Grounded is a perfect example of how publishers and marketing deadlines can really hurt a good game. I am happy to see yhe developers still working on it for sure. I think this is the point that Larian Studios was trying to make when other developers got salty about Baldur's Gate being an anomaly when in reality it should be the standard to set the bar as high as possible, publishers be damned. A great product will sell itself, word of mouth has always been stronger than some flashy marketing campaign.
I actually thought Obsidian did a really great job on Grounded, especially with it being the first type of game like this for their studio. Very different from everything else they've made and it was pretty good from the get go, but did need some improvements. With Baldurs Gate 3, we still don't know exactly how good it will be yet, hasnt full released. But at the very least they've had their hand dipped into that formula for 25+ years. So HOPEFULLY it will launch good. With everything they've shown and said, it does look promising. Lots of games do though, so we will have to see. I'm ready to see if it's good.
I thought Grounded was very well liked and was one of the more popular survival game. Its a great game imo and very polished compared to ALOT of other survival games

I was always hopeful they would add more content to the game but I wasn’t so sure because of the nature of the game. Then 1.2 came out and I was so happy and hearing that they’re working on more content gets me really excited for the future
Good video as usual, in terms of what you said about story changes to give a reason to play through again, possibly they could integrate a side story to search for the 5th kid which leads you to collecting clues from the optional bosses, and upper yard biome, leading you to the new area which once you clear it could unlock the 5th character, (along with other things like new bugs, boss, equipment, etc) from it.
I’m like a drug addict when it comes to anything 80s, I fell in love with this game and the art style as well, the graphics fit it so well and it’s just such a perfect game to me, I hate how they are leaving this behind when it still has so much fucking potentia!
I remember this being in early access, it was fun, but now it seems so empty. The devs for grounded really suprised me and surpassed my expectations, honestly my new favorite survival game atm
I'm finally playing all the way through. I tried it a few times before but never kept to it. It's such a great game, honestly at this point if they put out a DLC and charged $40 for it I'd pay. They're amazing developers. When they do finish I can't wait to see what they do next. Their attention to detail is insane.
i hope they do what rare is doing where the grounded devs can continue to update add new content and work on it for years and years and arent forced to stop production
I just started to play Grounded. A friend from work was into it while I was throwing down on some Rust. It was on sale so I decided to give it a try and I can say that it is super fun. I can tell the content will be limited. But for now it has been worth the try.
I discovered the game a month ago and fell in love with it immediately. Already have 100h in the game, out of all labs I checked only the one in the hedge, been to 6 biomes but completed only hedge fully, the rest is barely explored haha I build a lot, playing with one more person and it's great. Yeah, I see some bugs and issues with the game but it is not that bad. I have this fixation in games on getting to know full potential of everything I already have and only then explore something new. So happy to see the game is being developed still. Hopefully it will be for years and the studio can profit out of this gem, because it is totally worth it.
Christ, that's reaaaally slow, I respect the building hustle, but I reccomend blitzing the labs as they unlock tons of new cool decor and building materials
Glad you acknowledge that people who heavily play early access games and then cry about "no new content" isn't really a fair criticism. This game released in Sept. of 22, it's not even a year old. For those of us who just bought the game recently, on a Steam Sale, it's an awesome game. In addition - video games used to be you would buy a game, play it through, and then play a new game when you're done. Not every game has to be like WoW that you play new content for 3 decades. A game can be great even if you just play it through once as long as it's fun!
I love this game my dad showed it to me when it first came out and i showed it to most of my friends and they liked it too so this game will always have a place in my heart. btw does anyone else remember the old broodmother that was just a wolf spider.
Yknow what. I agree. I think the fact that the devs are still working on it even after all the complaints show how they are dedicated to their game and want it to leave a good final impression. As to how they are allowed to still work on it, I think because the grounded team is a fairly small team (despite Obsidian being much larger), Mictosoft is allowing this small team to continue to work on the game. Also probably because big uodatss to grounded might encourage suckers to buy gamepass
Grounded is one of the most rounded complete survival games ever created. The ability to have your friends play this game just adds to its greatness. That said if I played it for 1000 hours I'd never look at a blade of grass again. It took me awhile to start playing it, but once I did it's definitely top 3 on my survival list
It spawns as treasure in the canyons of the upper yard and as treasure in the sandbox. It also respawns in the trash heap and there might be some in the canyons in the Haze area.
Im a new player and your 100% correct. This game was so well needed for me. A game that brings me true joy and happiness. Its just fun and exciting. A breath of fresh air for me
Given the long dev time of the next update I am kind of hopeful that we get the laundry room or basement or something from the house. Really want to get a few more recycled human-sized objects in the game. Button/bottle cap shields, actual needle rapier, etc. Go full The Littles with it.
I'm going to be extremely honest here: I really enjoyed your Grounded older content. You were informative, to-the-point, and seemed to share a passion for the game as I--and the rest of your audience--did. But as time went on, that passion seemed to die down and I believe that you became hypercritical of the game. You slowly went from logical takes about the future state of the game, to downright hating on it with a (maybe indirect) sense of hostility. As a result, your newer content had a different feeling; always felt negative, hypercritical, and you just seemed to radiate with such a pessimistic and almost brazenness that made me dislike you. And as a previous frequent viewer of your content, watching you slowly go from giving constructive feedback to eventually just hating on the smallest of small issues was really really upsetting to me. The game itself already has a small community, and you began to use the numbers you amassed *from this game* to eventually turn a portion of the community against it. Whether or not you or anyone reading this agrees with my points, I think that Grounded gets more hate than it deserves. But seeing this pop-up in my feed was a surprise, I am glad to see that you proved MY assumptions about you wrong too with this video. You gained back my respect and I could tell that you made this video with genuineness, and was not just trying to tell people what they wanted to hear. At the end of the day, I think we both have something to learn from this experience and I hope that my honesty will help you shape your future content as well. I do not despise you and never did, I just disliked the message you were putting out for possible newcomers or enjoyers of the game. Thank you. Also, I want to let it be known that I believe some of the points you made were extremely valid and I am not trying to disagree with you just to disagree, but I wish that you brought these issues up with a positive or constructive demeanor.
I hope you do get to go indoors. If this has been cooking for a minute, I could see a string of updates that each give you access to a new room. As for bugs, please give me infected aphids or a cicada event.
Love that you accepted that they were going farther than you accepted past those bug fixes and stuff these guys got some imagination because they're keep going after this adding more and more still after so much
I do hope they revamp the story with the content they are adding. I didnt have too much of an issue with it in its current form, but it'd be really cool to play a new interation of the story with additional content.
I always wanted a prequel with a couple of the “evil” scientists capturing bugs etc for ORK. This leads to a hack slash survival as a mutant bug escapes from containment after a spy from a rival firm tries to breach the garden. You’ve got to lock down the labs to prevent the info getting stolen. Capture and modify a few bugs. Take samples from around the world- introduces a couple places that gets removed, destroyed, permanently locked off.

Curious if you still have the four extra, bonus art pieces that they gave the players since beta? Many people have had them taken away or never received them when the game was officially released? Not sure why @ObsidianEnt lied about giving those out if they only gave it to a handful of players or why they removed them out of player's inventories.

Hardly anyone is playing grounded anymore. They refuse to fix the issues in the game still. Small team that just can't figure out how to make a good game work
A dropoff was inevitable that happens with every game. The game has been averaging 5k players per day on Steam the last few months and that represents a small percentage of the playerbase.
