I think it's excellent that there is at least one big SpaceX RUclipsr that's not a guy. I watch mostly the guys but Ellie delivers quality content and maybe she makes it easier for girls to get into it.

Ellie is OK but she is very lightweight and superficial in her knowledge compared to others. More of a fan-girl than a journalist and definitely not a scientist that other channels can boast. None the less, she is far more approachable and tamer.
Genuinely a mission for the History books. Congratulations to them all.
Truly, I hope more people see this video. I don’t want them to miss the launch! This is truly pushing the bounds of mankind!

One question, does Kidd have any lasting effects from the medical procedures? That would be a terrifying prospect from a pilot's perspective, what if it costs me flight status? I can't emphasize enough how in awe of him I am for being willing to put himself on the line like that.

Ellie, I'm one of your more recent subscribers but I just have to say that your interview style, combined with great questions, really does bring out the most from your guests. I think this is resonating loud and clear with your viewers as the signal to noise ration in your videos is _really_ high. My own hope is that you keep this style of video, and it remains your secret sauce in the exploding "space content" race. You're by far the best interviewer of anyone producing content in this field. You should interview Tim Ellis next. Ask him if he would look into building space station in orbit with his 3d printer. I'm trying to get the message out and cut 5 years of the origination of the motivation. Yes, I get he wants to finish his Tarren R. But 5 Years early is 5 years early.
Would be so cool if in 10 years they have Starships that have nosecones that pop off with people onboard and the rest gets a new nose and takes people back from Mars if such a thing makes things easier. Might be interesting to have layers of water able to move from inside a ship to the outer layers to protect the people inside from debris and maybe dampen particle pass through.. Might not be enough for flares unless other layers are fortified. Liquid Dragon Scales ^_^

2:16 the Polaris Dawn proposed apogee is 756 nmil (1,400 kilometers). Not 500 kilometers. The highest orbit previously was Gemini II at 739 nmil (1,368 kilometers). Needless to say, Apollo went much higher, but did not orbit as they went to the moon.

Great interview thank you. My only comment for a possible improvement is to stick to one side for the full interview. Meaning, since your main camera is showing your left-hand side of your face (or slightly from the left), you should stick to camera angles on that side. Switching to other side even for a moment is confusing
Great interview Ellie, best yet. Jared should be our first ambassador to space. He is as knowledgeable and more articulate than most traditional NASA astronauts. I would like to see Elon greatly expand the Polaris missions. Do things like learning how to build/weld/manufacture in space, using robots to construct. We are in bad need of a super sized space station that rotates & I think between Starship and what we learn from Polaris missions we could probably do it...

Very interesting topic... could be a whole channel on its own... starting about 29 minutes in, talking about space adaptation syndrome and then onto everything physciological and psychological that could be unique on orbit and as yet are an entirely "undiscovered country".
Worth mentioning that Hubble has 2 functioning gyros, NASA made the decision to go to one to spare the other.
I do agree with saving Hubble though. Boost it up at least until we can bring it back. It belongs in a museum.
Can't wait for this launch , Spacex employee going up ,that's crazy.but will be incredible mission.

Damn! This was a great interview! So many great questions! I never knew about astronauts getting Space Adaptation Syndrome (SAS). I think we should just call it Space Sickness.
We've got, motion sickness (people getting sick in cars), air sickness (people getting sick in planes), sea sickness (people getting sick on boats). We should just call it space sickness (people getting sick in space).
No one, NASA, has ever talked about this kind of thing! These are mundane everyday things that should be talked about so that everyday people could learn more about how space affects stuff about human health and the like.
Look at what I learned in that last little bit in the interview! Just as there are medicines to help people with motion sickness, sea sickness, air sickness, they have medicines that help astronauts with space sickness! They have to "pre-breath" and do a bunch of other crap BEFORE getting into their space suits? I thought the most complicated thing about the space suits was that they needed a couple of people to help them put on the suit. I didn't know they had to spend tons of time just to get ready to get into the darned things!
Look at all of the health issues he was talking about, that astronauts have because they're in space! He was talking about pressure changes that cause neurological AND COGNITIVE issues, and issues with eyesight! If more doctors and scientists around the world knew about these kinds of issues, there would be more doctors and more scientists working on studying these problems - not only the NASA doctors and scientists.
This reminds me of an interview that was done, where I found out that astronauts were constantly getting hurt up in the space station, because they kept crashing into things, and into each other (basically, they're running down the halls and bumping into things and into each other) and getting bumps, bruises, cuts, and lots of hand injuries! They have to do first aid and get minor stitches in space, and it turns out that zero gravity has an effect on how people bleed!
NASA doesn't talk about this kind of thing, and they should! It would get more people involved in looking for ways to improve safety in space, and improve medical treatment for these kinds of injuries in space - not just the few NASA doctors and engineers.

I’d love to another Polaris Dawn mission before Starship. A crew rated Starship is years away.
A close look at the new suits and the challenges would be interesting. Is there an articulate engineer you could pin down?

When I first heard about Polaris Dawn, I made a snap judgement about Isaacman.
There goes another bored billionaire.
Now I know that was very wrong. Jared has bridged the gap between amateur wanna-be with a checkbook to a pro. He has studied the hell out of astronautics, qualified himself, and made the rational decision to join his efforts with SpaceX's. He's an ally, not a distraction and not a mere funding source to be exploited.
I'd love to see Polaris Dawn tackle Hubble.

Given all the work on Optimus and of course Iron Man 😃 I wonder if SpaceX engineers are considering assisting suit mobility through powered mechanical means. Motorized robotic joints, an “exoskeleton”, etc. Also if they are considering the utility of Optimus for work on the Moon. Roughly the same upmass as a human, with human-like capabilities for surface work (at least as a force multiplier), but with no life support requirements, need for airlock cycles, etc. I’d love to see these questions passed on!

Those numbers are crazy, SpaceX has already had 13 crewed missions. Boeing has done 1. Maybe, if they get back alive. If they gotta sent up a rescue Dragon, does that count as a 0.5 on the totals? 🤔
