For 25, this is a decent collection. It's a bit "beater heavy". Have you considered adding something refined in the mid price range? Perhaps a Hamilton Murph, Tissot Gentleman, or Longines Conquest? Its a bit much to expect a 25 year old to start thinking about Grand Seiko, Rolex, or Omega, but I think your collection would benefit from a versatile "every day" type of watch that can be used for dressier occasions. As a side note, I noticed you didnt have any chronographs. If you're looking for a gorgeous very affordable chrono, I highly recommend Seiko 6t63-00b0
Thanks for watching, underwaterlevelz! I've been window-shopping Casio Oceanus models on Amazon pretty hard these last couple of months and I'm trying to have some trigger discipline on ordering any more $30-$50 beaters, lol. Right now my best bet would be that a Tissot Gentleman is in my future. A good quality dress watch is just a glaring hole in my lineup at the moment, and the Gentleman is right up my alley style-wise. I haven't thought much about chronographs, but I'll definitely take a look at that Seiko!
Excellent choice, I recently picked up the Tissot Gentleman powermatic 80 siclium (blue sunburst dial) and it is a perfect "everyday watch", can even be worn for dressy occasions. I admit its a bit pricey, but it is very nice. Recommend you try one on before you pull the trigger, some find the 40mm dial to be just a bit much.
Very nice collection, kudos to you and glad to see you enjoying the hobby. It's always nice seeing new people get introduced to it. For my suggestion for the last spot (for now, cuz it sure won't be the last total) is to get yourself a Casio calculator watch and/or Data Bank. My recommendation is the DBC-32 as it has all the features of the regular calculator watches, but with additional ones too. The standard ones also don't have a backlight which is a huge drawback in my eyes, while the DBC-32 not only has an excellent backlight but one you can activate by flicking your wrist too. You said you're a man of science and tech so I believe some geek chic like this will compliment your style perfectly. Beyond that, consider treating yourself to a mechanical watch too. You don't need to spend a lot to get a good one. Seiko or Orient are probably your best choices there. Cheers and happy collecting!
Brother! Real quick! I’m 20, and I’ve got a shit ton of Casio’s. I’m a diehard Casio guy. That last watch is no diver. It’s the MTP-VD01. Water resistant up to 50ish meters. Get a Duro!
Great collection, love casio. Just changing the band/strap on a watch makes a huge difference to the look and feel of the watch. A good leather strap on the watch at 7:50 mark would make it feel like a more premium watch.
Hey, great collection there! I'm also just starting this hobby out at a smiilar age as you are. Started off with 2 casios that I've owned for 5 years, and now i'm at my 5th watch right now. You've done the most sensible thing in terms of long term affordability in maintenance and upkeep, by keeping most of your collection quartz watches. Nothing wrong with affordable options, keep on going! Oh and just a suggestion since you've mentioned how the invicta quartz diver's bracelet isn't very comfy - you can try CTS FKM rubber straps, or just rubber straps in general to pair with the dive watch. Also I realised straps really do breathe new life to a watch. I've had my 5 year old casio MTP-V005's worn out steel bracelet swapped out with a saffiano leather strap from Nomad watch works - it just looks and feels refreshing again.
Here's some friendly comments from someone collecting for 30 years: a Smart Watch is not a "watch". Sure it tells the time, but to me, a watch is a keeper of memories, so it has to by definition last a lifetime. The reason we love these redundant things is because it is the only thing we carry other than some jewelry (which is not common among men) that can be carried everywhere. Therefore it can be a memento for all of your important life events. Imagine you went on an unforgettable family vacation and you were wearing a Smart Watch that becomes obsolete after 3 years - you have no keep-sake to remember the trip; contrast that with if you wore a real watch - now you can remember all those happy times whenever you look at it, and also remind your family members when they see you wear it.
Hi Phidz, thanks for watching and commenting! Not disagreeing with you about smart watches in general, but I will say that I'll always have the memory of walking 35000+ steps in one day to celebrate a loved one back in May of 2022. In a matter of years, my Fitbit will be a dead paperweight with zero appeal, but it'll still be a memento!
Cool video and collection! Gives me inspiration to make a vid like that myself. I have been into vintage Seikos for a long time so a small collection accumulated without me even noticing!
Great video and thank you for the details and covered expressed information about the history about each watch.. Now that you have completed your degree and should be doing better as you begin your career with a good paying job you may consider donating your watches to someone people that do not have a watch.. Consider giving these watches and then you can buy better more comfortable watches of higher quality..
9:43 - that's not a NATO style, that's a Zulu. And you were right, the Citizen is my favourite of the bunch! The Timex is just a fun watch. I really like the colours. if you can't stand the ticking, you can switch it for a chronograph version. I have one and it's quiet. The loudest watch in my household is a plastic Swatch. You've got a nice base, there's clearly a journey of focusing it in the future. Though, I can see the digital Casios and the Citizen will stay. :D
I feel like every man should have at least 1 luxury watch. Slowly save for a few years and find something that speaks to you on the higher end. I recommend Breitling because they have amazing watches that will work for daily wear and still look right for a anniversary date with the wife. Prices are pretty reasonable for the quality of their watches and I wear mine daily because it’s just takes everything I throw at it and still looks amazing. Rolex is amazing also but with the amount of fakes and the quality of the fakes I would only buy one from and authorized dealer. And that whole process is…different…to say the least. But you will “eventually” get an amazing piece. You definitely have a utilitarian collection and some nicer pieces would fit right in. Grand Seiko would be another great luxury option. Their spring drive movement is amazing
I see a young Watchitis patient, positively chuffed with his versatile precious collection of affordable tiemepieces! One of happy cases where one can enjoy the hobby without the snobbery of the luxe... One advice: i'd rather disconnect the existence of the storage container and the aspiration for future aquisitions: you don't have to fill the box, because the limit of two slots will increase the percieved importance of each next choice, preventing you from freely chosing the watch you'd otherwise enjoy. At this point you've got too many watches already, so feel free to pick watches that express specific moods, rather than saying there are only so many watches you can buy in future. Gotta love your cruise alltogether, your take is truly authentic and grounded.
Appreciate the feedback and suggestions, Texonite! Although deep down, I know there's a non-zero chance I'll blow through the last two slots and either buy another watch box or move some of the beaters out, for now, the artificial limit is stopping me from accumulating more beaters, lol. Even the ones I don't wear either have memories attached or were a learning experience, so I doubt I'll get rid of any of these. But like most of my hobbies, I've started cheap, targeted value, and learned a bit before I go full-on quality over quantity. I'll get there in time, and I appreciate the recommendation on the Nite MX10 - I hadn't heard of them before and that's a really clean-looking watch even just in pictures. I'm a big fan of tritium night sights and I've heard good things about colleages' Luminox watches with tritium.
Hell yeah dude nice collection. I find it funny you critique your Casio mtp as being loud - I have a timex that reminds me of but I sort of like the loud aspect to it.
I’ll trade you a sub for a bit of advice. I think at this point in your collection you should consider thinning the herd. You have too many watches you admittedly don’t care for or wear. From the top row I would keep the Casio digitals and your Dad’s gift watch. From the bottom row I’d keep the field watches and lose the MTP and diver which at 49 mm is crazy big. Now I would replace those 5 watches with 2. Considering you don’t love metal bracelets, do rugged stuff but also dress it up sometimes I point you first at a Seiko Diver- Possibly a Turtle or Samurai. Both a wearable 42mm, and both come on comfy rubber. As a bonus check out the Seiko 5 GMT which has that diver-esque look. For something dressier and classy look at the Tissot Gentleman quartz on leather strap. Or maybe a Citizen Oceanus. Both are excellent. Finally, yes get the G-Shock Casioak.
Thanks for the view, sub, and advice, fawkesandhound! I've been eyeing up the Casio Oceanus line for a while now - I'm a big fan of several of the "Japan import" Oceanus models on Amazon in the ~$400 ballpark. Your Tissot Gentleman recommendation also reminded me that my biggest gap right now is probably a good-quality dress watch ... and the Gentleman looks right up my alley. Long term, I will probably set aside the two-tone Invicta as a memento and replace the silver-tone Invicta with a better diver. I did swap a red and black NATO strap onto the Citizen Weekender and moved its olive strap onto the silver-tone Invicta for now, and it made a big improvement on both.
Ok I’m not harping on you coz you’re only 25 years old. But I got a good 3 years on you and I can tell you that you probably want some nicer mechanical watches. I personally, have a few affordable mechanical watches from Hamilton and Ball that you might like to consider. On the upper end, I have a JLC and an AP but those might be out of your budget for now but I’m sure not for too long 😉
Hi Sjoerd. My hope was that adding my age and walking through the collection in chronological order would add some context to my values, why my collection is what it is, and why I bought in the order I did. Hopefully, this also sparked some good memories in folks thinking back to how their collections started. Thanks for watching and commenting, cheers!
I like how you with all the seriousness call the results of your impulse-driven behavior a "watch collection". Be honest with yourself - it is not a watch collection. With $300 in a wallet you can assemble this "collection" by wandering around your slowly dying local mall in less than an hour. IMHO instead of accumulating cheap junk you'd better save money on a single Swiss or Japanese timepiece from $500-$1500 price bracket with cool history like space or geophysical explorations.
Wow, that's a fantastic collection! For the final spot, you might want to consider adding either the Seiko Presage Cocktail Time or the Timex Marlin with the Tonneau dial (TW2W58800UJ). Both would make a great addition.
Hi Suhas, thanks! That Seiko Presage Cocktail Time looks fantastic.. there's a good chance I'll be making a tough decision between that and the Tissot Gentleman in the near future.
Nice collection brother! It's refreshing to see a watch collection that a lot can relate to
For 25, this is a decent collection. It's a bit "beater heavy". Have you considered adding something refined in the mid price range? Perhaps a Hamilton Murph, Tissot Gentleman, or Longines Conquest? I think youd love the Casio Duro, or a Timex Expedition variant. Nice collection - I really like the Citizen
thats a cool collection man! keep it on fire

Surprised there isnt a single Seiko in this collection yet. The new Samurai SRPL15 is affordable and a stone cold stunner of a watch.

Hamilton field watch for that last spot! Khaki quartz or mechanical. Both excellent watches.

Go for it! It's taken some effort to start figuring this RUclips thing out, but nothing worth having comes easy and learning can be fun.

Great roster! That’s not about the brand, but what’s story behind each piece. And I see how you can wear each piece with confidence.

Don't thank me ;)

Love ur watches :) the timex is so pretty
Thanks, Aaron!
Awesome collection
I see all of them tick, when will you get a mechanical watch? I recommend spending over 300$ to get something well finished with a good movement.
i have the same bluegold invicta with the same scallop beset. it looks good with all black outfit.
Hell yeah dude nice collection. I find it funny you critique your Casio mtp as being loud - I have a timex that reminds me of but I sort of like the loud aspect to it.
You have good taste. Keep collecting.
The F91W has the same function as the 217H.
fine collection
Very cool!

Look into San Martin, Cronos, Tissot and Orient
