      What never got replaced was the video arcade game machines TV screen. It didn't get renewed. So that way, you won't be seeing the screen flicker. Another thing is: the formula one race car is colored blue, not red. If it crashed: its parts would fly off the race car.

    For those old enough and around arcades at the time it was released, we cannot hear the muffled "prepare to qualify" without repeating it in a weird voice ourselves. It's instinct. It must be done. I realized that when a few people all did it at once in a bar.
    I've reflexively said it many times while watching this vid. Thanks for that.

      Star Wars is a very tough game to keep running, if you do your own repairs and are at a pretty high level you can keep it going but it's not uncommon for it to break often. You can so called 'bullet proof' it to an extent but it's a pretty complex, antique machine at this point. Pole Position is a little easier because the monitor isn't vector and people have figured out how to make those run pretty well, the board set is a thing though.

    Wow, does that bring back memories..... Lots of us could get around Fuji Speedway..... I remember PP2 coming out, those 2 new tracks threw us all for a loop... Those were tough.
    Knowing the track is key. So, as you would expect, we all looked ridiculous on the new tracks....
    And you are not wrong... Having the speed set down some, I always thought was somewhat easier.... Different places set them differently for whatever reason... I was in a sit-down cabinet one once, it would let you rip it at like 250 on Fuji Speedway, which was uncontrollable.... Years later, I remember a bar I may or may not have frequented got a stand up one... It was a little tired, the heyday was over, but the top speed was dialed down, and it may have had some weird processor problem, it seemed to play "slower" slightly.... I was untouchable on that thing.... For at least a year I had the high score...
    Those were the days. Were you still in the business when Golden Tee came out?? The golf game with the trackball??? That created quite a sensation.... I may or may not have spent a lotta lotta time playing golden tee.... Groups of us would go out, specifically to play Golden Tee....

    I'm probably completely wrong, I wonder if the following would work for a gas pot problem....
    - put it in the sweet spot, then take a resistance reading. and get hold of a resistor with that value.
    - add a relay board that connects to some spare GPIO pins if there are any spare on the pi. (I have a spare if you want it)
    - write a timed script that would switch on the resistor first, then switch over to the gas pot after the pi has done the calibration.
    Just a thought, like I said, I could be wrong! 🤣

    Ron, the only rip on this one is when you measure AC voltage across the power rails, they HAVE to be loaded in order to indicate what sort of ripple you have. Most any capacitor will have low ripple without a load. Other than that...pretty cool.

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  Год назад

      The 10.6 or whatever it is on the cap then feeds a voltage regulator which is regulating it's little heart away to create 5 volts, wouldn't that count as a load? We tested it with the power supplies installed and powered up
