  • In late August of 2021, the Cumbres And Toltec Scenic Narrow Gauge Railroad held "The Victorian Iron Horse Round Up", celebrating their 50th year of operation which was back in 2020. This event was originally scheduled for late summer of 2020, but it was postponed due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Event organizers, attendees, as well as VIPs and Special Visitors fortunately worked long and hard to reschedule all of the planned events. Nick Valdez Railroad Photography set out to capture a couple of key moments during the event's proceedings, which we have proudly procured into this 2-Part Series.
For more on this series of vides, be sure to check out Part 1. But in Part 2, we capture the next event that NVRRP was able to attend; that is the long-awaited doubleheader up Cumbres Pass featuring the 2 famous 4-4-0's "Eureka" and "Glenbrook". We view the nearly-chaotic morning activities in Chama, as the event commences amongst a sea of railfans. We then take to the pass to watch the 2 little engines battle it out up Cumbres Pass with their small consist. The pass unfortunately was to win against the locomotives on this run, as the "Eureka" suffered a blower failure just after getting the train to Cresco. After waiting for some time on updates, repairs, and more action, NVRRP unfortunately had to end filming on account of time constraints with previous engagements. The locomotives sure put up a grand and historic fight up the pass, adding to the many adventures that made up the famous "Victorian Ironhorse Roudup".
NVRRP would like to extend many thanks to all C&TS Staff, Volunteers, and other workers who put in many hours to make this ,assive event one to remember forever! Rate. Comment. Subscribe. ENJOY!!! Copyright Nick Valdez Railroad Photography 2021.
