Great question! Those homes will be in bad areas. How the asking price is misleading- many sellers still list their home lower than than what they will actually accept. Minimum price point for a safe home in safe area right now is around 350k

Other than that, nobody cares that it's hot and muggy we have AC in our cars and homes. The land being flat is not worth mentioning. I'm not sure Detroit is consider a major city even casually now. It was a a major and one of the major American cities along long time ago. Seems like The sports teams and the some of culture institutions, were just maintained as centre for the whole larger region / county. Most large scale major concert tours or big acts actually skip Detroit. Generally Its only bands that are building up an audience that will do Detroit dates. Its a big deal for people who are into live music and bands The population of Detroit is under 600, 000 and still dropping, so less than Hamilton now. Seems like The sports teams and the some of culture institutions, were just maintained as centre for the whole larger region / county.
Most large scale major concert tours or big acts actually skip Detroit.
Generally Its only bands that are building up an audience that will do Detroit dates. Its a big deal for people who are into live music and bands

Detroit has a metropolitan population of 4 million people. Just like Vaughn and Mississauga are part of the Toronto area, Royal Oak, Tory, Livonia and many other communities are part of Detroit. Also, major acts like Luke Bryan sell out Ford Field annually
Detroit is dead. The freeways are rarely busy and there is just block after block of abandoned neighborhoods and old empty factories. Plus the nogo zones around 7 mile rd after dark. I'll stay in Canada.
