The tour of Europe was fun. But most of us love the local hunt more. The idea that the adventure and finds are attainable to anyone is so important.
Hi Wendy! So glad you love my local thrift hauls! I have many followers from Europe so I know how exciting it was for so many of them to see me thrifting in their countries and cities ❤️ I’ll continue to thrift as many places as I can and share all my thrifting adventures with all of you 😄 The trip to Europe was hopefully just the beginning of international thrifting and adventures but I’ll always continue to share my thrifting in the PNW ❤️
Laura I don’t know how you go so fast.l stay in a thrift store for hours. But your knowledge is a big help,I’ve been trifling since my children became adults.
Wow, Oregon vintage shops have the best finds anywhere. I rarely find anything half as good as you do. I also realize just how much work being a vintage reseller actually is and that we shouldn't be fooled into thinking it's a walk in the park. Your a great aunt to help Maya get started on her own journey in this business. Women empowering women!
And they're sooo clean & organized. In FLA ours are a hot mess of junk!
@@Anne-pk8gs I was thinking the same thing of the ones here in Southern California. Yuk!!! I hate to even walk into one bc they are dirty and cluttered and smell. I can withstand some smell but most of ours are really bad. Hum...maybe a trip to the Oregon coast is in order 💜💙💚💛🧡
I think your cat would love that 'bird house'!!!
woah new video again? we are being spoiled! i love it!
😘 I’m working really hard to get more out!
i appreciate it so much.
I love port but use it almost as a dessert after dinner. Port sipped along with some grapes, figs and cheese also pairs really well.
Loved seeing the YoYo quilt (24:41) . I have my great grandmas one that's 100 years old. Lots of time and love went into it. Probably during the cold prairie winters here in southern Alberta Canada. They where early pioneer settlers.
My mother was so "chic" the hair combs/pins brought back so many memories. She passed on a year and a half ago. My sister and I will text to see which one of us have viewed your video first. We don't share the content until afterwards. She's headed back to the PNW and we hope to catch you soon girl. Take care from Tee-Tee and Carla😉
What about a kitty nest!!
Thank you for the sense of relaxation that washes over me......thank you for bringing such peace into my life......love your music, your vibe, your style.....I can relate!
I’m drooling over that estate sale. How can one person have so much great stuff!
I KNOW! That estate sale was crazy--just filled with treasures. I wanted to be there so badly.
The owner was a “Laura”
The haircombs! Gasp!!
It’s nice that your niece is following in your footsteps
Literally breath taking estate sale! How I’d love to get ahold of those old used bath towels! Those are so soft when they are worn😍
I found myself saying, “want, want, love, love.” Throughout this whole video. Great job Laura!!
I like port wine. A tiny fancy glass of port as dessert is a treat.
Was that all one home? I mean it makes me feel minimalist! I loved seeing that Roseville pottery.
Not a bird nest to many big holes they would get all the bedding wet ,I think it’s just decorative
wow, the taylor smith boutonniere juice glasses! And there is Also a pretty blue delphite bowl, and the jadeite mixing bowls! Wow!
Yeah! Let's go.....saw sooooo many items at the estate sale I would have brought home. Not sure the basket would be good for wild birds, they need more protection. But I see it with a pretty hanging plant growing from it, or a solar candle glowing from it at twilight. Take care!🙂
Holy Moly that was the most amazing estate sale I have ever seen!!!! 😲😲😲
I liked the table the Royal Copenhagen was sitting on.
Always fun when you take us along!
Oh my word.....that last estate sale....I am DYING over all thr pottery and old victorian pieces....I am dying
Always so grateful when people save their beautiful things for future generations.
The green ridged pitcher by the blue glass one, looked like old
Bauer Pottery.
To my amazement,
there was also a yellow ridged Bauer pitcher near the
end of your video.
I have a yellow one and a navy blue one.
Bauer Pottery
is similar to
Fiesta Pottery,
But Bauer is older,
and more rare.
You missed a couple of real treasures.
I always see so many peices that I just love. I love love estate sales.
Port wine is a dessert wine, it is supposed to be sweet and to have just a bit of it after dinner. I love it!
I have never done anything for the birds like that but, I always have lots of plants on my porch. This summer I got some moss from the forest floor at my aunts house and put the moss in a lot of my plants to cover the dirt. Needless to say the birds loved it. So I would think moss with the dirt still attached would be a great idea and even the moss you find in bags in the craft department. They will move it around to make themselves happier.
Oh and maybe some Natural rope to weave in and out to hold it all in place
One of my Top 10 fave things in life is standing with toes in the sand at the shoreline. Beautiful coast! Loved the hauls from your several stops - yeah I would have been late too! Baskets at the door of an Estate Sale?! That group knows what they're doing! The Barn Sale - so many beautiful things. Thank you for sharing the back story of how you became a reseller. Blue and white - yes, please. Thank you Laura for another great Vlog!
2 videos in one day is amazing! Thanks Laura 💚
My mother had a thing with cherries anything red she would wear red and white she liked red belts red shoes and she would had Cherry pins Cherry earrings I don't know if she ever wore bracelet or not I never paid attention to her ever wearing a bracelet but I love junking with you you're teaching me a whole lot and I'm in my 70s I didn't know I could find things like what you find thank you so much for helping me
My name is Carol and I'm from Evansville Indiana and we have some antique stores around here and I'm two blocks from a Goodwill store I go there a lot just to have something to do
Line the bird house with felt with safe glue and put the hair from your hairbrush in it. They'll let you know if the like it or not!
GREAT video. The eye candy is just too much…*swoon* Thank you!
That hanging nest would be great for an entire family of squirrels!
Wow, what an amazing estate sale!! 😍
That soap stone vase is amazing and what a deal on that price £65 wow
A tawny port always tastes better in the Douro Valley! But I prefer the green wine too. I actually found a bottle of Verde wine at Trader Joe’s that is cheap and great chilled in the summer. It will remind you of your vacation. But I have found nothing similar to a pastel de nata here in the states… time to go back! Very fun new video!
Viñho Verde is lovely. Back when I drank, they sold a lot of Portuguese wine back home in Bermuda, since 1/3 of the population is from Portugal and The Azores.
Laura, I love watching your videos - you always find such awesome stuff! The "hanging nest" as you call it is I believe to hang on a patio or inside your house with a candle inside of it or a lantern of some kind. I don't believe it's a bird nest because it's not woven tightly enough like most bird houses generally are. This would allow too much air in the house especially during the winter and the opening in the front of the basket is too big and would allow predators to be able to get inside and kill the birds. That's just my opinion but I'm sure you can check that out maybe at a pet shop or something like that. Good luck with however you use it - you are always so imaginative with creating and decorating with things that I'm sure you'll find something to do with it!!
Those floral bath towels. I remember them so much. Only the special guest got to use them. 🙄😂😂
O M Goodness, that estate sale was soooo good! If only I could place an order lol!
Port after dinner or served with cheese is AMAZING! Love your finds!🥰🇨🇦
I recently moved to live in Portugal, but have always liked Port wine. Is is intended as a dessert/ post dinner drink, so it’s sweetness is acceptable at that point, I believe! Also, Portuguese wines are now becoming quite well accepted world wide , they have a wide range of terroir and choice and their price point is good - don’t give up on them or only try Vinho Verde 😃
I agree. It’s a bit like sherry. My grandmother used to have a small glass before her evening meal to aid digestion (or so she said)!
SCORE! You found great stuff. Those black mugs with flowers on them are gorgeous. I love Zuni inlay jewelry. I want to move to Oregon so much! The beaches are beautiful, the trees, and all those great stores! I'm working on my manifesting. AHHHH!!!!!
Re: the port wine...try a port Manhattan cocktail. Just substitute port for the whiskey. Yum! Also, maybe weave some primitive rope into the bird's nest basket to close it up a bit more. Love watching your adventures. Thank you!
So glad you got the copper pot, I seen you passing up on all that copper and I’m saying no no . I love copper
My mom used to have those otagiri mugs with irises; from the 70’s. Lovely!
They were so pretty.
I'm sure a squirrel or raccoon would be thrilled to live in that winter bird house!
Yes, saw a cookie jar that I have - from my Grandmother’s kitchen (I’m 75).
I was aching over the pottery scores at goodwill! The estate sale is incredible; nothing specific to tell but it does make me realise why I love vintage. All of us out there collecting because we love beautiful things and it makes us happy to be surrounded by them. I collect vintage because it makes me happy and I sell it because it makes other people happy too. No one but another vintage nerd knows the spiritual fulfilment a 'dumb vase' can give you! I hope my house is like that when I go; a beautiful life, passed on to others invested in beautiful lives too. ❤🙏
Holy Cow I just flew into Portland last night!!! 😳 I'm going!!
Always amazed at the things you find in goodwill and thrift stores. I know you hear this a lot. The brass enameled with black vase was beautiful. When I first started watching your videos, I didn't even know they existed. I went to one of our antique stores and saw one sitting alone on a shelf. It had not been cleaned up but I knew what it was. As it wasn't priced. I left it. The next time I went back it was still there and I ask the price at the register. They had to check with the owner but I got it for $5. I've never found one again so far but I did find a tea pot from India with red enameling and such pretty designs. I wouldn't have found these things except for you turning me on to them. I love them in my home!
At the estate sale there is sooo much to pick and choose at at 50% off already good prices;
a nice problem to have. If you just took home everything at once, then in no time YOU become the hoarder, and you would not want that for your new home. Remembers there is always more stuff it never runs out! Laura, I love the pieces that you choose!!
Wow - that estate sale looks amazing!
The bird cage would be great with little lights and floweral
Wow! Great video! What great finds! Can’t wait for the next one! 👍🥰💜
Your excitement and enthusiasm are contagious. I love how you find unusual items and give them a new use. You are sweet and I really enjoy your channel. My son lives in Portland, can’t wait to visit some of your vintage thrift stores and Goodwills.
looks like an upscale hoaders house. wish I could be there
I doubt the ratten basket will be good in winter for birds. Too many openings for cold & wind to get in. You’d have to line the entire thing with winter proofing of some kind.
I think the basket you bought is a fish trap of some kind. Or perhaps a decorative piece that's supposed to look like a fish trap. There would've been a little door over the opening--fish enter, but they can't exit. It's cute but I don't think it would realistically give a bird much shelter.
Thanks Laura for taking us along in your thrifting adventures. You bought some cool things. At 72 ,me and two of my cousins try to get together when the one comes to Illinois from Florida. We giggle like teens and whether it's allowing one to vent about her deceased hubby, our own ails or just reminiscing old family times, we cherish each other's company. Have fun sweet girl and may you all be in God s light and love . Sweet picking.
I missed seeing Michelle. I remember first meeting her on your old channel The Recycled Life. She's always so lovely. I hope we get to see you, Michelle, & Roger together one day in a video. Seeing you go shopping for antiques & jewelry with Michelle in France, Italy or anywhere in Europe would be so fun. This was a really nice video overall. I still think that pig planter belongs in Little Italy. I also adored that couch at the Estate Sale.
Second comment…sorry…Port is actually more of a Sherry, rather than a wine. It really does have a creamy, sweet bev with a bite. Many people find it too strong and sweet also, so you’re not alone!
Port wines are considered dessert wines. That’s why they’re so sweet.
I love hand statues and carvings too.
The birds will love that!!!
Your right Laura Port is syrupy sweet. To much for me. My fave is Reisling.
I love port its so warming in the english winters .❤
Love your life! The basket is too big for birds. They like a tight crib.
Those white and blue Corning Ware dishes you passed up are very valuable! I saw it online!
Wow! That upcoming estate sale would be awesome to go to!! I tend to gravitate towards the things that stir memories…which is 50s and 60s for me. I grew up in a neighborhood of new houses, and babysat a LOT in my teens, so saw the inside of most of those houses. When I see things from the 60s, it just takes me back to a simpler time.
We love to drink port with brandy in Ireland, especially if you have a cold. Great vlog 👏
I absolutely remember those black coffee cups from the eighties..lol
W😯W!
So Much great stuff!! It's wonderful knowing that so much still exists!💛
You pick up a piece of pottery with a lip and two holes at the edge. You said it was a nice pot to hang with string but just an FYI, it’s a tooth brush holder for you bathroom. I grew up with one.
What a fabulous venue....it's looks like a movie set! So exciting? Nice video. I want...I want.. I want...
You have inspired me to do some decorating. Thanks for the push I needed. Time to pack some things away, and use items that have been stored for awhile.
Digging the music you picked during the antique shop visits
Wow I wish I was there shopping!
The little jug at 11.18 looks like Poole pottery from UK but it’s normally marked? Fab video x
I thought Honiton but your probably right .Think there was a big sticker over the mark .
Thanks for 2 videos. Love getting the notification. Love your eye for detail.
Put Spanish moss at bottom of rattan bird house, good beginnings.
Hi Laura! Port wines are meant for drinking with desserts. Goes great with chocolates, cakes, etc. Would be awful with main entrees.
Laura you are lucky having a big family .I only have my sister son an myself, treasure them lv Ann uk 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
Oh be still, my heart! What a fantastic estate sale!! I saw so many things that brought memories rushing back. The number one thing for me was the Scottish Terrier collection. There were so many wonderful Scottie vintage collectibles! I had two wonderful Scottie dogs in my life who brought so much love & joy to me. I would have gone crazy at that sale. There were many other things that l would have dearly loved to get...what a beautiful assortment from a life, obviously, well lived!!
I love an aged port wine with really good dark chocolate for dessert.
You’re in Oregon!! Me too, live in Salem. The best goodwill here is on Lancaster if you’re ever in the area 😊
Hi. @ 7:00 the Myrtlewood is actually a perfume bottle. The top or stopper had a glass piece that held perfume. I started looking for Myrtlewood after watching one of your videos. I found a similar piece in Tacoma and researched it. Found pictures on Ebay.
Such a fun video! I miss Washington & Oregon in the summer!!!
I saw the vintage towels with flowers and I remember that I used to collect them when I was younger.there was a bright blue vase that I would have to have if I was there.
I love the hooked yarn dog. There was so much of that kind of thing around when I was growing up. I'm much more interested in it now than I was back then.
Oh Laura I love all your videos! They brighten my day. It was so great to see the Roseville pottery pieces at the estate sale. My sister and have been collecting it for years! It is getting harder to find the nice pieces like those at this estate sale. Someone found some amazing treasures! Happy thrifting, and antiquing! We do it all over Ontario, Canada!
Really enjoying the frequent uploads! There was so much treasure at that estate sale. I was surprised not to see a penguin ice bucket. 😂
Great video. Thanks Laura. I always save your videos like my dessert!
The estate sale looks awesome! Presentation looks nice! You do really great work! Lots of content in one video!
Such beautiful items!!! 😁🌻
Awesome video!!! Loved every minute of it. Estate sales are the best!!!
Wow looks like a postcard very pretty live these places you end up at!! Loves ya xxx 🥰❤
I think the loop on the basket could be used to attach to a belt or rope about the waist to keep the hands free whilst doing a task using the basket as a container. I figure that most baskets are created as a vessel to help achieve some task. I’m not sure how the shape would incorporate into this but that’s just my thoughts.Maybe, possibly?
Port is an after dinner wine and is sweet to go along with chocolate and various pastries.
Love those vases....congrats to your niece to her antique barn sale. How i wish i can do this here in the Philippines. You are such an inspiration. 💖💖💖
I love port! Especially on a cold winters night to warm you up.
Hey Laura, great haul as usual. Port is my fave, always keep a bottle in kitchen, makes great addition to pan dripping gravy.
Bravo Laura , this was full of wonderful places, friends and family.
The Estate Sale left me breathless , I wanted to shop and I’ve learned so much from the circle of collectors & sellers including George the Antique Nomad , Im feeling confident.
Im newly divorced at 60, and leaving New Hampshire to be with my family south. Im excited to decorate and shop thrift and support local antique shops. I love that you like pieces to use vases, pitcher’s, wicker , flower pots and kitchen ware.
You have lifted my spirits so many times. Thank you
