A lot of people seem to forget when using a noise gate/expander: When both the signal you want and the signal you want to reduce (or not hear at all) come in at once, of course you gonna hear both, right? The whole expansion thing only takes care of the quiet parts in between, and not during the peaks.

A problem with many music- related help videos is that often times the creator gets an ego and starts thinking everyone wants to hear a long story about where he get his mic from, what hair products they use (I am exsgerrating) etc.... Hi I know nothing about gates and was brought here by a comment suggesting to use a gate, or a transient shaper plugin for plugins that are missing ADSR.
Probably went too far with the bottom snair mic IMO You've basically taken away Articulation from the snair "The triplet roll just before the down beat
