A magnificent castle with full of Italian history. Thank you for your introduction! It definitely lifted my view from a property standpoint to a new level of mankind dazzling civilization. great job Stefanie!
Hi. Thank you for the video. Not sure it's the right niche but if anyone's is obsessed with ultra-in-depth Medieval Italian history and culture I strongly recommend Schwerpunkt's relative playlists. Speaking of Viterbo, there's for example a very interesting video on Medieval Lazio and the general series about the Papal States that I naturally recommend
Absolutely stunning......Italy never fails to impress! - Thank you Stefanie for giving us some interesting historical background to this fascinating masterpiece ❤❤
Woow...
Jawdroppingly beautiful. The frescoes, history, and architecture of this magnificent home are national treasures. It should be saved and cared for professionally by the next lucky owners of this artistic masterpiece. Bel Sogno!!!
Boy, something really different. With the Cavallino Rampante fountain, Enzo Ferrari should have lived here! Only in Italy, the combination of the medieval fortress with the Renaissance palace! Splendid, thanks again Stefanie and Lionard!
That was a wonderful and such a lovely presentation of this lovely castle from your side. Chapeau. It is every time a high pleasure for me, to follow such an attractive Lady through the most beautiful castles and villas in Italy. With friendly regards from Warsaw/Poland

This is a wonderful example of a castle in Italy that still retains some of its defensive character as a fortification perched high atop a hill. And the interior appears to be mostly from the 19th century renovation, with the exception of the North Wing, which as Stefanie said is still mostly 16th century. The furnishings are tasteful and not overdone, and you can imagine being an Italian aristocrat and visiting here in the 19th century. Thanks for sharing.
Now that’s a castle I wouldn’t mind living in and explore. all these artifacts it will definitely link you to the past on how it went down several hundred years ago reminding us how lucky we are to still be alive remembering what the Nobles and Royals went through. I like the Gothic style castles, and of course, the pre-Gothic era which reminds me of films like the robe and gladiator. granted in the film, the robe it was more like a palace for the Emperor Augustus. The film gladiator will be obvious thing to everybody, but I recommend you guys search the film called the robe and you’ll be wondering what I’m talking about as far as the palace goes because the one in there looks good
Wow! You would never fear a zombie invasion with this castle! Seriously, though, this would be perfect if it had a swimming pool or was near the ocean. I would have liked to have seen the other kitchens, or at least know that at least one had modern, working appliances. That staff kitchen looked to seat 17 people! I wonder how many would be needed for a family of 3-5? And if servants quarters are part of the 35 bedrooms? No price is mentioned even on the web page, so this one must be costly. Hopefully whoever purchases it keeps it tasteful.
Thank you for your suggestion! We’ll definitely keep it in mind for future videos. We appreciate your feedback and are glad you’re enjoying the content!
I'm glad you enjoyed property tour! For further information on the price you can contact us at stefaniesmith@lionard.com or through our website - Stefanie
Ciao Stefanie, What an incredible Castle, the centuries of history in unbelievable. The gardens are stunning. I absolutely loved this tour. "Grazie Mille" for showing us it. Amore da N.Y.
I have NOTHING to say I am breathless and speechless and require oxygen, my socks are gone elsewhere (knocked off) 😄and my eyeballs are somewhere here on the floor😝🙏🏻❤️thank you
This should be a museum to the city all people will pay to come and visit and experience it this have so much history and art 🖼️😃💓 amazing castle 🏰 I hope he or she doesn’t sell it but make it museum for the city and country and share it as one of the places must anyone go to watch
Actually I know some people from Australia who attended a wedding at this castle a few years ago. If anyone is familiar with queen Christina of Sweden who famously abdicated from the Swedish throne to move to Italy and changed her religion to Catholic. Well she had a courtier in her service who was a Monaldeschi and regrettably she had him killed before her eyes because she found out he had betrayed her interests in favor of someone else. This happened when the exiled queen was visiting the great palace of Fontainbleu near Paris.
Worlds fail me! I am just awed by the history of these places and of the people who built them. Would love to be in the position to buy something similar maybe not quite this big though.
Very nice but you made a mistake at the beginning of your description, you said that the castle is 800.000 years old and I know you meant 800 instead Anyway we love to watch your properties and we truly like how you present it and your personality Ciao carissima 😉
Stephanie, is there any we can use these properties as luxury hotel or bnb so that the owner can stay some part of time they wish and rest can be monetised as well ? What are the steps for such utilisation ?
Great question! Yes, some properties can be adapted for use as luxury hotels or BnBs while allowing the owner to stay part-time. This often requires specific permits and adherence to local regulations. For more details, feel free to reach out, and we’d be happy to assist!
Beautiful. I realize that there was no birth control in days gone by so people needed lots of real estate for the family, which kept growing with every subsecuent wedding. And slaves were a dime a dozen, but today it ain’t that cheap to maintain a pile like that. But what a marvelous hotel it would make! Interestingly there is no mention of price. Is it for free?
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! Properties like this do have a rich history and can be costly to maintain today. For pricing info, please contact us directly, as some listings are private. And yes, it would make a stunning hotel!
What’s been renovated of the castle is very nice. But what would a private purchaser do with such a property in the modern age? It’s too large for a private home. There’s the boutique hotel angle I suppose. But that would require even more investment as a lot of the castle still needs pricey renovations (and the property is price on application, so it already costs a fortune as is) and the place seems very isolated. Which could work in favor or against it, in that department 🤷♂️ then there’s not enough historical relevance to make that a main attraction (to those outside of Italy) as a museum either. It’s a quandary 🤔 still, a beautiful property and location.
it is a beautiful castle but it needs lots and lots of work, even if you want to preserve the historical part theres things like the kitchen that you need to change out of necessity, i think its a very hard property to sell, also i can not imagine how many things are protected by the city so renovations are going to be a hell of its own.
Hello, thank you for your comment. For further information on the price you can either write us an email at stefaniesmith@lionard. com or check out our website - Stefanie
I am due for retiring soon, and my plan is to move to Italy. We go there two or three times a year for a holiday, and we love it. So the main things I want to know about any property, firstly is the number of bedrooms/bathrooms, I expect our children and grandchildren to visit, quite often, so that is a NEED to know. But for some strange reason, you have stopped telling us on your website, as an easy fact finding option. I am having to open every property, and having to read all the info, just to glean this one simple but important fact. For this reason, I unsubscribed from your youtube channel and I no longer visit your website. I have found several excellent real estate agents, for Italy, that tell me these facts, easily, and I have a few properties ear marked. Shame really because I used to enjoy watching your videos ! Informative, well filmed, and flowed through the whole video nicely/expertly ! Shame your website cannot do the same. Arrivederci
Angel, I wish you would give some financial information for people like me , As; asking price, building tax. purchase tax. if needs some renovation , what must be done, what is the estimate cost.
Honestly, on one hand if I had tons of money, I would really want to have castle. I love castles. But on other hand, moment I start thinking of actual practicalities of living there it seem just antithesis of how we live in houses now. Not the upkeep, but just the layout. Core of modern layout is basically big kitchen/dining/living room space so you have central place to do stuff, and you can stay connected to people even when cooking, dining, entertaining etc. Along many other things.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! We completely understand your perspective-castles are unique and have a very different layout compared to modern homes. While the design might not fit the typical open-plan living that many people prefer today, the historic charm and grandeur of a castle offer a unique living experience. It's always interesting to hear how people imagine living in these spaces! We appreciate your feedback.
Who on Earth could afford to not only purchase this magnificent property but, to maintain it's upkeep and taxes ??? It would have to be a VERY rare buyer indeed . Even a family of bankers and their inheritors can't afford to keep it ... thus why it's on the market ? Perhaps a large hotel corp could do some with it with exclusive packaging to the well healed traveler.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! We completely understand the importance of preserving such beautiful properties. Each estate has its own unique story, and we’re proud to share them. If you'd like more information, feel free to contact us!

It looks like it is operated as a museum right now. That old fashioned kitchen is not very functional by modern standards.
