I had a 79 4×4 Chevy, and my passenger side core support bracket was welded back together like yours.
I wonder if that is accident damage? A side hit maybe.
Nice work! Found a good one for sure. Love the Step Side Squares!!
It's a good starting point for sure. Everything isn't completely rotted out.
@@mossman381 agreed / my son and I are taking off my front clip on my 86 Square soon - are there 4 fender bolts on each side and the two core supports? Thinking once free we can take it off complete.
Yes, 4 fender bolts on each side and two core support bolts. There is wiring and the heater hoses were attached to the inner fender. That's going to be a heavy piece to pick up. Just the core support with the radiator just about took out my back.
@@mossman381 10/4 I did notice it looked heavy/awkward. Thanks for the replies.
Truck doesn’t look bad and I know the feeling about not knowing where to stop that’s why my nova has been in a 10 year frame off restoration because I couldn’t stop
The truck is a good starting point. Everything isn't completely rotted out. It's still going to take a lot of time and even more money to complete. Might do this one like the 70 and get it looking good under the hood and running/driving. Later down the road I can finish the body. I am not sure.
I recommend LMC Truck they have just about any part you would need for that
Hey I have a question on your snow plow video install regarding lights. Are we to hop on a call?
I don't give out my phone #. You can ask me here and I will do my best to answer it.
So I have a lighting harness 69817-1 for a 2013 Chevy 2500. The recommended is 29400-7 for western. But the switches are different.
What truck are you working on? What switches are you talking about? Do you mean headlight plugs?
2013 Chevy 2500 Silverado. You have email where can I send pics.
Yes I believe headlight plugs
Making sure you oil the springs is more important
Oil the springs?
@@mossman381 yes. believe it or not its extremely important.
I've had 10+ squares over the years and currently drive 3 and have restored 2 of them. I've never had a hood issue when oiling the hinges and springs. Everything moves very very easily
@@brettwalker5318 I have never had a kinked hood either. I don't think oiling the springs will do anything. I know with garage door springs you oil them, but they are twisted, and I believe rub each other. The springs on a hood are not twisted, they are just pulled and stretched. Just lubricate all the joints on the hinge and you will be ok.
