I had double jaw surgery 7 weeks ago now and to say that ANY part of recovery is "easy" as the gentleman in the video says was completely inaccurate in my experience. Having said that, I'm already glad I had the surgery as now my face is more aesthetically pleasing and most importantly I will be able to eat like a normal person =) to anyone complaining about having braces, yes they do suck but having a beautiful smile with teeth that fit together for the rest of your life is priceless in my opinion!
My underbite causes me to bite my upper lip, when I eat, it is painful and frustrating. Ive had an underbite all my life and feel its getting worse. I am 45 years old and finally considering jaw surgery.
I'm sure there's no free Teeth repair :'( i have underbite teeth and no one wants to fix it.. I have jaw pain sometimes and I really hate it. I'm jealous to my friends and all ppl who smile so good unlike me :'( i'm using my hankie to cover my smile and while eating. My parents r both no job. My father is a part-time carpenter and mom is just at home. Just tnx for inspiring :)
Dont be a victim of your past but architect of your future. I believe you can over come any situation bro, Just believe in yourself and just believe that you can over power any situation you encounter
The sooner the better, but there is no rush either. My parents could not afford my braces or surgery, so here I am 41 years old doing it myself now that I can afford it. I just wish I decided to do it when I was younger and did not party and do other things so much.
"I find my overbite very painful". "However Community Support Groups could be set up for people with Jaw problems i.e. overbite or under bite so these people do not become lonely and isolated because of their Jaw pain".
I had lefort one and as a side effect I ended up with a skeletal deep bite, worse effects than original problem, which neither the surgeon or orthodontist has yet recognised.
what about for slightly uneven chins which cause one side of the mandibular to curve in?? because mine does that.. you can even see in my profile picture that the right side of my jaw curves to the left a little...
sir, I am diagnosed skeleton class ii with mandibular retrognathism, vertical low angle, bimax protrusion and acute WLA.. They prescribed treatment plan as 4/4 extraction followed by fixed? please elaborate.. what is the best possible treatment? i do not want any complex surgery for that like mandibular plates placement etc..
My jaw looks so horrible because it's pushed backwards. I have a bad underbite in my opinion. This causes me to have social and psychological problems mostly. I can't pronounce some words like I'm meant to, so I sound really weird. I have braces right now and my doctor said I will get an orthonditic surgery very soon, I'm not sure when that will happen
Can you chew food after surgery or do you have to drink through a straw for a few weeks? I'd be scared of braking a bracket or my jaw off after surgery, haha.
I’m late but when you get unwired you can chew food but start slow for 3 weeks by eating foods that can easily be cut with by a fork and then you can gradually add more chewier foods
I had to get braces cuz I had freaking spaces between my teeth. They were small, and the orthodontist said I didn't have to get them, but my mom made me anyway 😒😒🙄
I desperately need this surgery my lower jaw is pushed way back and I have no chin but I’m to embarrassed to ask friends and family for help😭 dm2.gofund.me/ortho-surgery
JustinThemed23 some bones take 10 years to recover, but still you can use them 1 or 2 months after broken. I think for a full recover this time is fantastic.
You're so lucky, it sure sucks to be living in a third world country 😖 hoping I can get mine soon, I think the earliest time I can undergo this surgery is after 5 years😞
+KidTigerMC Your bones stop growing at 16, but you may hale to wait longer. I got told I need this surgery on both my jaws when I was 13, got braces at 17 and had the surgery 2 weeks ago at the age of 20!
+KidTigerMC I had the surgery 2 weeks ago for the upper jaw going forward, from my understanding, my surgeron said the lower jaw takes longer healing, since the lower jaw does all the movement and you upper jaw just kind of sits there.I still have a bit of swelling in my upper cheeks but should be gone fully around 4 weeks, so another 2 weeks, and get the elastics off soon as well, so will be able to chew food again instead of just downing protein shakes, and vegetable shakes :p
I'm getting mine when I go to university which kinda limits choices as I can't exactly move too far away haha :3. How long is after surgery before you can open your mouth fully and chew? also does it start to become sore as the numbness fades? and if so how bad?
+SimplyAWitch9 I think it's 6-10 weeks post op that you are allowed to start chewing soft foods and about 2 months until you can chew normal food, until then you're on a liquid diet.
Yamashta I am having surgery for my massive overbite. I had a 16mm overbite and over jet and with 2 years of braces it has gone down to 10mm. I was able to put my thumb behind my top teeth the gap was so big. I was given the OK to schedule a meeting with my surgeon today to plan my surgery. I just don't know if I need just lower surgery or both upper and lower yet.
danieluan89 They're not in contact with each other, no. Most of the teeth in my mouth meet okay enough, but I have a really bad overbite like I said, so my lower jaw I think is a lot smaller/shorter than my upper jaw.
+Rachel Reid hi.. since u got jaw surgery how was the process of healing ? they say brtween 9 to 12 months.. under these months do u have to go to the doctor for regular check up or how is it ?
tbforlife45 No exact date yet. Still waiting for referral. Have been told by the dentist he is certain I will need it. Just very scared about it all..I think they need to bring my top jaw back a bit...but I'm unsure of where they'll cut etc..worries me!!!
Wait.... Why would it cause psychological problems, unless someone SAID something, or bullied her--which should be illegal, or made fun of her-- which is against the law under the Adult Abuse Code in my county and should be for all children too.

liamlynchfan What happens before surgery? Don't they make you sleep somehow?
Nenmeu 16 you mean for the actual surgery? yeah you're put under general anesthesia
Whats that?
Nenmeu 16 Google it.
May I ask which class were you?
I've had 2 different jaw surgeries and I can tell you that this video is VERY informative!
Thank you , this was very helpful
My underbite causes me to bite my upper lip, when I eat, it is painful and frustrating. Ive had an underbite all my life and feel its getting worse. I am 45 years old and finally considering jaw surgery.
Thomas Sangster ain't no need this because he already have his damn perfect jawline
I have an over bite but I have weak bones and I'd rather not get them cut.

Knew this guy who had this surgery done for free when in the Army
What about is my low jaw it slightly tilted, but also hang behind my upper teeth a bit?

How to protect nerves in maxilla ?
What if you have a perfect bite but a skewed face/underdeveloped jaw? Can a patient still have orthognathic surgery?
Maybe functional orthodontics would b better for you

I’m late but when you get unwired you can chew food but start slow for 3 weeks by eating foods that can easily be cut with by a fork and then you can gradually add more chewier foods
I need that gummy smile surgery and double chin but it freaks me outttt
Did you get it??
can jaw surgery help make the face more symmetrical after it has become asymmetrical over the years and orthodontic treatment?
Yes, I heard that it helps the face more symmetrical.
That's true. It varies for each situation.
Yes it can help the face to be more symmetrical.
Are the screws in the jaw going to set off metal detectors?
No
No the screws are titanium
If only they were adamantium. WOLVERINE!
I had to get braces cuz I had freaking spaces between my teeth. They were small, and the orthodontist said I didn't have to get them, but my mom made me anyway 😒😒🙄
But u feels better after u get the braces out, smile brighter (but I stg braces is torture)
whats the cost for class 3 surgery
I desperately need this surgery my lower jaw is pushed way back and I have no chin but I’m to embarrassed to ask friends and family for help😭 dm2.gofund.me/ortho-surgery
Can they do an upper jaw surgery if you have an implant or two or will it get in the way?
it doesn't matter
I'm sorry but he lost me when he said 9-12 months , WTFFF 😱😱😱
JustinThemed23 some bones take 10 years to recover, but still you can use them 1 or 2 months after broken. I think for a full recover this time is fantastic.
Wow i'm lucky i'm living in Denmark, i'm not going to worry about the costs of the surgery.. at all.. . :)
Must be nice 😊
me too
Oh really? That's nice :)
IJ BKV good for you.
You're so lucky, it sure sucks to be living in a third world country 😖 hoping I can get mine soon, I think the earliest time I can undergo this surgery is after 5 years😞
i need 3rd classification
I have had braces on my teeth but I still have a small cross bite help
Ive heard to correct such bites you may need a functional appliance
When I turn 16. I have to get this surgery for my lower jaw.
+KidTigerMC i have to get it for my upper jaw!!!
+KidTigerMC how much for your surgery??
+KidTigerMC Your bones stop growing at 16, but you may hale to wait longer. I got told I need this surgery on both my jaws when I was 13, got braces at 17 and had the surgery 2 weeks ago at the age of 20!

i thought all these problems were fix by realigning the bottom jaw, didnt expect peices of your skull to be removed
i thought so too😭
I'm getting mine when I go to university which kinda limits choices as I can't exactly move too far away haha :3. How long is after surgery before you can open your mouth fully and chew? also does it start to become sore as the numbness fades? and if so how bad?

Ciiitron Thanks, is it true your teeth are wired shut for a while to prevent movement?
SimplyAWitch9 Sometimes they're wired with actual metal wires, but most of the time these days they just use removable bands to keep the jaw shut.
can jaw surgery be reversed reversed?
is it common/possible that a patient undergoes jaw surgery before braces?
SminaBamBina really late but you have to have braces before the surgery
fucks I had lower jaw surgery no difference from before and after just like 19 20
class 2 malloclusion for me
may i ask, how much is the surgery...?
I'm from Philippines..,may i ask how much?
250k-500k depending on how bad the jaws are
How much does this surgery cost?
+FissileSky It depends on where you live, but this procedure can range from $20,000 to $40,000 without health insurance. Hope this helps :)
i'm gettin 3 this summer.
Gboythunda howd it go?
Next Month i have the same surgery on my jaws. how do i feel after surgery? and during a surgery?
Prasanth Jackson update? How are you now?
I am so scared.
Me too. Did you get it done?
I have a MASSIVE overbite. Is that fixable with surgery? LOL
What do you mean by massive? I have an obervite too but I don't know how bad is it
danieluan89 My top jaw's front teeth completely hide my lower jaw's teeth. I can fit my pinky into the gap between my upper and lower jaws.
Yamashta Your top front teeth hide your lower teeth but they're not in contact with each other? that's why you have a gap, am I right?
Yamashta I am having surgery for my massive overbite. I had a 16mm overbite and over jet and with 2 years of braces it has gone down to 10mm. I like
His jaw looks smaller and so his face is less masculine
Don’t do it
Go the natural and risk free route
Mewing and buteyko
Wait.... Why would it cause psychological problems, unless someone SAID something, or bullied her--which should be illegal, or made fun of her-- which is against the law under the Adult Abuse Code in my county and should be for all children too.
Low self esteem and depression are probably what they meant.
+Harley Steele yeah
how much does it cost$$$????
