the GCW-B5000 carbon is brilliant and I wish so much there was a positive display version and I suppose there still might be, I hope so. The Cornflakes (recrystallised) will be very collectable in my opinion.

yes they are both IP coated. I did think it would be DLC but that process seems reserved for G-Shock top range pieces.

as I understand it Casio have 4 types of propriety titanium. One of them is probably grade 5 or equivalent and I think this model is at least one that is grade 5 for the main structure. They may have used a harder titanium for the bezel, I would need to look.

I have also ordered the titanium bracelet for this model and will show that.

@@masterwatch I can’t find any information on the case but the website says grade 5 for the buckle and tang holder.

@@petrsvoboda3902 in that case I would assume DLC Titanium grade 5. Apparently the DLC treatment does harden the surface.

I do like the B2000 range and I quite like the standard B2000D.

@ Yes. I tried the one you said you liked on first which is at least USD200 lower than the others selling here. But I felt that was a bit thick on my slim wrist. But I think part of it was because of its light colour. After I bought a used b2000 on rubber, which has the same thickness, and wore for sevearl days (sold now), the thickness issue disappeared. So I may go back to look at the one you liked as it costs only a fraction of the js 1adr and hence less risk for daily use and to bring along on vacation.

I think this piece was sold for about $500K at auction.

when it was released a few people said the same thing and it wasn't what they wanted. For some reason I still liked it and even the colour differential with the case is ok for me but I understand your comment.

good question. I do prefer positive displays but I am also happy to consider negative displays and I think I have 2 negative displays. I do want the Carbon GCW that is only negative display so I have been hoping there would be a positive release but maybe there will only be the negative pieces. Also I understand that the GMW, GCW and MRG squares do have a better quality display with higher contrast so why the negative displays are clear.

Take a look at one in your hand, the Cornflakes are unusual.

@ Tried them on bro but unfortunately it wasn't my cup of tea🤷🏻‍♂️ However I got me a DW5040 instead. OH and speaking of selling watches, DON'T sell any of them, it's the most disgusting nerve-racking experience especially on ebay, they just wanna pay peanuts for your precious watches nowadays. This is why I learned a valuable lesson to buy something that I'm sure will stay with me for the rest of my life or until maybe stolen from me🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes Casio don't make clear how many watches are made.

I have thought that there is a collecting theme going on without me knowing myself as I really do just buy what I like and hope it is interesting for other people. My bank account is in rehab as I have been looking at more MR-Gs... it is so scary what MR-G can do to your bank account. Thank you again.

The orange has that impact also they are very nice watches and great value and build quality. I think these are a nice watch and I can see the appeal they have especially if you're on a budget and want value.

That is what I think about them. I can say the build quality and popularity is very good.

@@masterwatchI probably will, I notice some local dealers here still have them albeit in low stock I guess. I’m really into all these full metal non G-Shock watches Casio has been releasing lately. Already have the A1000 and A1100, both look good and feel great on the wrist. This TRN50 series is on another level as reflected in its pricing.

@@Miserereion I do agree with you the Casio 1970/80s metal cased watches are cool. For me though I always look for solar and multi-band (if possible) but I do like the design aesthetic.

Ah.. thank you.. I can imagine it looks a bit too German for people or too utilitarian but I am a Chronograph person and the extra GMT I do like.

@@masterwatch I like it! What drew you to this brand? You mentioned the movement a few times. Was that the source of the interest or do you have a relationship with the brand?

@@johnrb9397 The movement Valjoux 7754 part of the 7750 family is a 50 year old design of movement as I understand it and today owned and made by ETA. ETA movements have been in every watch (apart from Rolex) but I might be wrong but from a view of the watch industry the ETA movement is the watch industry. It is like saying NH35 in the context of Micro brands. The high end ETA movements are probably more reliable and easier to fix than any other in-house movement.. Saying that in-house movements today are very good and I think Tudor's are maybe the best now but ETA probably still holds the title of the most used and respected mechanical movement today.

@@johnrb9397 PS.. forgot to say.. I find these smaller German brands like Archimede, Guinand, Sinn offer fabulous value for money and their designs are often very true to their original watches. That combined with my like of Chronographs is a winner. Of course this direction leads you towards IWC and Lange and others that are super quality but they get expensive quickly.

these are G-Shock's premium watches so they are quite expensive $3000 - $7000

Ah thank you.. When I saw TOP grade Valjoux 7754 chronograph GMT movement I was so intrigued myself.

You are correct, it is not too small. I think I have been used to large watches for a while so my initial response noted its size.. Today I do like its size but I still like larger watches also.

I know it looks a thick watch and it probably is.. but I do like it a lot still. I think it is still one of my favourite Chronographs.

The Black one is DLC coated which means it is harder than the silver variant as I understand it. My B5000B and B5000D are probably the exact same materials so I have a comparison. To date I don't see any scratches on either and I do wear them but I suppose I am careful.

I find I am getting more into MR-G just when I thought I was moving away.

If you can only get 1... I am so tempted to say just get the B5000R as the rubber strap is very good and the watch feels so quality in the hand plus it will be the most comfortable. Be careful with strap sizing though. If I get one I will do a video on how to size.

@@masterwatch Yes, I think the B5000R is being a more "wearable" in terms of not so worry of getting dirty, finger prints and scratches. However, with the wider strap and buckle (without the lock) than the others makes me have different feelings whether it still feel like a premium square or just a cheaper version of the mrg

@@garyfung4151 the rubber strap does look it might be 1mm wider and I was worried about that also but when I have had it in the hand the width was no longer an issue. Also I must add the rubber feeling is better in real life and the buckle. If you are basing your decision on wearability and comfort I think the B5000R is going to win as long as the rubber strap is cut correctly and this is the only other issue or negative I can see.
