CaseIH Magnums are going to go down in history as one of the best and most reliable tractors to ever come off the assembly line

I love my 8900 series. Their transmission is absolutely bullet proof.. My tractor has 14000 hrs. and I never touched the engine or transmission except for oil changes and transmission flushes.

Our 285 magnum has front suspension....we have pull straws to see who gets to drive our 8920 when they are on the same field....best tractor we, have ever bought.

Looking at the promotional video just now and seeing the tractors at work in the field its very obvious that front suspension was seriously missing .great engines but looks like a very rough ride

A friend who deals in used equipment has 2 questions about a magnum. Does it need paint, and does it need tires?
I notice there's no mention of the IH engineering in it. Cab shape/position, 3 pt and drawbar, self-cleaning cab filter, 18 speed transmission with equal gear spacing......

Still running our 8920, 7220 and 7210 yet. The 8920 and 7220 have over 9000 hours and been great.

Improvement over the 86 series for sure...can't even see the drawbar or 3 point hitch out the back. And don't even get me started on the ride quality and shifting.

Very ironic that these tractors were for the next decade when they were replaced by the MXs in 1998 just 2 years after they were introduced

Magnums are nice tractors and all. But they run so frickin' HOT! Undersize radiators and lack of enough air passing through them. The hood and styling looks good ... but cannot believe the design engineers put the emphasis on that instead of enough cooling vents for air to escape - especially on the 30 and 40 series. Try touching the inside of the windshield right above the dash when working em' .. its about like a stove burner.

Quite possibly the dumbest complaint ive ever heard is the windshield gets hot..if your radiator is properly cleaned, take of right side panel and swing out Trans cooler and condenser clean properly the tractor well remain in proper operating temp..

      @@uhohspagettioh97531 Okay Gilligan!
Great tractors .. lots of power. But the early 30 and 40 series ran hotter than hell when working them hard!! Wimpy little radiator ..and not enough airflow got through that fancy 90s space age hood with no exit louvers anywhere.
It all squeezed out right by the windshield.

Deere's 8000 tractors are much better than this "toys". Spacious cab, good 8,1l power tech engine, many h.p under the hood ...the best on the plains

We use to have a 8420 John Deere we traded it for a caseIH 260 that was a good trade we traded that 8420 at the being of 2012 and we been using that 260 ever since then it has been a good tractor
