Can we even call china a rival at this point, they are basically just doing stuff by themselves while we “plan” to do something 😂
Nicely said 👍
100%correct
China was banned by US to any int'l space activities since 90s, how come they steal tech that US does not have. Blame everything on China is easy for stupid mind, but it won't help.
This is a Chinese saying: whatever US makes in Hollywood, China makes it in reality.
Well, "we" may be doing very little, but Elon Musk is testing a gigantic moon rocket for the fourth time today. So, really SpaceX vs China.
I think China's biggest ally in the race to the Moon is Boeing, or more specifically the accountants that are currently running Boeing.
No. The engineers have had enough money, they're completely useless.
And Boeing lobbiests.
China needs engineers which it has. Then it needs customers, which their competence will provide. If you need to put a rover on anywhere on the moon, you go to China. I am sure the cost will be way cheaper than building your own spacecraft. Save yourself the money and build space infrastructures and get them transported by China.
I think you're wrong. I believe China's biggest ally in the race to the Moon is the white house and nasa
Just so everyone knows. ORION space capsule was originally proposed to go in Mars. They can barely get the capsule to the space station. Go figure Boeing. I really when my dad was working on this project 20 years ago.
Yay another space race. About the only way we get anything done these days. Zero interest until China or Russia or whoever is going to get it done first. Then loooookout here we come😂
My feelings exactly....space race...and possibly arms race....in the not too distant future.
There was always interest. There are outside forces that have been holding us back from returning.
Yeah a loser calling the winner thief.

China stole American technology, so it makes sense that the United States does not have this technology.🤭😏
👍
He smoked so much cope he's delusional.. 💨💨
It's his coping mechanism.. he can't comprehend.
Chinese apply more patents than USA.
Americans don't understand the most obvious thing. If China surpass everyone technologically, who would they have to copy? Or if they invest something new, who did they copy? 🤔
They probably steal more patents than the USA.
One Chinese patent expert stated rather bluntly that only 10 percent of China’s patents have market value and that probably 90 percent of them are “trash.”
@@BoroBootBoy "One" patent expert? Is he expert on each tech area? When your patents are more, it is index for tech advantage. When you have less, you will change the standard. Bravo
@@BoroBootBoy china pened the majority of original scientific papers in the last few years. Put that in your cope pipe and smoke it. Puff puff
It is not a space race,,, it is a lunar real-estate race.
I see your point and I agree… fast forward 20 years and realestate on the moon will be a hot item
And the best real state are the south and north poles. The rest are 14 days of light and 14 days of total darkness. We better hurry
Righ now, as always, it will be about location, location, location.
cept sadly with china it's not just real-estate that'll be military power too :(
Looks like China will silently land humans on the moon before Artemis 2 😂😂
China has a clear plan, Chang’e 7, 8 then land human before 2030.
Yup. They have a solid plan and no political shenanigans are going to derail them. The Chinese government system has its advantages.
From now on, United States of Norway it is.
The US is laughable.
Most of the Gov is
The US government is more of a threat to its own people than China.
And since WE Americans ARE the American government...we all are laughable...
Don't worry... The USA will quickly catch up once they have successfully banned TikTok ... 😆
Sorry where do you live? I mean are you including SpaceX in this analysis which the Chinese are trying to copy? I guess we can rest easy waiting for ESA to go first right? Or beyond China show us the truly competitive space program…

I’m very curious on what exactly China stole from ISS?
There are two Chinese moon satellites to relate signals from the far side of the moon, one (Magpie Bridge 1) was for Chang’e5 and the second was launched March 2024 for Chang’e6.
One engineering deserves attention is the Chinese flag Chang’e6 carries. It’s made from granite, smashed granite, form string about 1/3 of human hair thickness and weaves into fabric. The idea is using rich supply of moon granite to create moon base construction materials.
The Chinese has a space station that is very similar to the ISS.
@@codetech5598 I looks very similar to your father since I have a head, two arms and two legs as his father has, can I say I am your uncle?
@@davidz7858 Let me be more specific. Many of the components between the ISS and Chinese space station are interchangeable.
@@codetech5598based on what I read Russia was interested in docking a Russian module to Chinese space station after ISS retires so gave or sold the connector design to China. The core/first ISS module was launched by Russia. I don’t know who invented that connector.
The station docking connectors are from Russia. The module connectors on the 'west' side of ISS are different; to the Russian side there is the same adaptor as for capsule docking on the US module.

No worry, the US can win again in Hollywood

Wow lots of bots or paid propagandists in comments.
Artemis is not much more than a glut for profit machines like boing.
Angry, you're totally right! We shouldn't underestimate the will and power of China to succeed and surpass traditional space identities. We don't have time to move on. It's necessary to accelerate and demonstrate excellence. Time to efficiently use our resources.
The panic is about China's success rate. Their success rate suggests they know more about Gravity and Electromagneticism that other scientists don't. They seem to be masters of the forces at play to the point their simulation is exactly what will happen with no obvious diviation. Whereas Emperor Musk is blowing up rockets and we think that is how Science should work instead of asking how competent the Engineers are if they can't predict what individual component of their Rocket will do and must do.
@@goddyfame3424 the difference is that China is using old, proven technology - whereas with Starship, SpaceX is attempting multiple things that have never been done before. When you're in "skunk works" mode, hands-on testing and rapid design iteration are the fastest, most efficient way to identify the unknown unknowns, and make progress.
@@Spherical_Cow Starship is using old technology as well. There is no SpaceX space mission that employed any technology that isn't Rocket Tech. It isn't using Electromagnectic propultion, Nuclear Propulsion, Teleportation, etc. Reusing boosters is fancy and perhaps confused NASA to mistake fancy for competence. Now we sit and wait for Emperor Musk to provide Starship. The Soviet once had a super Rocket that blew up and they abandoned it. How much has Musk wasted on ancient technology?
@@goddyfame3424 methalox rockets are new; full-flow staged combustion engines are new; Boosters with up to 35 engines as well as second stages with up to 9 engines are new; Booster landings on the chopsticks are new; second stage ullage thrusters for RCS are new; second stage bellyflop reentry and descent are new; second stage flip to land on chopsticks is new.
Aside from all of that, this is the largest rocket to ever fly, with 3× the thrust of the Saturn V by the time it gets to the Block 3 design. And the first rocket ever to target full and high-volume reuse by design.
Other than all of that, and the ability to launch 200 tons to LEO per flight with Block 3 hardware, at a cost per launch that's significantly less than Falcon 9... And aside from orbital propellant depots...
Other than all of that, it's the same old tech 🙄🙄🙄
@@Spherical_Cow I don't think you know what your talk about, neither space science.
Dang looks like you got your hair done at some point since I’ve seen a video. Looks good. As far as the topic at hand goes, I strongly agree that this very much signals they’re ahead.
The Chinese have vastly more STEM graduates than the United States. This might just have a little something to do with all the technological progress they are making....
Maybe, just maybe it partially comes down to how hard US children work in school, college and university compared to children in China especially on STEM subjects. In the West the STEM level has been dropping since forever and the teachers keep saying how wonderfully the children are progressing.
But I agree that US children are probably more knowledgeable on subjects like: Wokeness, Inclusivity, Presentation skills, and other skills that focus on how things look and feel rather than how things work. Some US children might even know how to read a book without pictures.
You might think that the US is ahead with A.I. The truth is that the A.I. engineers in the US are dominantly Asian students who prefer the bigger US computers and salaries for the moment. Once the computers in China are up to par with those in the US they will all leave and take the knowledge with them.
The space race may be fun, but the A.I. race is going to be much more important economically.
Lol
Don’t forget that those children are Americans. Not because their eyes look different they are not Americans 100%.
Great summary!!!!
The West does not really care enough about doing their moon base, so I'm just happy someone will. Also, pretty impressive at going at it alone, even if it is with at least partially stolen technology.
And we have no evidence for that 'stolen' bit. I think they really know what they are doing. Mere thieves could not understand stolen stuff. I guess many are blind to China's other achievements: medical breakthroughs, impressive EVs, high-speed trains, decent healthcare, decent education system. They have come from nearly nothing to this. It is sour-grapes on Americans' part, entitled Americans, told everyday how holy, god-fearing, might-is-right will prevail. Mostly fascism by another name.

@@fractalelf7760 if you return what your great grandfather stole, than maybe, however if you decide to kept and take advantage of the theft, well then, you are equally responsible since you haven't undone the crime.
@@lagrangewei You act like everyone who is White or whatever benefited from some criminal action therefore everyone similar is tainted. Not so. No one bears a responsibility for someone else’s actions and your vision of holding “stolen goods” is a bit ridiculous now. You are falling into the trap of group identity grievances. You go down that path of past transgressions every group has a problem, from African tribes to past Asian warlords, and let’s not even touch on Native American tribes who constantly warred and raped, stole and killed from each other. Are you willing to apply your same standard universally or only in cases where it’s selectively applied? Which is it? So, give me an example of”theft”, tell me how we redress it, then be honest with yourself, is this fair to people now and realistic? Or are you just justifying a personal bias using history as an excuse. The core problem is this: you cannot prove in any fashion unless it’s direct possession with a clearly defined legality someone has stolen goods. Are you going to claim every European immigrant from say 1910 is somehow responsible and “in possession” of stolen goods because some previous Europeans “stole” land (which is often an exaggeration of circumstance)? You have no way of directly assigning blame except to literally judge people by their skin color. That my friend, is outright bigotry. Every group on the planet down to the smallest tribe has some degree of shady behavior against someone else. This is called “history”. I also had to laugh at your “maybe” comment… you have deep-rooted issues in your head my friend. So interestingly, I have some Native American ancestry but would be considered “White”? How do you assign “theft” then and redress?

Interesting.
China's "solution" is just an Apollo type architecture. It will be capable of a boots and flags mission, but it will be totally inadequate for supplying a manned surface station.
And BTW Starship just landed the booster and the Starship. They are making rapid progress. We don't need to make the "Apollo mistake" of resorting to a small, quick and dirty system to land soonest, like we did in 1969. We need to do what we used to NOT do --- build a system for the long haul. Build the infrastructure to actually support a lunar base.
Your presentation of the Chinese Program looks more like a 1960s style propaganda enterprise to "beat the Americans" than a more rubust program, like Starship HLS or the reusable landers of other vendors.
Apollo type architecture was the quickest way to send hardware on a one-way mission to the lunar surface. In contrast, programs like Starship, HLS, or reusable landers aim to send astronauts to lunar surface and back. These reusable systems have a payload penalty, meaning they can't leave as much hardware on the lunar surface, hence less infrastructure can be left on the lunar surface for permanent settlement.
"stiling technology" a group of words difficult to understand, every time something new pop up out there somewhere it's qualified with those words.
I love the Angry Astronaut (he's got the smarts) but it's so distressing to hear him jump on the propaganda train, again and again and again.
Most of the current ideological lines are pure projection :
"China is an evil empire based on a military mindset" --> Who's been involved in sending weapons and troops all over the world, calling this "defense"?
"Russia is aiming to invade Europe" --> Who's been toppling democracies left and right since the end of WW2? Who surrounded China with military base after military base? Who claimed Russia would collapse after the sanctions and the US would walk in and divide the country into several smaller states?
"China is doing a genocide on the Uyghurs in Xinjiang" --> Thank God the US is not sending missiles to bomb Gaza every Wednesday!
When officials are scared China lands on the moon (and claim the land) they are actually saying "if it was us, we'd grab the land and not share it with China"
We really need to change our mindset. If we don't, the way it's going it's highly likely we're going to nuke the planet.
Amazing comment
The only thing I disagree with is what is in the brackets. A truly smart person will not easily believe the media's obviously illogical false propaganda about China and Russia.

The latest China missions are impressive. However, we need to define what the 'Space Race' is. What is the requirement for winning? Is there a time limit? Who is racing against whom? What if a totally private effort established their own colony outside of any 'nation state'? I agree that there is no such thing as a 'private entity' in China, but neither is there such a thing anywhere else. SpaceX has to get 'permission' to launch rockets from a puffed up arbitrary hierarchy.

If there's any real-world lesson to learn from sci-fi stories, it's that capitalism in space is probably a bad idea.
Take Star Trek for example. The crew had no monetary stimuli at all.
In the real world, the concept of money is the first thing to be jettisoned, stuff gets done because it has to be done. Redundant computer systems need redundant mechanical systems, in the same way monetary systems will have an auxiliary system in space which is pure survival.

I wouldn't be praising Dream Chaser right now. Wait till it flies successfully. I've been wondering if it might have been better to keep the Shuttle flying unmanned rather than build the Delta 4. What did Delta 4 buy us? An expensive, low performance Lox/Hydrogen, non-man rated rocket.
Neither Starliner nor Dragon are rated for missions past LEO, and if they were they would cost a lot more too. Orion capsule has a lot of redundancies built in that the other capsules don't have.
The ! MEGAWATT Nuclear Power Station has only one purpose and that's supporting heavy industry and defensive railgun or maglev technology

If I remember well, the US was using Russian rockets to get the ISS for the longest time. Which technology exactly did China stole from the US rockets? Russia helped China build their rockets in the earlier stage.
In fact, it is Ukraine, not Russia, that has helped China's rockets the most. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the best scientists went to the West, and about 1,000 Ukrainian scientists chose to go to China.
Great video. We definitely need a wake up call.
Hopefully that 1MW reactor won’t be used for a mass driver.
That's 1341 hp, I think we'll be fine. Can't launch anything big enough to cause us problems on Earth with 1300 hp.
The USA has like 3500 nukes, 400 ICBMs ready to launch at a moment's notice. Boeing makes a bunker buster that can literally get you under 180ft of soil. There's talks of a troop version of starship so the DOD can bring democracy within 1 hour in any place in the world. The US has the entire planet in a chokehold of military might. Call me cynical but I'm not really worried about some hypothetical chinese weapon that doesn't even exist yet.
People think that an up-and-coming China wants a war. A war will destroy its infra-structure, and its economy, and hurt it badly. China will be exporting millions of electric cars worldwide (OK maybe not tho the US so much), but most Americans are clueless about how advanced Chinese tech is. China will not want to lose any of that.
Besides, China is an old country with a vast history. Its people are resilient and hard-working. By contrast the US has little history, and only a fraction of that has any merit.
