Yes he would - I remember reading a very good article (on Pitchfork, can't link here, thanks YT) about George Harrison's qualities as a guitar player/songwriter, an article with input from Dhani and widow Olivia as well as younger musicians. Dhani knows his father's work across forty years without feeling weighed down by it.

After hearing, Donnie Harrison perform let it down and said white truffle. He could go on tour and do his dad’s whole catalog of beetles and solar work, and it would be the sold out concert of the year. He sounds exactly like George and he can raise money for George’s charity.

I've never heard Dhani pronounced as "Donnie" until this video, and now you're even spelling it as "Donnie".
At one point, while discussing Julian, this video says "in the mid ninety ess" instead of "in the mid nineties" -- I guess "90s" was too hard to interpret.

I think George would consider it a collaboration with his son….not an alteration by Dhani. He obviously loved his boy and probably wished/planned to create with him when he grew up. Sadly, that’s not how things turned out.

The "ethics" of "finishing George's song fragments"... George isn't around to "finish" anything now. He's gone. So what are these "ethics"? Have you never heard of a cover song, especially one with a unique take on it, or sampling? I can't imagine that George would care anyway. It was like the stupid Klein law suit over "My Sweet Lord". I don't care if there's an echo of "He's So Fine" George wrote it. It's a chord sequence. A riff is a riff.
One of my favourite Beatles songs is George doing Roll Over Beethoven. It's a cover. George sang it in his own style. Maybe he tried to play it like Chuck, but he added his own exuberance. If Dhanni uses his Dad's leftover riffs and licks, they will ultimately be Dhanni's final work - sampling his Dad. If you listen to them and like them, no other "ethics" are required.

  • @gwynhyfer

My dad died last year and being too far away to attend I was asked what songs I wanted played at his cremation. I remembered my dad grinning at me after I had bought 'My Sweet Lord' as a 14 year old and was sat crossed legged and closed eyes in the dining room loudly singing Hare Krishna. I don't know how long he had been watching me but he clearly found my teenage devotion ever so slightly hilarious! My brother arranged for the song to be played as my father's coffin was brought in for the service and I was able to wwatch it remotely. Thankfully I was on my own because as soon as the song began I was in floods of tears but able to compose myself to watch it again later with my adult son who has autism and I want him to know that passing over is a sad time but also a time to remember all the good times
On a slightly lighter note I asked for everyone to leave to "You Belong to Me" by Freddie and the Dreamers - another shared song.
George was my first crush and I was so sad he left us at such a young age... And Dani is the spit of his father - a very beautiful man.

The question of tapping into the unfinished work of George Harrison's music by his Son Dhani Harrison . I WOULD SAY : Why not ? we all know it's not actually GEORGE Finishing the work. But instead Georges son hoping to find meaning of some sort to some unfinished work. With giving a certain peace to Georges family. A father knowing a son being this interested. I DON'T THINK George would be disappointed ,but rather happy his family cared to be that close to wanting to maybe find a message George may have been trying to express deeply. Either way it's kind of a joined collaboration ( Between father & Son ).😁💚💟👍👌✌🎤🎼🎸☮

Good Day. Excellent & Educational. I was into MOTOWN and Jazz before The Beatles came to America. They changed my life, along with the whole "British Invasion" and "Underground FM Radio". I taught myself to play drums in 1963, and still play today. What a wonderful time to be alive then. Thank You for sharing the backgrounds of the families and children associated with
The Beatles. There have been many others in the rock world. Great Ones.
The Beatles were a One Of A Kind, and always will be. Their musical creativity and the effect they had on the world, was and is wonderful even today. I think that it will be fine to, at long last, share some more of George's creations. His son and wife will see to it that all is done properly. I trust, and look forward to it in the future. Such a Warm Feeling in My Heart.

I am a Beatles fan since the 60’s and I love George Harrison’s music. I think that it would be a great idea for his son to produce an album with his father’s music and his own merged together. For instance he takes an unfinished piece that his father read or sung the words to and put that as an intro to the finished sone with his son singing the complete song. That would give him the satisfaction of working with his father.

I remember that George had said that his music would live on and that he had laid out details of how he wanted it all handled. If you go back to around his death, there was a lot on this. If I recall, it was enough to keep going for maybe even a hundred years. He trusted Olivia & Dani to carry this out and they have been. I've been a George fan since I first heard them on with their first song on the US radio. Yes, I'm that old. George has been my favorite though I did love the Beatles as a whole as well. He was like a mentor to a 4-5 year old child and still is to this day,

👉 Not that anyone important will read this, but just in case someone does, I'd like to repeat something that George said long ago (when he got into electronic music): YOU CHANGE THE MUSIC, OR THE MUSIC CHANGES WITHOUT YOU.. If you couple that with his Eastern-leaning spiritual beliefs, I believe George would think of his son doing this as full circle and completely appropriate. ☺️

I really enjoyed your video except for three glaring items. First (and worst!): You completely skipped over Paul & Linda's 4th child, Heather, from Linda's previous marriage. Paul legally adopted 6-year-old Heather shortly after his and Linda's 1969 marriage. He reared and loved Heather as his own. Second: It warms my heart that all eleven of the Beatle kids blend with each other as family! That's awesome. However, Stella McCartney is Paul's daughter and Lee Starkey is Ringo's daughter which, as close as they may be, does not render them half-sisters as stated in this video. Third: George's son is named DHANI, not Donnie.

Excellent short documentary. As far as Dhani finishing his dads unfinished songs. I think if that’s what he feels he needs/wants to do than absolutely!! For many reasons. The biggest being him, and his mom know George better than anyone. George was definitely on board with helping the John Lennon unreleased songs see the light of day. Again…THIS IS GEORGE’S SON! I hope he does follow through with it, it will be awesome to hear the stuff George was working on. To never bring any of this to light is the real potential tragedy!

Have loved the Beatles since Feb. 1964. George is still the one I love most. Would LOVE to see George's work finished by Dhani and Olivia, and maybe Paul, Ringo, and even Eric Clapton for that matter. Or even with help from the other Beatle Babies. How fun would all that be ! ! ! ! Can't imagine anything George would love more. 💝🎉💖

Interesting how none of the Beatles' kids pursued "real jobs" (not a criticism but an observation) and how all the boys seem short (most shorter than they're average-sized dads). It's also interesting how the one who came closest to capturing their dad's legacy was John's estranged son, Julian Lennon, who had some legitimate chart-topping hits in the 1980s. It also seems like Sean Lennon was left out of this mini documentary.

It seems to be that the people who had downvoted were complaining that the video didn't confirm something they knew, which makes me wonder why they watched if they were already experts and knew every detail and interpretation. The only thing I was unsure of is Linda's musical ability.

So wonderful that Lee Starkey was able to beat cancer twice. How horrible for Ringo and Lee's brothers to have to go through that especially as it was around the time when George was sick and not long after Maureen passed from Leukemia (Ringo was actually at Maureen's bedside when she passed, in addition to her then current husband, so they maintained a bond until the end). I remember hearing Ringo say that he had gone to visit George in Switzerland when George was sick and when he left he was going to Boston to meet up with Lee for her tumor treatment. George was so kind that he said to Ringo, "Do you want me to come with you to Boston?" Can you imagine being so sick but offering to go with your "brother" to be with his sick daughter. That's a real bond.

I seriously doubt much of what you say. Lee and Stella are in no way related. Other information is available from the internet. Beatrice McCartney is almost 20 years old. You portray her as a child. She is no longer a child. And what about Paul’s other children? Did you just forget about James and Heather?
