      I can relate to that. Different circumstances, but 20 years ago I clung to the FLH CD like it was a literal comfort blanket during a specifically depressing period. Severe depression caused by bereavement. It wasn't just FLH but at that time it was the new "hotness" from Norah and I only very rarely played her debut album, and no music from anyone else no matter how good they are seemed to do anything. FLH calmed my mind even if only for brief periods, I would have gone insane without Norah Jones back then.

    When I was in middle school, it rained so much that I took a taxi. Then "don't know why" was playing on the radio. I can't forget that moment. After that, I went to a local music store, bought a new album, CD, and listened to it over and over again at home.
    Thank you for making memories of my life!

    • @GeoJoe1
      @GeoJoe1 2 месяца назад +14

      Really cool how you phrased that "making memories of my life". I often think of songs or albums throughout my life that I know exactly where I was and even very minor details about what I was doing when I was listening to it. Music can be very impactful and I share this feeling of "memories of my life".

    Huge props to the sound team. Because Sami is playing that glockenspiel so delicately, barely touching those bars. And each note shines through, each is clear and distinct and a true compliment to the piano. Her two songs would be lessened without those notes. *That's* a great musician! And it would have been lost without a great sound team. +bravo!+

I do not really know how she does it, but whatever piano she plays, the sound is unmistakably and distincly Norah's, I don't know any other piano player with such personal magic. You can tell this or that pianist playing by phrase, techniques, touch, attack on keys but extracting such an own sound from any piano is a miracle. Superb. Norah Jones is simply one of the greatest singers I’ve had the pleasure to hear. Up there with Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. Great songwriter and pianist to boot: what an all round musical talent. How do Tiny Desk get such a lovely live sound balance?

    Hello, Norah. I used to listen to your music every time i go out with my sister. I didn't know much about music that time and the artists, but when my sister played your CD in the car, it was one of the happiest and memorable moments of my life, and i wish i can just go back to that time where everything was easier. To be honest, i grew apart with that sister for reasons, but at least when i go looking back on the better times, the car rides with your music was one of the good memories of our time together that i'll cherish forever. thank you!

    Songs like "What Am I to You"... & "Thinking of You" always have me in my feelings! 😭 Norah is quietly establishing herself as a soul blues and jazz great! 💯 ❤️🎶🎶🎶

    Norah Jones has been something that binds me and my mom, it's a sound thats been there since i was really young and I've known all the lyrics to most of her songs since i was very little. Mom and I have bonded over it, it's our thing, something we sing to together, something that is just so nostalgic and sweet to me. I'm so glad this exists :]

    I first got into Norah Jones when her album "The Fall" came out and we played it nonstop at the bookstore where I worked at the time.
    It's been over a decade now since I listened to her music. But hearing this Tiny Desk performance made it feel like all my problems and stresses were melting away. I really needed this today. I missed her voice and her smooth, charismatic style.
    Thank you, Ms. Jones!

    Did I only blink, and Norah Jones is suddenly 45? Her music and voice defy the years, and her band totally shows up for the moment. Wish I could say the same. Just dip me in the velvet of these moments, and I'll be fine.

    Maybe one of the best band one can hear nowadays?
    Everyone is so implicated in the music.
    Everyone in the band is a star, but everyone serves the music with no will to bring the lights on nobody except the songs that are played.
    Mrs Jones, I am really impressed by how you give us moments of grace!!!
