Love the BUSH WINCH. We practiced something similar to this in the Army Engineers, way back in the 70s. Like he said, "This isn't new technology", it is just refined. Thanks Eddie and Cindy for the tour.
I was going to post the same. It was a cheap and common "winch" back then.
LOL - oh my goodness, I am so glad that you actually watched the whole video and paid attention to what was being said. I can't count how many people have been giving me grief and telling me how, "there's nothing new about this" and to go on and on about how "it's been around forever". 👍
Always love the SEMA convention videos! Many thanks to you and Cindy for bringing us along!
Really happy that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
My first stop for SEMA coverage never disappoints!
We're happy to hear you enjoyed our coverage of the 2023 SEMA Show 😎

Thanks Eddie for sharing SEMA. A lot of great new products to look forward to. 🤙🏼
You bet! Glad to know you enjoyed our 2023 SEMA coverage 😎
Eddie once again thank you for taking and showing us SEMA. Been a long time dream to go, hopefully next year. You never fail to bring the show home to those of us that can't attend. KUDOS, brother!
Truly humbled that you would say as much and happy to know that you enjoyed our coverage of SEMA this year. Hope you have a great weekend.
Great videos covering SEMA 2023.
We really appreciate it and glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
Master Editor: Thanks for not ruining your videos by playing loud music while you or others are talking - but - when you do choose to play - it just absolutely rocks - perfect! I love to watch your videos just to appreciate your editing skills.
Cindy is truly humbled that you would say as much and really appreciates the kind words 😊
Thank you I enjoyed all of it
Awesome! Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
Thanks for taking us to SEMA! Tell the horn to stay home next year! 😂
LOL - indeed! Also, it was our pleasure to show you the show 😎
Your axle shafts will love that winch.
😂😂😂 The Bush lug nuts look so nice. 😂😂😂
LOL
Great coverage of SEMA thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it 😎
Small World, that ORZ is in the same city you live in.
that Quake LED booth had those 2 JL with aftermarket metal fenders and DRL's to fit those fenders. I like those.
LOL - it was a genuine surprise :)
Thanks again for the coverage! Love it!
Really happy to hear you enjoyed our coverage of SEMA
The wrench Kit is real innovation. Mr Bush is really thinking. He’s got a great mind..
I liked it. It was definitely worth a look.
finally these bushwinches are a game changer for so many places
We're happy to hear you enjoyed our coverage of the 2023 SEMA Show 😎
Thank you so much for sharing, the winch idea is great for those of us on a budget.
Happy that we could share it with you and glad you enjoyed our 2023 SEMA coverage.
Great series as usual, thanks Eddie and Cindy!
Really happy to know that you enjoyed our coverage of SEMA 😊
wheel winch works very good. my dad used to have that on his Mercedes Unimog 4 years ago. It was a fixed mounted device.
Very cool and good to hear.
I mean, 40 years ago...
I want to see that winch in a serious situation I feel like it will break
I agree. They had videos going showing how it works and it looked impressive but... I'd love to see it for myself.
You should do a product review on your budget 2 door
ever seen anyone get a truck/tractor out with tree limb/trunk and a ratchet strap? works like a charm.
id still pick a winch any day of the week, but if money is the obstacle there are cheaper less sexy options out there
I am in the line trade and we use a similar design, we call it a capstan winch and a bunch of apprentices put to many raps on the drum and it collapsed the steel drum, they didn’t realize you only needed 3 wraps.
think the guy said 7000 lbs braking point if l hear right
Those Bush winches have been around for more than 50 years in various forms. Original drums were steel. The new materials make it much better. Don’t forget to get 2!
Yup, like the guy says in the video, there's nothing new about this and farmers have been using it forever. Also, he says the kit comes with 2.
Excellent as usual!!!
Thank you! Happy to hear you enjoyed our coverage :)
Great three days of SEMA ,thanks
Glad you enjoyed it 😎
Another year down. Another great set of SEMA videos.
Thank you. We're really happy to hear you enjoyed our SEMA coverage 😊
Thx Eddie...like an adults candy store of new products.
LOL - Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
Great videos. It's like I went to there, without actually going there. Lol. Cool gear
Awesome! So happy to hear you say as much and glad you enjoyed our coverage of SEMA
I saw a 3d printed Bush winch in an rc rock crawler many years ago and it worked really good. Glad to see this technology reach the full size vehicle world.
Oh yeah, like the guy in the video says, capstan winches have been around forever. In fact, their product has been sold in Australia for a very long time as well. They're just now bringing it to America.
Thanks for taking us around with you to see what was going on this year.
It was our pleasure and glad to hear you enjoyed our 5 day coverage from SEMA 😎
I love you cover all the product's and not only cars
Happy to hear you can appreciate it and glad you enjoyed our coverage of SEMA this year 😎
Well, thank you for share your this 2023 sema show with us. I hope you can really drive the orz jeep because that offer was unexpectedly amazing. Will see you on the next one.🤘
LOL - it was genuinely a surprise and one they seemed really eager to make happen. Glad you enjoyed our coverage of SEMA 😎
Excellent video. The wheel winch looks like a useful device for all wheel drive vehicles especially Subaru
Glad you enjoyed our day 3 coverage of SEMA and yes, I think you're right about the usefulness of the winch.
I want the Fittipaldi FB 153 so bad, love them! Thanks for all your great videos!
We're happy to hear you enjoyed our coverage of the 2023 SEMA Show 😎
@@wayalife FB 153's are on their way to me!
11:11 Ooooo. I need one of these.
15:48 Looking forward to seeing that.
Happy that we could share these with you 😎
Those two were in the same FOX Hole.. I need that helping hand 🖐
👍👍
That orz suspension looks sweet. Please take them up on driving it.
We were told that they would only have the Jeep in my area for about a week and then it hits the road. I'll see what I can do.
Seems like I’ve seen this in a movie or tv show. Like a old Mutual of Omaha safari video or LRDG movie or news reel. It absolutely works
Nice! I just ordered the DD hitch light after seeing this.
Awesome! Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
Good ideas, one might be a challenge to use the tire winch in mud. ❤
Would love to see it in action for sure. Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 😎
I can still hear the horn blasting in the background…lol. New headlights coming for the old J2000??😎
LOL - I so hate it when people set the alarms on their rigs in a show!! Definitely want those lights for our J2000 and our CJ5 👍
I have a set of antique 1915 solid rubber Mack 3 ton wood spoke wheels. They have rope hooks attached in about 8 locations on the wheels. Were used like a wheel winch. Its over 100 year idea.😮
Yup, that's what he says in the video, it's nothing new and farmers have been using it forever.
While I would love to go to SEMA it's almost better to watch on RUclips. My feet don't hurt at all...lol...
Great series of video's. looking fwd to some of the video's that spawn from the contacts you made.
Happy to hear you enjoyed our 2023 SEMA coverage 😎
Those long stud’s are going to be broken off by the time you need them… but I love the idea …
And that helping hand… nice
I dunno, I'd say it depends on the wheels you have. My concern would be that they wouldn't be long enough to make it work on my beadlock wheels with 3.5" of back spacing. As it is, I run much longer wheel studs just to help make it easier to get to and I can tell you, they are far from being in danger of getting broken off.
ORZ having suspension kits for Rams, fits my needs. Thanks for the coverage of the Jeep world, at SEMA!
Awesome and glad you enjoyed our SEMA coverage this year.
Please buy one and test it id love to see this system winch system in action. Thanks !!
I have winches on my Jeeps now but I just might if only because you can never have too many recovery tools at your disposal 😎
not sure that Bush winch will be strong enough to do the job. The wait and see time is here for that. Man I could get into so much trouble there...parts wise...lol Thanks for sharing guys. Really like how Cindy shows the product as well as your face. Most just focus on face and no looks at products. Well done.
Happy to hear you enjoyed our coverage of SEMA 😎
I think the Bush Winch is probably meant to be a helper, not necessarily made to pull as much as a regular winch. I think in some situations that extra pull on the wheels will probably be just enough to get you out.
I have the Diode Dynamics Elite headlights on my JTM. I had the OEM LED light package, these were a nice upgrade over OEM. I got them on sale and sold my OEM LED headlights for $550.
Awesome!
Regarding that new Winch System, and your fellow Carson City company…For sure Eddie and Cindy… Would make for another great Video down the Road 🤔👍
LOL - would love to do videos on both. The ORZ I think will happen.
i like the idea but i don't think im adding 400-600 lbs with my winch to the front; my winch is like 90lbs and the line cant weight 300lbs
LOL - I agree, he was exaggerating a bit but I think the point was that even with just 90 lbs of weight, the front end of your rig WILL sag. The solution for many is to install some kind of suspension solution to address it. Granted, I seen no problem with that.
As an australian I appreciate you giving us the release dates in Year Quarter. I hate american companies selling international products using seasons for release info
LOL - I try my best to accommodate everyone. Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
The South African army had those winch hubs fitted as standard on all Land Rovers in the seventies and eighties but I never used one.
Yup, as the guy says in the video, there's nothing new about a capstan winch and farmers have been using it forever.
The bush winch looks legit. I've got my super duty unstuck a number of times by wrapping a tow strap around a rear tire. It works really well but it can be a bit sketchy if you're not pulling perfectly inline. The bush winch would make it a bit less sketchy.
The guide that they provide for the front wheel would definitely help with that.
Loggers have used drum systems and capstan winches forever 🔥
Yup, as he states in the video, there nothing new about capstan winches.
Can't wait to see the ORZ video!!!!!!
Well, I hope to get to it. I was told the Jeep would only be in town for about a week and then it goes on the road.
Good luck working it on open differential
eh, you're not really thinking things though. Even if you're just using one of the two winching they provide with the kit, if you place it on the spinning wheel, the line will keep it from spinning, thus providing traction and more times than not, that's all that is needed to give the side that does have real positing traction going. But hey, I'm not here to sell you on anything, just sharing what I saw at SEMA and thought was interesting ✌️
@@wayalife I guess you are right
Thanks to Baja Designs I will have to convince my wife the wrangler needs new headlights
LOL - Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
Looking forward to your field review/demo of the wheel wench (ok Cindy?) 😉
Hope I can get to it. I'm told the Jeep will only be in town for about a week and then it goes on the road.
@@wayalife I was implying that Cindy would let you buy one 😄
Love this video as always!
I wish Baja Design would've answered a more in depth features of the SAE 7 inch headlights vs the traditional led lights. I'd also love to see what it looks like on the JK/JL. I've already invested in their ecosystem, as well as SPOD. to be continued on guess.
I think I caught them a bit off guard with that one. But, to be fair, they just got the light to SEMA in the nick of time and that's typical of everyone else too. Hoping to follow up on this in the future.
@@wayalife Oh yea, I can see that and that makes sense. Perfect, ill stay tuned as always. Keep em (videos) coming buddy!
I like the BD lights I have the KCs but the BD are bad ass.
Both are great lights but I will have to say, the BD's do look super nice.
The Bush winch salesman made the demo seem long and complicated. Most people know how a winch is attached. If you want it to look easy, explain it easily. Seems to be more complicated than a electric winch.IMO
I do love the trailer hitch back up light.
Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 😎
How would you tighten and torque the long lugs? Excellent concept especially for people overlanding in crosstreks and outbacks
They're just regular lug nuts with a specialized tip to accommodate the winch hub. You would just used a regular socket to tighten them.
Wondering how the wheel winch would work in my Louisiana mud holes! Ever have a winch cable wrap up on a tire it's not fun believe me i know, stuck and tire off the wheel in knee deep mud😖. I can see this happening with this setup. ✌🏻
LOL - umm, probably work about as good as you've already seen and just described.
The long lug nuts for the winch would get beat up pretty quick if you play in the rocks. Otherwise it’s a great design.
I dunno. My concern is that they wouldn't long enough for my beadlock wheels that have 3.5" of back spacing. I run much longer nuts because of it and they are still far far away from the edge of the wheel.
That winch is bad joke 😂😂😂
If you say so. Capstan winches have been around for a very very long time. I'd still prefer my Warn but I have seen these things work and quite well.
Cool product. But no winch is actually 600# with mount. An Apex 12k is 70#.
LOL - oh come on. Clearly, the guy was exaggerating about the total weight but a winch can't just be bolted onto a factory bumper. Typically, most people need to install a heavy steel bumper and a winch plate to install one and altogether, they are very heavy and will make the front end of your Jeep sag. To address it, a suspension modification will be needed and that does costs more money. As much as he stated? eh, not necessarily.
Dang I might have to sell my warm winch and get one of these! 😝 would probably work on a Subaru. Sand recovery, or stuck in a little bit of snow but you’re not getting a 5k+ vehicle out of deep snow or a mud hole with that.
LOL - My big JK weighs in at about 6500 lbs, the breaking strength of the line they provide. But, I could see how this in conjunction to my WARN could be helpful. I've been in plenty of situations where an additional winch would have been helpful, especially in a side pull.
I think the winch, for the wheel is a great idea, and I definitely like to see this in action. I like the idea of not having an extra 70 pounds hanging out beyond my front wheels for a winch, but I completely disagree with this guy’s exaggeration of saving 600 to 800 pounds. I think when people add a steel front bumper it’s not just about adding a winch, as there are also mounting points to be pulled up by somebody else, additional protection from hitting something (tree or rock), having an additional lighting set up, and increasing ground clearance on the front for approach angles. But I definitely like the two main reasons for this to be considered, weight savings, and going both front and backwards to pull yourself out. I wish the Lyne strength was a lot more because the weight of the vehicle plus being stuck overcoming that force is probably approaching one and a half twice the weight of your vehicle
Clearly, the weight stated was an exaggeration on another level. Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
Love the ev has no 12v, actually it has a 12v battery for the 12v system but I wouldn't count on it. Lol
I am curious about the diode dynamics headlamp. Those of us that need heated headlamps for winter know that unpacking frozen over JL/JT headlamps in a snow storm really sucks balls with the OEM LED headlamps. I hope they offer a heating element option.
Yeah, the OEM LEDs don't exactly do the best job with snow. Don't think the Diode Dynamics will do much better. I've run heated Truck-Lites in the past and they worked but their beam pattern kind of sucked.
vic Hickey did wheel winches 50 years ago!
Guess you missed the part where the guy says there's nothing new about a capstan winch and that it's been used forever by farmers. Nice to see someone making and selling them now.
😊🎉❤
Thank you. Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
Well not all that impressed with the hub drive winch until he said it was only around $500 for everything, not a bad deal at all. The front wheel guide is sweet and a must have item. (or could be used for the back wheels)
Price point is great and it does come with 2 hubs and guides. Also, it's never a bad thing to have more recovery options or at least, in my opinion. Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
if it was $100-200 I could see it, but this really costs more than the 12k Synthetic harbor freight winch .
I don't think cost is the primary selling point.
Really curious to see the Baja Designs light/beam pattern, and if they are going to offer a HEATED Version…. So tired of clearing snow in the winter!
I am interested in seeing more from it too. Hope to get the skinny on it soon.
Anyone notice he rolled the wheel away from the anchorpoint point to tighten it? So the line would run from underneath on one side and over top on the other?
Sadly, he demonstrated the winch in action in the wrong direction. But, I think you can still get the point. Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
if the baja design headlights looked like their original lp6 i would buy them
They look exactly the same and look pretty cool.
Every time I see this thumbnail it always make me scratch my head. I live on a crazy steep hill. I always picture myself using different recovery products because sometimes that’s the only way home. With all that said, how the heck do you get the tension off to re-rig? I would have to make .25 miles of pulls up a steep grade and the best I can tell, there is no way to take tension off this system.
Do any of these aftermarket l e d headlights provide enough heat to melt ice or have a defrost option
You mean like the factory LED headlights? LOL To answer your question, not that I have seen. I have run heated Truck-Lites in the past and they worked pretty well but the beam pattern was just okay or at least, compared to these newer lights.
This has been around for a while, I've seen videos of this product being used in Australia for years now. It's cool but it's kind of expensive for what you're getting.
Like the guy says in the video, capstan winches have been around for a very long time and this particular winch has been made and sold in Australia for a very long time as well. It was at SEMA because they're now bringing it to the USA.
Cool idea for sure. But i would like to see these 4-6 hundred pound winches😂 he talks about
LOL - clearly, he was way over exaggerating but I think you get the point. Add a heavy winch to the front of your Jeep and it will sag. Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
Those Diode Dynamics Headlights looked awesome and their price point was spot on as well. The Quake looked great and nice upgrade for the older vehicles....Biggest thing with some LED is the dreaded Canbus Error with Jeep then you have to buy drivers and such. I wasn't that impressed with the Baja Design Headlights just seemed to unfinished for my liking !!
I appreciate your thoughts on what you saw 👍
I’ve been running the new headlights now for a couple months and they’re definitely worth their price. Nice, bright white color with a great cutoff. Fitment of the harness out the back was a little tight but otherwise simple install.
Good to hear@@Spack005
I had the DD headlights on my JL that I just traded in. Something they didn't mention is that it has an offroad light built into the headlight, which is a big reason I bought them. I was rather disappointed in the offroad light though. It didnt seem any better than the high beam to me. Otherwise, it was an awesome light, but not worth $1000 if you already have the led headlights imo.
What is that bumper on the ORZ jeep?
AEV
The winch concept sounds good, but I am skeptical that it will actually be effective in real world use.
I totally get it. Would love to see it in action and in person.
Aren't typical winches only way like 100lbs? BUSH Winch was saying winches weigh 400-600lbs?
LOL - oh come on. Clearly, the guy was exaggerating about the total weight but a winch can't just be bolted onto a factory bumper. Typically, most people need to install a heavy steel bumper and a winch plate to install one and altogether, they are very heavy and will make the front end of your Jeep sag. To address it, a suspension modification will be needed and that does costs more money. As much as he stated? eh, not necessarily.
@@wayalife now that you put it into that context of a joke it makes sense. In the video the guy explaining everything seems completely serious with literally no clue he was joking about the weight and it wasnt obvious joke because my brain was like "what 400+lb wench"? Thx for the videos reguardless and thx for explaining it because it needed it.
10:00 can this fit my jeep patriot :D i really want this for me jeep
Not these particular lights but they might have something that will work.
600lbs?? that's a really interesting number to toss aorund.
LOL - clearly, he was exaggerating but I understood his point. Essentially, adding a winch to the front of your Jeep WILL make it sag and the only real way to address that, is with some kind of suspension modification and really, to me, that's okay. Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
@ 4:10 THE Helping hand looks like it could be a flying hazard
They use synthetic line. If you've ever seen them break, not a whole lot happens or at least, in terms of flight.
i wanna see that "bush winch" in action. i see that plastic 'drum' going or those WAY TALL lug nuts shearing with the amount of force that is leveraged onto them. and i LOVE how he touts the 5mm line to have a breaking strength of ~6000 lbs! LMAO! besides, there's NO WAY that'd even fit in my beadlock. clearly this is not for the offroad crowd. this is for the family that occasionally takes their van onto the beach!
LOL - no need to get all worked up about this. Like you, I have my doubts and would have to see it in action for myself. I do like how there are people trying to do new things or in this case, do something really old, better. ✌️
I'd like to know when adding a winch to your vehicle added six hundred pounds
LOL - clearly, he was exaggerating. I think his point was simply that by adding a winch on the front of your rig, your front end WILL sag and the only way to correct it is through some kind of suspension modification. And really, I see no problem with that.
What about square lights
Quake would have you covered
problem with the bush winch, is simple. look at almost any video of someone stuck, its almost always the wheels are deep in ruts/mud. it would never work in situations like that
I don't know. Out in the west, we have very little to no mud but still have plenty of places where a winch is needed. I get what you're saying though. Having wheeled in mud back east, I would definitely have my concerns about something like this. Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
I thought those terrible wheel winches went away in the 70s, The McCain Hub Winch same idea and was a bad idea then as it is now
LOL - clearly, not the winch system for you 👍
@@wayalife LOL, I repurchased a 77 Bronco, way back in 82 or so and it came with one of the old steel versions of that idea. Unless a lot has changed Ill stick to my warn
LOL - not sure why you feel such a need to convince me about all this. Like I said, this is clearly not the winch system for you. Not like I'm trying to sell you or anyone on the idea of it. Just sharing what I saw at SEMA and thought was interesting. Certainly, I couldn't give 2 poops either way. ✌️
My wallet is complaining after watching this video 😅
LOL - sorry about that 😁
Oh the crap they come out for pavement queens! 😂😂😂
LOL - a way bigger aftermarket for them than those of us who use our Jeep, that's for sure. Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
The bush winch wouldn’t work in mud huh?
I don't know... I'd like to see it being tried though.
600 pounds for bumper and winch. Jeez, bet they are made of gold.
LOL - it probably would have been better if he had just said it "weighed a ton" so that so many of you wouldn't get so worked up over a whole lot of nothing. Clearly, he was exaggerating to make the point that a winch and a full steel bumper and winch plate to attach it to is very heavy and enough so that it will make the front of your Jeep sag. To address it, a suspension modification would be needed but to cost as much as he states? eh, I think that was an exaggeration as well but I digress. ✌️
70000 views and no one noticed the winch is pulling ng in the opposite direction
Umm, multiple people made the same comment more than a week ago when this video was posted. It was just a poor demonstration in the wrong direction.
Only problem with the Sema videos. They’re too short.
LOL - sorry about that. There's only so much time in a day and in a week for that matter. Glad that we were able to share some of what we were seeing at SEMA 2023 with you 😎
Doesn’t he have the bush winch wound in the wrong direction?
As mentioned multiple times now, yes. The demonstration was done incorrectly but it doesn't change how it should work.
I didn’t read any comments. Just making sure I was seeing it right.
