It is Friday 28th June at 10am (time of posting this) and I have just noticed two B5000SS are left on-line. I think I said (guessed) that they will have all gone by end of today. Being only 2 left I think they will go today 🤓
@@masterwatch Very cool mate. I'll be honest there were other watches higher on my list (isn't there always) but then I remembered how much enjoyment I get out of the squares. It also struck a chord with me when you said about the design from the 1980s still with us.
@@Sup3rSaiy3n I know I keep thinking the Square is 40 years old and C-Tron is 50. The 80s was cool (I was a teenager myself) but I do think the Square has legs to go much further yet. I also have an idea about the Square that I will make a video about in fact for me this is so cool... an MR-G King MRG-56B-1JR... more to come.
Only one of those B5000s made it to Norway through official channels, and that one lands at my house on Monday. I’m so excited, and having said that I really, really enjoyed your video 👍
@@masterwatch I also have the older silver square like you. One different I noticed that I don’t believe you mentioned is the displays having a different tonal colour way. The 50th seems slightly darker compared to the silver model, more retro in its style.
@@karldomingo8652 ah yes you are correct and I may have mentioned in the Casiotron video but there does seem to be a slight gold tone on the display but that might be reflection from the gold detail.
I do think the Captain America Square is really that good. It flys under the radar with its color way but special to the owner. The details are very cool and appreciated, especially the hidden pattern under the clasp. It’s really a joy to wear. 🇺🇸
I've had the GMWB5000SS for a few weeks now and am absolutely in love with it. The blue and gold just pop and go so well together. Now I'm trying to decide if I should grab the TRN50SS as well 🤔 thanks for the video and comparison!
If you like the B5000SS and you are thinking TRN50SS I would think you would like it but be sure you like the display size as it is a little smaller than the Square.
@@masterwatch looks like your UK store is out of stock now. Luckily I got mine from Japan as it doesn't look like we're getting much at all here in Australia.
@@mwboost One cool thing about Australia is that you can get Japan models shipped to Australia that I think is cool. For some reason I always like the Japan models and packaging.
I was looking at this in NZ as a shop had a couple available, and wondered if you had one.. sure enough.. haha. I ordered 2 of them. one for me, one to get the links i needed, and my wife has decided she will take the other one. appreciate the detailed quality videos of the watches. very much helps with decisions :D
when you said you got 2 I immediately thought you got one to rock and one to stock... but then when you explained and that your wife wears the other one and I imagine uses a smaller bracelet I thought how cool is that !!
Thank you so much for sharing. It’s a lovely colour way. One question ! Out of all the G squares you have if you had to recommend 1 (except for the Porter) which one would you recommend?? If you had to have one which one would you keep??
That is a very good question and one I use myself as an acid test.. the one if I had to choose only one would be the MRG-B5000D the silver thin red line Square. Saying that I would have preferred it is steel, perhaps hardened steel as I prefer the weight but still it is very nice.
Seriously considering pulling the trigger on this when it becomes available in my area but do you think it’s worth the premium over the regular? I just think that they could added a bit more gold maybe on the middle of the bracelet or perhaps on the dots.
I thought the same but now I have it in the hand there is something special about it and I believe the bezel is in 2 parts as the blue bezel part is a separate component. Just my opinion but if you're on the fence I would definitely fall over and pull the trigger.. but please do remember that is only my opinion.. Also I think there is a chance it will sell out in a day or two.
Great video as always, I love the detail you provide, I received mine today and very pleased with it, I’d say it’s my new favourite, I loved the look of the gold and blue Casiotron but I found it too small on the wrist compared to the gshocks I’m used to wearing so I returned it as couldn’t justify having both, I do love your collection, I think Casio will bring out more different coloured square frames now as they’ve perfected it, what colourway would you want next?
I did think the same but I was going to keep the Casiotron but then I thought the GMW Square would look too good also so I have both. I think they are good. For some reason I am expecting a grey or brown tone next and also another treatment to the steel or perhaps another Carbon GCW-B5000 and hopefully with a positive display.. to be honest that is what I am waiting for.
Today I received both the 50th square and tron. Both are very nice indeed. I think the 50th tron may be more interesting than the tron OG. Either way, epic release!
These are really deceptive on video. Went and saw a casiotron yesterday and the strap is for a much smaller wrist and overall it feels more like the f91 in size. On video i thought they were a similar watch size
when I initially saw the C-Tron I did think it was smaller than I anticipated and I think I remarked on another video but after a short while I must have got used to the size and decided that I liked it but you are right it is smaller than a Square.
In my 40 some years of experience I've found that after several decades the circuitry of a quartz watch dies and can't be repaired and it is too expensive and time consuming to repair, movement. Replacements are not available!
Yes the older circuit boards I do understand do perish. I also hear that the new circuit boards are improved and will last longer but the materials in the display and batteries that are subject to aging is an issue but will last longer but again how much longer is the question really.
Well to be honest, my 35 EUR JDM waveceptor came in almost the same box (if not a better box)....I don't think a box is the measure of anything. It's a nice colourway, but....would it withstand a meeting with a door frame? That's a big question...I'm coming from the ''absolute toughness'' world, so I'm really not sure. A watches looks nice , but that's not the point of a G-shock. A ''limited edition'' means nothing, except from the painful price tag....(I know that since I paid that painful price more than couple of times, for a Casios that are a lot rarer than those Casios). Basically the OG C-tron was released like a woman's watch since it was tiny, and it was a total flop....(today's C-tron has nothing to do with thje OG C-tron) and the OG Square DW5000C has been released like a durable plastic toy, a steel has nowhere to be seen, and it was also a huge flop....(until Casio didn't made that famous hockey puck ad...maybe that's a reason why I got 2 of those, 2 of DW5200C from 1983., which basically saved the G-shock line) That metal square can ''celebrate'' the OG, but it can't represent it, since the Original has been a basic plastic watch (indestructible plastic watch with its own fails), and the metal one is very far from basic watch. To be honest, I like my DW-5040PG Square more than anything that I see in this video, that represents a real Square....it's basic, it's plastic,it's beautiful, and it's heavily overpriced. Like

They did it a lot, digital Marlin is one more example....I was afraid a couple of weeks ago to give my Marlin to the watchmaker to replace the battery....after so many years, will he manage to unscrew it, or will the watch just fall apart? Looks like it'll be a fingerprint and scratch magnet. Shiny is pretty, but matte would have been more practical.
