@@Eltokeruno Tough question for I like them both. The action 2 is great as an action cam. I love it’s small size and light weight as it makes it easy to mount it anywhere and get some really cool shots. In that sense it is much more versatile than a GoPro for example. However, the pocket 2 is fantastic when you are walking around and want to shoot handheld videos.

Yes I would agree I was so so much disappointed for over heating and it shuts off I've given it back and went for gopro hero 9
The best video yet. I have the original Osmo Action & the Pocket 2. I'm underwhelmed with the Action 2, but a big fan of DJI. The Action 2 has a Pro mode, but no way of using ND filters so what use is that. It still has a 2.8 lens so it isn't as good as the faster Pocket 2 lens, so not so good in low light. The Action 2 doesn't have the inexpensive batteries of the original Action & so isn't as good for longer shoots. It needs the rear facing screen to get the extra battery time, but to have several of the rear facing screen modules for the batteries is ridiculous. The Action 2 has no 3.5mm jack plug socket. There is no QS option as the original Action has, which I use lot. The Action 2 is only semi waterproof as you mentioned. The internal memory without the rear facing screen is only 22.4gb useable, because the Micro SD card is mounted in the rear facing screen module.
I'm definitely sticking with my original Osmo Action & my Pocket 2.

Does the lanyard support the camera and the power module? Also another RUclipsr discovered the overheating problem is reduced by using either the extra screen attached or the power module with an sd card and saving directly to the sd card instead of the camera memory. Thank you for the videos they really help.
Yes! The magnets are really strong.
We did not find any overheating issues in a normal use.

cool comparison 👌😎thanks for sharing, i use osmo pocket 2 for now. I found this gimbal steering very useful. But i wish dji osmo pocket 2 to have replacing battery, and attaching lens non magnetic just simple screw or mechanical, Because my fov lens often disconnects. This magnet is week.
What is the camera setup you used to shoot the video. Main footage is so good that Dji footage looks bad.

Just subbed. I just got the P2 so enjoying it. I already have the GP10 last month may skip on this one as it will be redundant for me. I also think DJI needs time to design and work out all the issues before this design takes off. 3rd party accessories and their ecosystem will be key for adoption.
I don’t get all these overheating concerns. An action camera or any camera that is waterproof cannot defy thermal physics. Heat needs to go somewhere and if you don’t put any passive or active cooling solutions, expect it to overheat.
Having said that, action cams are not studio cams. It is meant to take outside and doing some active sports which will have airflow and some level of wind. That will help reduce heat build up.
Be good to test it where if you can turn off the LCD on the main module and for the second LCD module with battery, will that improve any overheating concerns.
There should be a overheating guide for most who are not familiar with thermal physics and how to work around it.

You're right about the overheating. We did not find any problem with that in normal use.
Said that, you have in the Action2 a set-up so you can set it to shut down the camera at 53ºC.

Nice video. Try guys shooting at 2.7 60fps. Is much more better generally. In the past i was using 4k 1080 , but the option of 2.7 60fps is the best . 2.7 is mostly for fast performance but even for walking is nice.
Pocket 2 battery is internal, but you can connect a power bank to it. I was so hyped for the Action 2, but hearing a lot of overheating issues :(
Hi Brian, we did not find any overheating problems in any of our shootings. Of course if you're using the high specs possible, the camera is gonna get hot, but it's the same in all the cameras of the market. People is talking about that because the either did not tested it, want to talk rubbish about DJI or wants views.

I’m not against DJI, got an Air 2 (brilliant) and a Pocket 2 (decent but flawed)…. Really wanted the Action 2 to be great, but most comparison vids I’ve seen; the overheatings a significant issue they need to fix. If it can do 4K, it should be able to do it for more than 5 mins.
What about the app? is it free?
It looked like the action 2 had better color/video quality....
I can't decide.. I need it to film walking around nature (forest, beach, also, nature sounds) so the audio is important.. sometimes inside a forest is important that not to loose quality.
I was inclining to buy the gopro hero 9.. but I wont pay a subscription app to actually use it... the camera is really expensive enough!!
I think I’m skipping the action 2. I’m very happy with the pocket 2 and the action 1. However, after seeing your videos, I’m more inclined to spend it on a nice mirrorless and nice glass. Lol. The quality of your videos is superb and when you combine it with the DJI clips, the more I want a bigger camera. 😎. Great content!

The action 2 looks great for fpv, I'm just concerned with the overheating issue and the geofencing technology. We call that snatching defeat from the jaws of victory dji.
I have been using the action 2 for more than a month and didn't have a single overheating issue :)

@@luisquinones2108 I have pocket 1 (used for many years) and action 2 (new), I would recommend to buy the pocket better unless you need it for hand free or use for drone or mount at somewhere to record. Action stabilization does not work well in low light(include cloudy day) or indoor, pocket can record video in low light and indoor, is the best video recorded camera of the smallest size. Action 2 ultrawide or wide could see fisheye on 16:9 screen, the dewarp is the best mode for use. Action 2 not have overheating issue on record 1080p but 4k will overheat between 7-15 minutes.

There is a huge difference of how each camera handles low light situations. As wide as the difference between how the Pocket 2 handes sports than the Action 2. Different tools for different situations. Would love to add the Action 2 to my Pocket 2 but can’t see replacing Pocket 2 with the Action 2.

if you are not use for hand free to record, just buy wide angle lens to add to pocket 2 if you need more fov. Action 2 stabilization doesn't work well in low light or indoor and have overheat issue in 4k.

Pocket 2 does have a narrower fov. Pocket 3 needs to update the lens for larger fov. Manual stabilization is definitely better than action 2 electronic stabilization

Did you use the wide angle lens on the Pocket 2 when recording the footage (beside the fov test)?
P2 is f1.8 and A2 is f2.8. Both have same sensor size 1/1.7” so the P2 will do better. Not sure if they use the same ISP chip though.
Also as a gimbal, P2 will still be stabilized while the A2 is digital stabilized in software with Rock Steady and Horizon Leveling (only at 2.7K) which if like Gopros, will struggle in lowlight and not work and need to be turned off and use a gimbal instead for better IQ.

It is individual lens from a 360 camera and therefore the sizes of things look dwarf ,
That's why this camera does not compete with the GoPro 10, it only competes with the insta360 Go 2, which is a pity for DJI to upgrade Osmo Action to this one.

The action 2 looks better, even tho pocket 2 is not going that far behind... but the thing is... I can get the extras where I live on the pocket 2 (like wireless microphone, the windbreaker, tripod, the creators content extras...) but not for the action 2.
I want to film walking in the city and in nature, so wind is something that bothers me because where I live there is much. Also, inside a forest the light is dim, and then you encounter a patch with light.. the camera should adapt to the light changes.. but you didn't showed that...

I don't get all the hate around action 2...after owning both pocket 2 and action 2 I can give you a lot of reasons why I decided to sell the pocket 2 and go with the action 2. First one is that with pocket 2 you have to buy ''do it all'' handle for 100+ bucks to have BT conectivity and a speaker. Pocket 2 is not waterproof. Mechanical gimbal is not suitable for action shots...if you attach it to a bike and there is a passing wind, the wind will shake the gimbal giving you absolutely horrible footage. Believe me, I bought the pocket 2 to mount it on my e-mountain bike...the only usable footage was when I was going extremely slow and there was no wind. Mechanical gimbal is of NO USE when you have external force (wind) shaking it!
Moreover, I like the action 2 wide field of view. With pocket 2 I sometimes struggeled to get us all in one shot.
Both use the same sensor 1/1.7 CMOS, however, all pocket 2 shots seem a bit washed out and not as detailed as pocket 2.
I have compared several of my own videos of pocket 2 vs action 2 and I like the video quality of action 2 better.
I know that there are many reviews saying the opposite but I guess it is a thing of personal preferences..
Stabilisation wise...action 2 has one of the best there is currently...

I would kill for a modern Action cam with all the newest features but that didn’t overheat so that I could wear it constantly while motorcycling.
I was so disappointed with my hero 10 and I was so hyped for the action 2, I was sure it would save me and be THE camera, I am so bummed I never could have imagined it would wind up having LESS RECORDING TIME before overheating than the hero 10. Why would I buy a action cam if it’s headline features can only be used for 180-300 seconds before overheating. That’s like back to the first 4K cameras. I am always complaining that dash cam’s are such low spec devices but maybe that’s just required to ensure reliability and constant recording time. Cant wait until 4K 60 dash cams are a thing. A reliable thing.
Hi Fee, as you said, if you want 4k 120 or 5k and incredible stabilization and horizon leveling and all the things that makes gp10 and action2 great, of course, they will overheat, end battery in 15-20 minutes, etc... Great specs in tiny cameras comes with a price.
gopro forces you to pay to use their app so you can use the videos you filmed. that's a nono!. DJI not.
@@cheesecake4648 no they don’t. I hate GoPro but I use it all the time, the app I mean, and I don’t pay the subscription. You only pay to get extra features like cloud storage and a extremely basic video editor built into the app, which is useless.
From all the negative and positive reviews i like the dji pocket way better.
For travelling we love the Pocket 2 too.
But if you want more "action" you will need another camera, like the "action" 2 haha.

For example for the microphone part you ask us to listen and make our own conclusion basically. Pocket 2 is better but a bit annoying to use so I just leave it on when filming lol takes too long to turn on then it has to recognise the do it all handle then recognise the external mic

Pocket 2 is better. The old action cam one was much better than the action cam two as it's alful design and overheating issues, sent my action cam two piece of junk back. My old dji action cam one is the number one for me, well made design with removable batteries

Hi DroneStories, of course Action 2 is an ultra-wide lense camera. In fact, it is needed for POV action sports. Said that, the horizon is really well corrected, even better than Gopro10.

Hummmmm.....no shortfalls? Short internal battery life and limited internal memory? Overheating? Moving large files? $75 for extra battery!

Both are below par. Still not competing with GoPro…maybe if it was 200 bucks cheaper…
They only use 12mp out of the 16mp sensor meaning it's closer to the same size sensor as v1 lol sony and DJI got us on the advertising smh 🤣🤣😭
Could be, but with this two cameras we don't need photo resolution, we need better video specs and fast readout of the sensor, less MPx are better.

Action 1 was way better. To much going on with this piece of junk. Pocket 2 needs to be more water resistant and be able to handle so real action...if it did that would be ultimate action gimbal.
I been watching review after review on this new product, and NO ONE is addressing the OVERHEATING issue. On top settings the POS overheats in about 3 mins and at 1080P in about 9 mins at best. Sorry to say this product is just junk ...they really got to address the overheating. Battery life on it sucks as well. For the price you are paying you would expect very high level of engineering. Pay a lil more the the GoPro 10, they at least have it dialed in reasonably well. DO NOT GET this product until they address the overheating...utter garbage.
I have been using it for a month and not a single time it overheated. I had 0 problems. Sometimes you guys should calm down a bit bc you saw that it overheated somewhere. There are defective units, people that just want to destroy a product etc. Remember, 0 overheating

We did not find any overheating issues as well as many creators because in a normal use you won't overheat it.
Many people on internet is trying to get views speaking about that "heat" problema that we couldn't find in any of our test and shoootings.
