    The BMW M850i Gran Coupe is the mid-tier model in the 8-series lineup, offering over 500hp from a 4.4L twin turbo V8, 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, and an immense amount of luxury and technology. I spent a week with this 2020 model car, equipped all the way up to $123,000, featuring some nice options like the driver assistance technology, Bowers and Wilkins sound system and exterior carbon fiber pack. Watch this POV drive where I show you the exterior, interior, driver assistance technology, some nice exhaust clips under acceleration and my general notes on what it's like to drive the 2020 BMW M850i Gran Coupe with xDrive! This has been an awesome video because I felt like I got a good sense of what it'd be like to drive the car - POV FTW!
    I agree on the M badge thing, too. I drove an M235i while I was shopping for my latest car and was sort of underwhelmed. I think it was fun, but not really sporty. That may seem like a controversial opinion based on what journalists have said about the M235i, but let's just say that, if nothing else, it didn't feel like an M car. It was very smooth out on the highway and pretty quiet for something its size, so I will say BMW knows how to do a good cruiser.

    Nice video, but I noticed that you had the ambient lighting set to “dimmed at night” That kinda defeats the purpose when filming, because it shuts off most of the upper lighting on the doors, and center console lighting.

    • @EddieX
      @EddieX  4 года назад

      What part of the video do you see that? Pretty sure I had everything fully on when it was the night time driving.

    • @ajlee6933
      @ajlee6933 4 года назад

      EddieX, @13:55 when you begin to show the ambient lighting, the top strips on the door, and the top strips on the center console are dimmed. This only happens when it’s set to “dimmed at night.” Here’s an example of switching between dimmed at night on and off. Fast forward to 9:50. ruclips.net/video/yLeze493hQ4/видео.html

      EddieX Very true. It just makes me angry when these ‘so called’ luxury car brands charges ridiculous amount for their products but then compromise in places they aren’t supposed to. I don’t understand, it’s like if you’re gonna tag yourself as a “luxury brand” then just go all in especially when you charge a premium for it.

    All the cars in this class (AMG 63 and the RS 7) are grand touring cars. I tested the RS 7 and it felt just as heavy as the 8 series.
    And comparing the second tier car (M850i) to any 63 or RS doesn't really make any sense. It is not apples to apples.
    You distinguish the "real" M cars by the use of a single number. Everyone who understands cars understands that there are mid tier cars that have added pseudo performance parts (53 and S).
    Anyone who buys this car, unless they are super rich, knows which trim level they are getting.
    I just don't understand your position. It seems like that you are badge chasing as opposed to judging the car and it's tier level on its own merits.
    And for the record-the RS 7 is NOT a sports car. It's a performance car. No car can weigh over 3,000 lbs and be called a sports car.
    FYI the 2021 RS 7 weighs 4,938 lbs per Car and Driver. The M8 is 4,165 per Wikipedia.

      The m850i gc is 4768 lbs.. At the current loaded price of 108 its a steal if you want more of a GT over sports car. And btw the 911 is over 3000 lbs., not a sports car?

    • @AchOwed
      @AchOwed 3 года назад

      @@Keyosu
      The 911 is a sports car for sure.
      I should have said more than 3,500 pounds (I know the Turbo weighs a little more than that).
      I was thinking of the MX-5 and cars like that manual, peppy, high-revving engine, minimal creature comforts to keep weight down.
      In edit- and the GC is still lighter than the RS 7.
