    As a beginner, educate yourself: Learn the basics of investing and the stock market. There are many resources available online , including books, articles, and online courses. It’s a good idea to diversify your portfolio across different stocks and sectors to minimize risk. I’ve heard of people accruing over $550k during recessions and inflation, its important to do your own research

    I have been a dividend focused investor for a long time. This does not mean I don't own growth stocks, I do. A well rounded portfolio should be a mixture of both categories. One way to minimize the anxiety out of stock market investing, is to make sure you keep a large cash cushion. I invest in the market, but never put all my money in market.

    • @alexyoung3126
      @alexyoung3126 6 месяцев назад +3

      Dividends are dope. Personally, I sometimes use my dividends to buy other dividend and growth stocks for diversification instead of reinvesting in the same stock. To each their own methods though. The good thing is that you’re investing in the first place and that’s what’s important.

      I agree. Based on personal experience working with an investment advisor, I currently have $1m in a well-diversified portfolio that has experienced exponential growth. It's not only about having money to invest in stocks, but you also need to be knowledgeable, persistent, and have strong hands to back it up.

    The downfall of Silicon Valley Bank has caused significant damage to the worldwide financial markets. As a result, investors are scrambling to revise their projections for interest rate increases and hastily selling off bank stocks across the board. As someone who has invested 200k in stocks, I find myself at a pivotal moment, wondering whether it's wise to cash out my depreciating portfolio. What strategies should I adopt to make the most of this bearish market?

    • @TittyKentils

      The recent events with SVB make it unlikely for the market to make significant gains soon, so it's wise to manage expectations and prepare for a potentially long recovery period. It's recommended to avoid making significant investment decisions until the economic environment stabilizes in areas of concern. It's best to exercise caution and avoid engaging with the current turbulence

      The market is not necessarily a rollercoaster if you know your way around the market, there are various opportunities in the present market to accrue good profit, If you are not too savvy with the market, just buy and hold on strong companies with good earnings, or consult with advisors on ETFs and actively managed funds. that’s what works for my spouse and I. We've made over 30% capital growth minus dividends.

    I’m in my mid 20’s. At some point, my job almost took my life. I tried to leave but I couldn't because I felt I had no security until I hit the edge and couldn't go further. Being an avid reader, I came across a report by Northwestern Mutual on the same topic and found that if I choose to put a lump sum into solid investments, I am more likely to have a higher balance over time. Being a novice at the time, I saw that as a queue to get into the market. That was quite the turning point in my finance.

    My favorite pieces of investment advice:
    1.) NEVER try to time the market. If Warren Buffet can't do it, then neither can you.
    2.) Investing is a roller coaster of highs and lows, but the only people that get hurt are the ones that jump off in the middle. Leave your money alone, and don't hurt yourself by taking your money out.

      I am going to disagree with never pulling your money out. Every body has different goals for their money and it’s hard to believe - but saving for retirement is not the only goal. Some want to save for a house or save for their grandchildren or save for whatever. The key is to realize what you’re saving your money for. The stock market is a great place to put your money for minimum 5-7 years.

    Early saving and investing money creates compounds growth, it's a beautiful thing.But it takes focus and discipline. You need to be focused enough to commit to a plan and a process. I’m a dividend investor, my wife and I have invested in the s&p500, both through my TSP with the government and through fidelity in her 401-k. Cashed out 370k from the S&P and invested with a full service broker.. Until about 3years ago we were 100% in the s&p after over 30 years. I’m retiring at the end of the month at 59, while my wife will retire next year at 54. We currently have 5.7 million in out tex deferred savings.

    My advice is always to keep the majority in ETFs that cover multiple sectors. Then have a couple stocks, as a small percentage, picked out that you feel personally attached to or interested in. That way you can mitigate a lot of the risk but also have a personal touch to your portfolio. I feel this mitigates some of the emotional downsides or disinterest people have with investing. Also helps with the urge to constantly buy/sell with fluxes in the market. At this point I'm grateful I have an adviser, Susan Kay Mack . Credits to her, it has been a year and half of steady growth

      It works the same with real estate. I buy small houses on large lots in towns where new houses are being built on small lots. Eventually the large lot will either be split or someone will want to build a mansion there. It’s always a “good deal/good idea” if it’s a good company/property etc. market fluctuations are just gravy.

The market is a zero sum game and you could potentially lose all.
