"I Don't Wanna Be Me" from Type O Negative's "Life is Killing Me" album (2003).
It has been wayyyyy too long since I uploaded that first ToN bass cover. I guess I always thought that a patron would request it at some point, but nobody ever did. So here is a song that I've heard a bunch of times during my childhood, but I never really liked it that much. Years later, I would find out that Peter Steele plays... chords on the lower strings like it's nothing. There is like one live video of this song and in it, Peter plays nothing but chords throughout the entire song which is nuts. So yes, since most of us aren't giants, I decided to include the obvious chords that you can clearly hear in the studio version. I went for a tone that is a mix between Peter's tone and a mix that would do well on youtube. So I did include the chorus+distortion combo, I feel like a more distorted/fuzzy tone would completely dominate the mix.

How do you get the distortion? Do you use a distort guitar pedal for bass?
Oh I used a lot at once for this tone. We're talking about distortion, drive, chorus and some fuzz

Probably. I've never tried that but it could work I think. Especially for Type of Negative

I don't use physical pedals. All my effects and everything is done digitally :)

All good. In fact, it's true and that's why I am only using the lowest 4 strings. There are also 4 strings in the on-screen tabs :)
