    Great video I'd already ordered an adapter and I saw this when waiting for it to arrive. I wasn't too impressed, it works but it's not really big enough for the 2" or 3" Roloc discs.
    I decided to make something that would take a standard backing pad. The ones on ebay that fit 1/4" die grinders come with a 1/4" UNC thread. I used the collet holder that comes with the mini grinder and drilled and tapped it 1/4" UNC and then filed down the head of a 1/4"UNC screw in a drill so it could be screwed into the collet holder and with that attached to the grinder a standard rubber backing pad can be used.

    Great video very informative. I’ve just bought a Katsu 3” Angel Grinder, a nice little tool. I’m just getting back into DYI and a small project I’ve in mind.
    I’ve bought the Roloc Adapter as recommended in your video. However, I need some advice further please on the various accessories & attachments I can buy & use with the Katsu… Arbours, size, sanding disc’s, etc etc etc…
    Any advice would be helpful and invaluable…
    Thanks

      Hi, thank you for your comment, I use this tool for cleaning up surface rust on metal so can only mention the discs I use, which are zirconium usually blue in colour and available from eBay. They last longer than the cheaper sand paper type usually brown in colour, but buy in bulk as it’s much cheaper and they don’t last long.👍

    Hello Steve,
    This is a great video, thankyou. It's ideal for me because the box I received (like yours) had no instructions for the set-up of the parts provided. The bigger 115 angle grinders are scarey, so this mini-grinder is perfect for me. And you introduced the idea of being able to use it with roloc sanding discs, so that's a very useful bonus. Avon are out-of-stock of the adapters at the moment, so that benefit will have to wait. One question, though: the parts provided included two pairs of washers. One pair is with the Dremel collet stuff and there's a bigger pair. I have no idea what these washers are for. You didn't use any in the video, as far as I can tell. I have unpacked the pieces now, so I cannot recall whether the bigger pair of washers was within the bag of discs provided. Can I please ask your advice about what these washers are for? Many thanks for your help. With Kind Regards, Mark Clark

      Hi Mark, thanks for your positive comments. I’m sure your not the first person who has asked what the washers are for and to be honest I’m not sure myself they don’t seem necessary for use with the cutting discs, maybe a bit of belt and braces for very thin discs ,who knows. Enjoy your new toy 😀
      All the best Steve

    I see this grinder advertised with a 1/8' Dremel collet attachment. If they would have included a 1/4" collet, as well, all die grinder bits would fit, including the 1/4' shaft roloc holder. It does me no good as the 120 volt model for the US seems to be no longer available

      Go phase to phase on your house wiring, that will provide 220volts in USA.

    I'm thinking of getting one these myself. Mainly for the same purposes as you; Sanding and rust removal on my truck. However, I'm wondering if you ever tried it with a burr in it. eg. for weld tidying and, if so, was it up to the job?

    • @stevesclassicgarage9464
      @stevesclassicgarage9464  2 года назад +1

      I have not tried it but you may find that as this is a fixed speed machine it will run too fast and burn out the bit. I use these bits in a battery drill to give some control over the speed in the same way you would with an air tool. 👍🔧

      I had a quick look myself and couldn’t find it either, I believe they were made by a small company local to me and with everything going on may no longer produce it.

    Hi Steve, am trying to do exactly the same, but no luck in finding the adaptor on Ebay and Avon Engineering not responding. Hoping you might know an alternative source? Have tried to sort with a Female M10 to Male M6 adaptor. The M6 fits the roloc plate, but the M10 female thread won't screw down on the Katsu male. Currently at a dead end :) Was amazed to find your video - thanks Paul

      Hi Paul I don’t know of an alternative source but please read the comment left by a viewer who describes how he modified a standard Roloc backing pad to fit. You could copy his solution or it might at least give you an idea another of your own best regards Steve 👍🔧

      @@stevesclassicgarage9464 Many thanks Steve, unfortunately I'm not engineering minded - would you know what the thread is on the male on the Katsu - as I said the M10 female only turns on 1 thread and seizes... best Paul

      The easiest way would be to get an M10 (assume it's a standard angle grinder to M14x2 adaptor then buy a roloc holder from Flexipads threaded for m14x2. You can buy a genuine 3m M14 roloc holder but you're looking at £20+, Flexipads are about half the price.
      I use the Flexipads holder directly on my M14 angle grinder and it's great, a lot better balanced than trying to adapt a normal roloc holder.

    • @davidhughes4089
      @davidhughes4089 Год назад

      @@stevesclassicgarage9464 you can get M14 threaded roloc holders from places like Flexipads, just add an M10 to m14x2 adaptor to the grinder, screw it on and you're good to go 👍

      I haven't measured my own but I'm fairly sure that the M10 on the Katsu is fine. M10X1.25?
