- Took me awhile but this is the best I got...listened to the new sections a thousand times and in slo-mo but some words are just inaudible. The trailer having sound effects and compressed YT audio didn't make it better. 😅 FFXIV vocalists also have a bad habit of pronouncing the actual official lyrics wrong so there's really no way for anyone to get a 100% score when guessing the lyrics 😂

@@zankumoHW basically gave a plot recap of the last patch, which was basically all there was to reference.
Stormblood was too full.
ShB had the job switching which was explicitly in the order of the "main" jobs for each expansion (1.0 archer, 2.0 WAR, 3.0 DRG, 4.0 SAM and MNK, 5.0 DRK)
This entire song is like Yoshi-P and his team are shouting "Don't you dare think we're even CLOSE to done!" and I absolutely love it.

Well, I mean, the great and scary EverQuest Online had like 30 expansions so...
Of course we are not done, we are only just getting started, endwalker was the end of our first arc but the story is not even done we didn't even explore any of the map yet, there is so much for us to see, that past expansions we are too busy we didn't get the chance to explore the only expansion we get to explore the other side of the map is stormblood, but then we went to a completely different world in shadowbringers and then we went to the moon and the past and the edge of the universe in endwalker, but now we are going to keep exploring the world.
a true return to our roots as an adventurer. even though there will absolutely be a new conflict on the horizon, for now, we can try to relax. i'm excited!@@john_7000

I love the message of the song already: taking our time enjoying life or video-games slowly is often better than rushing to the next new thing again and again. Also makes sense that they'd want us not to blow through all of the new story too quick haha.

Initially, I didn't completely vibe with the upbeat parts of the theme (all the "Time for the journey of our lives") but now with Amanda's part, it makes for a nice contrast. I appreciate it more now, hopefully this is doubled-down on in the Dungeons boss music as that's always a banger.

This makes the following lines interesting. "Turn back to transcend, or do we decide our fate?" It feels like Elpis might not be our only visit to the past if we find a way to become the Azem we heard so much about, but dooming us to the fate of being sundered...or find a new path forward leaving Azem and the sundered world in the past

@@283leis but Azem was sundered, which means the WoL was already sundered technically-I think the WoL being able to accept that Azem is (part of) them and utilize Azem in the present is much more important- Also it's a game mechanic in raids and trials to "summon" 7 other people, they're not going to change a game mechanic, lol A new path forward doesn't mean Azem has to be left behind IMO, not when they're so connected and important to the WoL.
@@kaleidokey9382 I'm saying the lyrics make it sound like theres a POSSIBILITY of the WoL, probably at the end of the story when FFXIV ends, that we get yeeted so far back in time that Venat is Azem. We at some point before this somehow fully rejoined, or increased our aether to be on par with the unsundered. We eventually meet Venat!Azem on her travels and become friends...then her successor. Will it happen? Probably not, but I can see it as a potential ending to the game
I don't know how they made Erenville look so goddamn cool as he's suggesting that Alphinaud to focus on the mission.
It makes me really excited that he's in the expansion artwork. I'm eager to see him as a main character.

@@Lulink013 It'll be nice, but I just hope they don't completely side-line half the cast for an expansion again. they haven't done that since Stormblood (unless you count the lesser scions like Hoary Boulder, or non combatants like Tataru and Krile)

God, I really think Final Fantasy is at its peak this year. An amazing FFXVI DLC, the new expansion for XIV and VII Rebirth, all in the same year. Damn.

4:00 “This way my olden soul transends”. I’m predicting this is in reference to the Ancients, in particular Azem and whomever Krile is a reincarnation of, given that people with the Echo are stated to be a reincarnated shard of an Ancient.
I read the Echo as being more a sign of someone who was alive during the final days, and it causing essentially trauma etched into the soul, while anyone without the echo (most people, probably) were already dead or died before they experienced the full extent of the final days, and thus were 'insulated' from it in the aetherial sea
@@ExileTwilightthe echo is given to Warriors of Light directly from Hydaelyn (or Elidibus on the 1st). They aren't just born with it. A sign of being alive during the final days has nothing to do with it
Everyone is a shard of an ancient. Literally EVERYONE in ffxiv (besides dragons ofc). People with the echo are just Hydaelyn's chosen (not including the Elidibus thing on the 1st)
@@MyraAmherst2018 It's not "given", that's why Elidibus had to make a mass illusion of the final days starshower to create as many 'warriors of light' as he could and why many didn't hear her voice but still suffered from sadness they couldn't explain. Awakening the echo (by something that reminds them of the final days) lets them then hear hyedalyn's 'hear feel think' which gives them the blessing of light.
Hey Chad, just wanted to say, thanks for always making these videos. You've been at it for so long and are always very close if not exactly right to the official lyrics. And your editing helps people sing along if they want like a karaoke. Here's to another expansion of good music and videos.

@@petrus9067 XIV's songs are notoriously a bit unclear, I do kinda wonder if it's because most of the music team are Japanese so they're more concerned with how it sounds than legibility.
I always appreciate all the effort you put into your vids! I watch your "Scream" video all the time and it's edited so well. Even if the lyrics are a best guess, I still enjoy the effort you put into trying to transcribe the lyrics!
His lyrics for scream are almost perfect. Just one word is wrong that I can hear, the 3rd time say goodnight is actually say goodbye it even rhymes. Chad has even acknowledged that. If you know any others let me know.. listened to it 100s of times lol haven't even played 14 since a month after scream came out

if its "throw wide" those two words give me hope for something more to do with the nutkin and its finding of Thancred. just something that crossed my mind

4:15 man, I feel happy to see this lyric here. I suggested “laughter and light” and “ours to create” to someone asking about the lyrics on Reddit. And I think those are very nice lyrics in any case.
I like how the WoL smiles in his fight against Gulool Ja Ja. I feel like this makes the "That, I can't deny." choice in Endwalker canon since this interaction pretty much sets in stone that the WoL fights not only to protect and save people but for the thrill of it too.
Man, I can not wait 4-6 months for this. I started playing right before EW launched so I wasn't fully able to experience it, but now I'm caught up and hyped as all hell.

If the vocals still represent Hydaelyn and are accurate, sort of a very nice sentiment, even if she's gone. It's her looking at us with a smile on her face in whatever afterlife she's in (I assume Venat or Hydaelyn is in some sort of afterlife, even if it's different than the one Emet/Hythlo/Themis are in)

This'll be my first expansion where i can enjoy it at release with all the friends I've made playing this game. I legit am so hyped for this. And as an FF9 enjoyer, Viper, here i come!

No wild captions explaining what the content has to offer. Just a set of cool little scenes of out companions using and in the content it will offer. and the ffxiv players know that it's not just for the trailer. We will get this in the game. that's how you make a trailer.

The lyrics alluding to the expansions by name in 1:40 makes me wonder what could go on in a "transcend" storyline. Someone wanting be cheeky with godhood I suppose. No shortage of people in any MMO trying to reach deity level being and having to be deal with.

"On the dawn we set our sights"... To me it tells that now that we have seen the end (Endwalker), it is time to greet a new dawn with a new adventure (Dawntrail).
With the Music Video for Dawntrail released which has much better audio for trying to disect the lyrics, I attempted figure them out myself, and mostly are the same, but some lines are slightly different. As I was filling in the lyrics I had to ask myself if this is a song about the new expansion or the FFXIV dev team, my guess is the answer is both. Here is what I hear:

I'm curious how difficult they'll make this expansion since I've been seeing articles about how the director's been thinking the game's become too relaxed and is planning on increasing the challenge going forward.

There's a good chance it'll just be called Dawntrail, but we don't know. As for the singing, the female vocalist is Amanda Achen who has sung the big female parts in Shadowbringers and Endwalker as well (Flow, With Hearts Aligned/Endwalker Footfalls, and "Tomorrow and Tomorrow"/Shadowbringers). I am not sure who the male vocalist is.
@@Junebug89 male vocalists are The Primals. Soken confirmed it on a tweet. The guy singing in solo parts is Koji, for the other part Soken's voice stands out with the rest of the band doing supporting vocals.

It's nice that this one finally got the "from the ashes we're reborn" right. The last two being "we get this realm reborn" was bugging me so much since it was so weird and relatively nonsensical.

TBH, I'm not sure whether or not I'm supposed to be hyped for Dawntrail. I still have a lot of questions for that expansion.
