HAHAH she is
i truly am pls help
it's amazing how many videos there are on the internet with a click bait title like how to shoot "Cinematic" footage. Then they ramble on about lenses and cameras and gimbals etc etc etc. When really it's about the appropriate tools for that specific job at the time. I love this because although he uses pretty expensive lights in this tutorial, in truth all you need is a bed sheet and some cheap lights to get a decent rendition of this technique. Couple this with a great acting performance and the right choices in camera movement and set dressing and sound design, and you will get pretty close to "Cinematic".
thank you for your insight !!!
Very good explanation one small tip, choose a lower F-Stop to let more of that light in and blur the background a bit, Deakins likes to keep the clarity on the faces but let the light truly overtake the face. He likes to adjust between f2.8 and 4 but it does vary.
I run across a lot of people who misunderstand cove lighting in that they will light each “segment” of the cove at the same brightness, so this is a perfect explanation.
And the LitePanels Gemini is a BADASS light. I’ll be putting mine to use in a few videos soon.
hey brother!! Its a sick light, can't wait to see what you do with it!
Thanks for having an AMAZING channel Brady!
We come in peace ✌️ back where we are from, there's a bastardised relationship 🤭
and I can say the same for YOU! Cheers to a new friendship!
soon 100.000 I see it coming
I recently stumbled across your channel and absolutely love your videos. I'm getting into filming as a hobby and you not only have the "look" that I'm trying to achieve, but also break things down so well and clearly. Thank you for creating this content.
Awesome! Thank you! I'm glad I can help!
My constant search for excellent content and I keep coming back to your channel - thanks for making these.
This was very interesting, you’re actually the first video I’ve found on this technique. Actually quite simple to achieve as well when you think about it. Will definitely be utilising this in future shorts!
Oh really ?? I’m flattered! Thank you so much
Sera's acting is awesome. I mean she continues acting like a pro while you're adjusting the lights. Great tutorial. Learned heaps.
Wish I had a teacher like you during my school days. Clean , crisp show and tell method works best for me. Thanks mate. Love your classroom.
sorry I am late but better late than never!
You, Rob Ellis, and wandering DP are RUclips goats when it comes to this stuff. Thank you
my heart is warm
Thankyou for sharing all your amazing techniques Brady...

I came after watching your more recent video on bouncing light. I can see you’ve learned a lot. Thanks.
Fantastic! I will definitely try to use this in my shorts this year! Thanks a lot!
Heck yeah good luck!

Makes me so happy thank you
Happy new year Brady!! Best wishes for this 2021. I like this kind of videos, is always great to learn from the masters! :)
More to come! HNY!!
PSA: don't use gaff or duct tape on walls, it'll take off paint. Use paper tape.
hey you're 100% right, just had gaff on hand
I found this out the hard way the other day with gaff tape 😥
NO GAFF ON WALLS. The big boys use ProTape 306P743160MSW Tape. It also goes by ShureTape Photo Black or Permacel Photo Tape. Take it off same day and you can basically guarantee you won't take paint off the wall. Good 'ol Blue Masking Tape works too in a pinch.
@@BradyBessette My gaff tape is special kind... meant to save the tape :-). Y'all should get one of those.
This is definitely helpful, thanks for all the amazing videos!
Glad you like them!

Did she ever finish baking the cookies? I’ve seen vids on his famous cove light set ups. Sir Roger floods the scene with beautiful light. Nice vid, sir.
Let's take a moment to appreciate all the girlfriends/boyfriends who patiently go through our filmmaking experiments! What would we do without you? 😆Nice video Brady. Keep it up!
I couldn't agree more!! thank you
This -- more vids like this. But most ppl dont have the 1x1 LED. Would love to see more of what you can do with garbage lights - neewar, godox etc.

It was so tasty
Show n tell yes!

My Light Master :-)
the light master is within you
Yeah I would only suggest using fresnels or spot lights instead for sheer output. Deakins himself would use cheap open face tungstens when bouncing simply because they had more output which is always the main "issue" when using bounced sources, you lose a lot softening the light so you need more output.
Fresnels or par lights for bouncing and soft panels or kinos (horizontal) are better for diffusing.
Thanks!!!
Hey man, great video! I have a suggestion for a video. Could you do a video about different type of lighting to invest in when on a budget. If you did this it would, personally, be the icing on the cake. Such an awesome channel!!!
I think I could do that!!
Didn’t know this lighting technique was called that way... so learned something new, thanks!
Happy to help!
I'm late but show and tell sounds fun man
Still I have to do it!!
I think show and tell would be great. Critiquing each others work is one of the best ways to improve.
you got it!
You missed the opportunity to call him Sir Roger Deakins, now that he has been knighted
I was informed a bit too late im sorry !
You rock dude
thank you Luke!
Hi Brady, thanks for a great walkthrough of cove lighting. Here's a newbie question: Would this scene be lit sufficiently, even when shooting with a Sony A7iii in Slog2? Or should the light panels be cranked up?
thank you so much
Nice video 📹👍👌
I love it when my favorite channels do a crossover! Please collaborate with @epiclightmedia
