That Alvin Lee and Mylon LeFevre album is an overlooked gem. It’s got a tone of famous musicians on it, like George Harrison himself (credited as Hari Georgeson), Steve Winwood, Ron Wood, Jim Capaldi, Mick Fleetwood, and Ian Wallace and Boz Burrell (who had been in the previous- at the time- lineup of King Crimson. Boz went on to join Bad Company shortly after that), and it’s just a great-sounding album altogether.

I've never even heard of many of these songs and many seem like they were forced. If they weren't written by Harrison they never would have been recorded. IMO if you want to be a successful writer you must be willing to accept that you will have many failures along with the successes.

@spongerubbertowerI truly think most American music lovers knew that the Isley Brothers originally recorded "Twist and Shout". It was just that in the Beatles' version, John Lennon just about stripped his vocal chords and we couldn't help but love him for throwing himself into the song so thoroughly. It was pretty much like nothing we'd ever heard before. And, I wasn't even that much of a Lennon or McCartney fan. It was just the energy, I suppose. Maybe you had to have been there.

What do all of these songs have in common other than the fact that they were written by George Harrison? With the possible exception of "Badge", they all SUCK! Harrison was simply not in the same league as a song writer as Lennon/McCartney. He wrote a handful of good songs, but that's all.

George was awesome. But his songs for other artists were meh. Macca contributions to others were much better and impactful to the artists. A world without love made Peter and Gordon's career. I wanna be your man for the Stones. Goodbye was Mary Hopkins 2nd biggest hit. Come and get it was Badfingers first hit. And he wrote dozens more for other artists.

He also wrote "I Wanna Be Your Ma" for the Stones, but they turned it down for some reason ?

I Wanna Be Your Man was Lennon/McCartney, not just Paul.

Hmm.. not too hard to see why Lennon/McCartney wrote all the Beatles hits.

He wrote some of the most famous and succesful songs in the Beatles’ catalogue: While my guitar gently weeps, Something, Taxman, Here comes the sun

Not hard to see Lennon/McCartney fans reflecting the attitude of Lennon and McCartney re George’s songwriting. Petty, dismissive, and wrong.

But Photograph was a number one hit for Ringo Starr written by George and yet WatchMojo passed it over for an obscure but nondescript song.
