Nora Jones talent is off the charts...her charisma, charm, and beautiful voice have no match today in my opinion...and on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd put her as close to 10 as possible. So talented, classy, and not full of herself like so many other so called Pop Stars.
Incredible Piano play. Great Cover. But what made Billie Holiday's version (watch?v=RX7TA3ezjHc) standout, was the amazing clarinet at the beginning and during the song. And the 1.30 min intro. Ah!
Beautiful voice. Why does she have to compare to anyone to make it a beautiful song?? Enjoy both renditions. Each has a quality of its own. Love Norah's sweet smooth voice.
"Easy Living" (1937) is a jazz standard by Ralph Rainger for the film Easy Living many jazz performers include Chet Baker, Clifford Brown, Miles Davis, Paul Desmond, Ella Fitzgerald & Joe Pass, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Anita O'Day, .. Nora Jones!... "Misty" is a 1950's jazz tune by Errol Garner coveed by Johnny Mathis. Both EZ and slow tempo. Nice EZ dance tunes. Much different in melody and chords. The piano in this is Garner-like (nice) lots of sustain
Is underrating that opinião,jazz , don't forget country, well so and so music all together it os in her,in the Soul, and happy us for having her, apart of being One of many, i'm not on love,no no no,just Enchantment for any admiration💐💟☮️

"Easy Living" (1937) is a jazz standard written by Ralph Rainger and lyrics by Leo Robin for the film Easy Living where it was the main theme of the score but not sung. A popular recording in 1937 was by Teddy Wilson with Billie Holiday and ...Lester Young ~~~
Good modern take on a jazz classic. Really good and I'm always open to different takes but not so much the vanilla jazz pop; there's must always be something new to the table and I think this is an excellent example
yeah i completely agree with you, i know Norah is not too mainstream these days, but i have been listening to her for a while now, and i really enjoy her music - which is why im here. Guess not everyone is into this genre, which sucks :p
Some songs never age dear Norah !! Its like your voice and your fingers on the ivory and ebony !! Just like good wine !! Smooth and beautiful for the palate !! ⚘🌻💞
Girl! Grow a pair! Did you actually listen to the words? Must have been written before women realized they didn't actually need a man to exist. Apart from that, the best songs were also written at that time and people like Norah Jones were just born to sing them!
If only Norah would record an album of standards....you'd see sales numbers like the first CD. Just don't care too much for her later stuff. This however is sublime.
Were it so easy. Unfortunately we cant make anyone hear this sort of thing, they must come to it with their own free will and with no enhanced expectations. Unfortunately the media industry is far too shallow nowadays and children...too easily misled.
comparing her to Billie really doesn't make sense, they are like apples and oranges stylistically, personally, vocally, really in almost every way--even if they were around during the same time period they would be quite different. It's like comparing Nina to Ella. @michalhlisnik She may not be a superstar but as far as her being on top, you are right, because she really already is. In the jazz world she is nothing short of a modern household name. She's a great talent =)
my sweet man, who died a couple of years from cancer, was one of a kind. I just found an old email from when we started dating. He told me I was easy to love.
Niije fer ja ovde iznosim svoje emocije svoje misljenje a druga strana ne nego kroz tudje pesme i emocijr zato zene uvekispadaju glupe vise necu pisati
Maybe, but imo comparing talent in music can be a bit irrelevant. What does it even mean? Vocal range or ability? Creativity? Originality? Musicianship? Effectiveness? Technique? Comparing a sax player and drummer may yield more similarities than would comparing 2 singers, if the players had similar musical ideas, stylistic characteristics, etc. Yes, there is such a thing as having "a lot" of talent, but both singers do. It's what they've done with it. Jones is also an accomplished jazz pianist.
my heart is just dancing in my chest & my mind's flying somewhere i can't tell... the melody, the piano style, the feeling Norah brings...all of them...are just...so...wonderful! words can not describe how i love her & love this version
Umm, Just what is it exactly did you mean 'this is Norah'? Did you mean that she and she alone originated this song? Well, you are sadly mistaken, for no one sings this song like BILLIE. How old are you?
This is just gorGEOUS! Norah should really do an album of standards. I know the label thinks they can make more money with original stuff that appeals to a younger audience...but I think they are really missing the boat. Kinda surprised Norah hasn't insisted on it?
A tender ballad Easy Living has forthright lyrics that declare just how wonderful life can be when living for someone you love. The songwriting team of Ralph Rainger and Leo Robin wrote Easy Living in 1937 for the film of the same name which was well-reviewed and is best characterized as a screwball comedy classic. Their partnership was a productive one, producing a number of hits in the '30s, and lasted until Rainger’s tragic death in a plane crash in 1942. - Upon the film's release, the song did not garner much public attention due to the fact that of it being an instrumental track. That same year, however, Billie Holiday did a vocal cover of the song with Teddy Wilson’s Orchestra, and their version stayed in the charts for two weeks peaking at 15th position. It is with her that Easy Living is associated with to this day. Following Holiday's footsteps, such artists as Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Chet Baker, and Wardell Gray covered Easy Living and by doing so contributed to it becoming a jazz standard. In 1955, iconic trumpeter Miles Davis also recorded a great version of the song with an offbeat arrangement and breezy rhythm section provided by the drummer Elvin Jones, vibraphonist Teddy Charles, trombonist Britt Woodman, and bassist Charles Mingus: ~ Billie Holiday version ~~ ~ ruclips.net/video/MpYIELZmo9Y/видео.html
I like Norah doing this. I like Billie doing this. But over the history of this song Clifford Brown took ownership from those who did it before him and no one following has taken ownership from him.
8 months later and it has over 160k more views. Which is still criminal. So there are flashy mainstream pop videos with 40 million views and this ain't gotten to 200k yet. I wonder if that will change when those teens spamming the view button of such generic and bland pop videos grow up. We can hope.
Easy Living Lyrics
Living for you is easy living
It's easy to live when you're in love
And I'm so in love
There is nothing in life but you
I never regret the years I'm giving
They're easy to give when you're in love
I'm happy to do whatever I do for you
For you maybe I'm a fool
But it's fun
People say you rule me with one wave of your hand
Darling, it's grand
They just don't understand
Living for you is easy living
It's easy to live when you're in love
And I'm so in love
There's nothing in life but you
Thanks for putting up the lyrics!
Thank you for the lyrics
Without that Norah Jones it realizing it, she helped me through an extremely difficult period. And for that I will always remain grateful to her!
Living for you is easy living
It's easy to live when you're in love
And I'm so in love
There's nothing in life but you
I'll never regret the things I'm giving
They're easy to give when you're in love
I'm happy to do whatever I do for you
For you maybe I'm a fool, but it's fun
People say you rule me with one wave of your hand
Darling, it's grand, they just don't understand
Living for you is easy living
It's easy to live when you're in love
And I'm so in love
There's nothing in life but you
For you maybe I'm a fool, but it's fun
People say you rule me with one wave of your hand
Baby, it's grand, they just don't understand
Living for you is easy living
It's easy to live when you're in love
And I'm so in love
There's nothing in life but you
Köszönöm!
I'll never regret the years* I'm giving

+Kamlesh Mallick Agreed, but it's a clarinet. A lot of people forget that the dark, warm tone of a clarinet is great for jazz.
+Ryan Clark kenny g hasn't
Yep you can't beat a horn
Ah Crawl out through the fallout
This was a one-off rendition. Such talent.
Great voice, luscious lips, and a beautiful face. I'm a fan
Billie Holiday brought me here.
Go back to Lady Day, the real deal.
Norah you nail it right through my heart.
Anyone else sing this to their dog or just me? 🤷
Just you 😅
All of the feminists do, but i bet most to the happy wife's sings this song to their kids and husbands. 😊
Beautiful voice. Why does she have to compare to anyone to make it a beautiful song?? Enjoy both renditions. Each has a quality of its own. Love Norah's sweet smooth voice.
Love Noraj Jones, her voice relaxes me.
Best version still Billie Holiday's 1937! with Lester Young in Tedy Wilson's band.

Of course Billie Holiday was one of the greatest jazz vocalists, but time goes on and Norah is fabulous, just enjoy it.
Very true. I love Billie, but Norah is amazing too. Time gallops along, and I'm thankful we have artists like her, in my lifetime.

Man and woman will always need each other. Alone is alone not alive.
Why didn't Norah stick to jazz? It's such a pity
I totally agree, Louis.
Yes... it's a pity
If only Norah would record an album of standards....you'd see sales numbers like the first CD. Just don't care too much for her later stuff. This however is sublime.
She still the best of the best🙂
Dear Norah, thanks to this "easy living" song, my life means something, at least.
I am serious !

Dear Norah, thanks to this amazing version of "Easy Living". Now, I know my life does mean something, at last.

Lol. I think he means that this is Norah at her best. In which case, I'd agree.
I think Marian was literally 85 when she did that..wow! and Norah...mmm
If I don't marry Norah Jones, I have no faith in the concept of destiny.

Walked in, sat down, coughed, looked down, and up this popped. Excuse me, two years later.

I think originals and standards together are the way to continue. She is a classic regardless of doing newer or standards.
wow she covered it wow i love her more :*

I would also like you to do a standards album. Do you know Norah the younger generation are now into old jazz standards .💕
