Have a kayak fishing video filmed with the action 2 dropping tomorrow it needs some firmware work but it's OK. Not sure how it will handle 90 degree Outdoor Temps and direct sunlight on the kayak.
Haters are GoPro fanboys/girls who haven't even used any other cameras. I personally love DJI action cams. I use the original osmo action, and watching this video to see if I'll treat myself to an early xmas present.
It looks like Insta360 is not liking people to recommend vs. there Insta360 go2 and a lot of influencers are getting those for free. I have the insta360 r and love it but this kills the go 2
I also got the Action 2 and going through the same testing phase. So far, like you have pointed out, it has some limitations like the short battery life at higher resolution settings. So far, I can see this camera as more of a situational use device to supplement that of the first Osmo Action rather than to replace it. The former (Osmo Action) has been my most-used vlogging camera because of its ease-of-use and quick operation, not to mention its good image and sound quality.

Notice that RUclips compresses every video a lot, and the quality you see here (although quite decent) is not the same as when you look at your footage on the computer before the upload. When I swapped to the 4K res option on the youtube player I could see a big improvement. I'm definitely getting one b4 xmas 2021
Only problem is your face is out of focus. Oa2 and oa3 has that subtle problem even 1 has a bit. Have oa2 and that focus issue drives me crazy so that I did not open the box yet for selling it faster.
It's not a perfect camera, but then again, none of them are. I thought it was really fun to use, but it takes some trial and error to figure out the best way to use it.
Sound is actually mono until the low light test - I suspect you were using the camera module on its own, which only has one mic, for the daylight footage. But never mind that - good creative use and some lovely moments with the world's most adorable baby!
@@Gemini_Connect If you check the sound settings when only the camera module is in use, you'll see that all the options have disappeared. The single mic on the camera module is very good but it can't produce stereo! Once the screen module is attached, adding mics at the rear and sides, you then get the wonderful immersive stereo image which is a great feature of this device.

I feel like that the footage from this camera looks very similar to that of the Sony X3000. However, the Osmo Action 2 looks great on lense settings (ultra, wide, standard). I was very impressed how good it looked when you zoomed in to the vine glass.
Great video and thanks for sharing. I had the Action 1 for a while and I used for my FPV drone footage. Now I bought the Action 2 for its weight and size compare to the Action 1 for my FPV drone flying. I love the Action 2 camera and it's my daily driver so far.
Thanks, I like the tiny size of the Action 2 - perfect for bicycle touring and everyday shots like what you shared with us. Currently using GoPro 8 which works just fine, but a bit heavy on a headmount and slow to switch mounts. Your little one is so cute!
A good real life test of the action 2 , as you said most cameras in low light would struggle but the lune cube worked a treat . The little fella was enjoying himself with dad 👍 look forward to seeing more tests with the Dji atb Dave

I noticed you're wearing a Rode wireless Go microphone, so I just want to clarify whether any audio might be coming from that. Also, if not, can you or have you connected the Rode wireless Go (or Go 2) system to the DJI Action 2?
Good question. Yes, the audio in these videos is coming from the Action 2. We're wearing Rodes because we were also filming with our GoPro setup in between takes for a travel vlog. You can actually plug the Rode into the Action 2 via the USB-C port and it will connect.
I mention it at the end of the video. It lasted about 17:40 minutes while shooting 4K30 with just the camera mod. Connecting the screen Mod would roughly double the time.

Hi I just purchased the device a day back. When i record in 1080 or 4k @24fps, observed screen flickering couple of times. Is it happening in all devices or mine only. Secondly if I play a clip there is no sound. How do I adjust volume
Cam this make it through a 30 minute dinner without shutting off on 1080? Most videos with this cam on other channels the audio. Your audio is good did you raise it or tweak it?
Audio is straight out of camera; levels were raised slightly for clarity, but no other editing. This camera could possibly go for 30 minutes straight, but it would be pushing its limits.

I love the InstaGo2. The main thing I don't like is that you can't add a memory card and only have internal storage. Also, it lacks an LCD to preview your shots. But it's small size is ace.
You got 17 minutes with the camera module only or with the screen module connected? I thought you would at least get 40 min to 60 minutes with the module attached?
Already have the Gopro10! Great camera! I love the DJI drones which I have several of.... Unfortunately I will not be purchasing this camera. I have the Osmo Pocket 1 which seems to take much better video. Even with the age... I understand they are two different kinds of cameras but the action 2 is suppose to have a better sensor. I'm very disappointed in this camera release. Better luck next time DJI.......
Agreed on many accounts. This is an entirely different camera than the original Osmo Action. It has a lot of potential, but it really needs some improvements to be better than the original version.
It’s a good little camera but also has many flaws. I wish the price just the camera is $200. I don’t need the power module., but it’s the only way to charge the camera.
Yeah maybe for short video shoots like you did it might be good, but this camera overheats too quickly for me doing long video shoots, so I returned the camera. For 500 dollars it is not worth it for me.

Your video did a great job of showing how bad this camera actually is. The colors, especially the sky, are unnatural. The wind noise on the microphone is excessive. The stabilization on the background is actually quite good, but you are jittery while walking. Then you show you only got 17 minutes of footage on the battery? How is any of that acceptable on a camera at this price? Every single person watching this would be better served using their smartphone to make a vlog like this. You should get your money back.
I agree. The stability is not terrible, but it is not as good as Hypersmooth on the GoPro. Part of what makes the Action 2 less stable is its lightweight size -- hard to keep it steady.

Yeah, it's a very wide lens, but it can be zoomed in a bit (supervise, wide, and standard dewarped are the 3 lens options).

Interesting -- the settings said it was in stereo. But I also heard the sound shift at the end.

No overheating. Only tested in 4K30fps for this round. Will do a 60fps test soon.

We're holding on to the DJI Action 2 for testing and comparison purposes. But for our vlogs and actual footage, we still prefer the GoPro Hero 10.

The video quality not that clear. it looks like a low quality resolution video. Every time the camera moved the footage look choppy
It was shot in 4K. The image quality as a whole looked good IMO, but the image stability isn't the best compared to other cameras like GoPro.
Do I need external mic for Action 2?
If you are shooting in windy conditions, YES. These mics are horrible in the wind.

Not currently. It needs a 3.5mm mic jack to do that, and I believe that will come as a separate mod of add-on later.

More thoughts and testing to come, but I agree with many of your points.

Crazy jumpy, nothing to do with 'stability'. Not impressed, sorry to say.
this is jumpy? have you used any camera aside action cameras? these are the best easily. no camera ever is better than action cameras stabilization.
Horizon levelling was not used, only "rocksteady" which does a great job apart from levelling.

Horizon leveling is only available when shooting in 1080p or 2.7K; this video was shot in 4K.
