When I think of bridesmaids countries Colombia is always the first that comes to mind. They seem to send out beautiful candidates but always miss the mark. Usually it seems that the Q&A rounds are their weak points. I’m surprised with Luxembourg never placing since they are such a wealthy nation. I would’ve imagined they have the resources to properly prepare their representatives 🤷🏻♀️
Actually, Luxembourg did place in pageants, they placed in Miss International twice (1975 and 1993) and Miss Supranational once (2013), but the thing is, Luxembourg never cared about beauty pageant whatsoever, they could afford to go to any international pageant but they couldn't care less if they ever placed in one, another thing is that most Europpean countries don't really care about beauty pageant anymore so when Luxembourg's neighbors don't give a damn about it they decided to do the same and stop caring about beauty pageant, though they're still sending delagates to Miss World.
Within the International Miss Earth Elemental Court's History, Colombia 🇨🇴 Only has 4️⃣ Elemental 👸 (aka the Top 3️⃣ Runners-Up) Without Winning the Miss Earth Title at All. 1️⃣ 💛☁️ Queen (aka the 1st Runner-Up) [for the Year of 2016], 2️⃣ 💙💧 Queens (aka the 2nd Runners-Up) [for the Respective Years of 2017 and 2018] and 1️⃣ ❤🔥 Queen (aka the 3rd Runner-Up) [for the Year of 2022 Until the Present Era].
It doesnt seem quite to me, a question cant give a crown, its your whole performance that Night, there are some Colombian queens that didnt even placed in top 10/5 and was not because of lack of performance or beauty, The country always sends very prepared candidates, or some cases like 2017, When Colombia answered better than south africa and she still lost, the same applies to 1992 and 1994 as well, more prepared queens with better answers got to be the 1st runner up even when their performances was better than the winner, in 2019 Colombia sent one of the prettiest and smartest woman in miss universe history and didn't even entered the top 3, i think the only Time a colombian queen lost her crown for an answer was in 2008, when Taliana Vargas got tongue twisted and lost her crown to another amazing competitior, Dayana Mendoza. It seems that the organization simply doesn't like to crown Colombian queens
Love your in-depth and statistics on Miss Universe. Any chance you'd do a video on miss universe height? Tallest/shortest winners and/or tallest contestants? I know Miss Venezuela 1994, Minorka Mercado was 6'2".

I enjoy watching your videos as I consider myself somewhat of a pageant nerd as well. I just want to add that Jamaica has won Miss World four times and was the first runner up in the 2010 edition of Miss Universe.
A special mention to Curaçao, certainly not as unlucky as many others, but considered a shoo-in winner twice in Miss Universe only to end up empty-handed, both in 1968 and 1997.

Luxembourg has been serious about collecting big Ls 27 at Miss Universe and 25 at Miss World. The lack of successful references is probably what keeps morale down in those countries.
Thank you for putting this all together. The statistics are indeed very interesting! In terms of performance at the international level, what do you think are the main factors as to why certain countries' representatives never seem to place? Do you think that in some cases it might be political in nature? Or do you think that those contestants might not have the same level of coaching/polish as the pageant powerhouse nations?
Thanks very much! So glad you enjoyed all the stats 😊 To answer your questions, I think it’s likely a combination of everything you suggest. For anyone to claim there isn’t politics or favouritism in international pageants I think is foolish. For a multitude of reasons, certain countries may be favoured over others - whether it’s due to where the pageant is held, what country the organisation is based in, a country’s history in the pageant, the popularity of pageantry in a certain country - I think they all have a role to play. But most certainly some countries prepare their queens better than others, and they should be rewarded for those efforts - not purely because of those efforts, however. The queen should still deserve her spot and perform well nonetheless.
The first country that came to mind when I saw the title was Colombia (especially, at Universe). From the three b2b 1st RU placements to the mess that was Pia's crowning, poor Colombia.

Hi! I am not sure if someone already pointed this out but at 15:21, I think you accidently put Yasmin Daji's picture above Iona Pinto's name. Yasmin Daji was the 3rd runner up during the Miss Universe 1966 pageant I believe. Nevertheless, great content and editing! I always make sure to watch every single video :)
I think it's not so much a case of being unlucky for many of these countries but it's because pageants aren't taken as seriously there and they think it's enough to be beautiful, so their entrants don't prepare enough for the all important interviews.
I am not sure if I missed some parts of your video, but is Jamaica on the video? They have won the Miss World 4 times but despite having strong candidates in the recent years, they are yet to win Miss Universe.
Luckily Mexico won Miss World 2018 after being in top 5 many times, deserving the title in 2005 and 2009. Since 2017 is been in top 5 and top 12 and I hope will win again this year because the Mexican queen has many followers and won another international title already. I would like that Mexico wins Miss Earth some day but has only won an element title twice. Well, I hope Mexico wins MGI soon because it really deserved it in 2019. I'm sure that Mexico is so close to win the second MW crown than other pageant crowns.
Philippines is unlucky on the Miss World with only 1 crown in 2013. In 1973, Philippines placed 1st Runner Up but crown was not awarded for unknown reason after the dethrone of the 1973 Miss World from USA.
Colombia & Venezuela are the top 2 countries that send in the Most Gorgeous Delegates - yet somehow fail to excel in the Q& A. The Countries powerful in.the Q&A are South Africa, India Phillippines & Vietnam.......followed by Thailand & USA. There's a change in the recent decade - Intelligence is now Recognised as well as Confidence . Was it the Owner... The Judges .....The Fans....that brought this change about ??? I would think so...especially the Latter
I mean, the level of research and excellent attention to detail is unmatched TPN. A typical pageant fan or even the avid ones know only the winners or the controversies. You go beyond nerdy IMO. A pageant fountain of knowledge perhaps? 😅
Trivia.... did you know the very first Miss Universe Armi Kuusela's husband was a Filipino businessman named Virgilio Hilario. Just wanted to share hehehe =D
@@Agent-ie3uv Why so triggered I just said a trivia! What is soooo wrong with that? Did not find anything wrong with my comment. You on the other hand are finding something to hate about something. What a loser!

An interesting video might be on stats on Yugoslavia’s placement in Miss Universe and other alpha pageants when they competed as unified Yugoslavia. Then post fall of Yugoslavia they competed as separate republics like Croatia, Slovenia, Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro? And I also remember Bosnia and Herzegovina winning Miss Earth once? Another interesting topic would be USSR placements before former member nations competed separately, like Russia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakstan, and so on; and how they fared as separate nations
In today's pageantry. The Miss World's popularity and relevance begin to dwindled. In recent years, they often delayed and cancelled now their pageant. They no longer have an ability to stage a competition annually. It's not a surprise If we heard someday in the news that this pageant was no longer owned by Julia Morley.
Two fun facts a propos of Denmark's two times 1986 1st runner-up Pia Rosenberg Larsen: that year's Danish (unplaced) representative at Miss Universe was future supermodel Helena Christensen and Pia's son Marcus Rosenberg Jorgensen was top 10 at Mister Supranational 2016.
I must admit I had to research who this guy was, but the Aussie accent is certainly unmistakable! I’d be thrilled to have 3M subscribers like him! 🇦🇺❤️
It's still unbelievable that Brazil lost to Japan in 2007! I mean, the Japanese was undeniably beautiful, but the Brazilian was stunning, a goddess! And, honestly, the Korean should have been the first runner-up, she was way more beautiful than the Japanese. But that title should have gone to Brazil!
Oh, my goodness. When you use the thanks function you have to do it before the video ends which I did to say thanks for all of this hard work and to congratulate you on 15,000 subscribers! thank you . as the owner of Misters of Canada, I really enjoyed your commentary, Indept analysis as most pageant commentators only speak about recent pageants. It's a breath of fresh air to teach the younger bloggers how it's done. Thank you for making your commentary different and non-biased to any competition.I use your videos in helping to prepare my guys for international competition, showing them how research is done on the competition that they're competing in
Im waiting till my country miss canada wins miss world or miss international pageants they have won miss universe twice and miss Earth once.last year miss canada international was on top 8 in 2022. I hope Madison Kaitlin either win miss universe or place in to 16 this year. I hope i can see it on RUclips or tv this year 🎉
I don't honestly know why Brazil wastes time taking part in these pageants... Seriously! When we won the 2nd Miss Universe crown, most powerhouses (Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Philippines had won NONE). Time has passed, they've won several titles and we're left just clapping. When Miss Earth was created, we won it twice. No one had won it more than us. Again, time passed, we never won it again and other countries have overtaken us. In 2023, a brand new pageant was created - Miss Charm - and guess what: Brazil won it! Do you want to bet that time will pass and we'll win nothing again? 🙂 In Miss Universe''s case, there seems to be a slight ''non-liking'' towards us. In 1993, people in Mexico were in awe when Leila Schuster wore a brilliant white dress. Everyone thought she would win... She didn't even make it to the top 5. In 2017, Raissa Santana was considered by every pageant blogger I read the frontrunner alongside France's candidate. They were always top 2, with Raissa usually getting the #1 spot on the prediction lists. One blogger said something at the time that struck with me: "Raíssa stands out and is being considered the name to beat. She's got such an overwhelming lead on so many people's list that I have a terrifying feeling that something is going to happen and she won't win''... I guess the guy was a psychic. She was flawless but had to do the swimsuit part of the competition alongside the obese Miss Canada. The difference was startling. That said, Leila Lopes (angolan miss universe, crowned in Brazil!) and Perez Hilton both said that CANADA had stood out... Sorry, but no... It was the beginning of wokeness showing up at the pageants... WHat happened? Gorgeous Raíssa and her killer body didn't make it to the top 9. Canada did. Oh, and France won. At least 1 top 2 prediction was correct. So, honestly, why waste time taking part in these competitions? I honestly don't know. Sorry for the venting! 🙂
Will always be a loyal fan ❤ however im sensing youre scared to tackle my request of what you think are the most controversial wins hahahaha but trust me it will explode youtube!!!! You can do this!
I’m not gonna lie, the types of videos where I express an opinion vs merely laying out the facts do frighten me a little! I’ve tried to stick to the cold hard facts as much as possible in my content to date. But I’m willing to take on your challenge 😊 Let me ask you this - how do you define “controversial” in this context? What would be some of your picks?
@@PageantNerd okay. Wait yihhhh im fanboying gimme 2 seconds. Whew. Okay. In my opinion, at first, stay as far away from opinions that are purely objective (swimsuit and evening gown) and instead focus on overall performances that rely heavily on those final crucial moments (final answer, etc.). And make sure that you gauge if a significant amount of the pageant world shares the same sentiment. Don't make it a definitive "what you think" but rather, spark the question. Spark the "could it have beem wrong"?
So, more of a “could’ve been the winner instead” kind of situation? I’ve definitely thought about an “alternative Miss Universe” video which proposes another winner instead of the eventual queen. Surely bound to stir up its own controversy!
@PageantNerd .....Yes....I know it has nothing to do with The unlucky post!....Im just proud to be able to point that detail out!....Since..so many Powerhouse Countries have not accomplished this yet!......Ps....we are a small island!.....
@@Boychick2023I am Puertorrican like you and I was born here but my Dad is Puertorrican and my Mom is Venezuelan. Venezuela has won all of them except Miss Supranational in which Valeria Vespoli of Venezuela was the first runner-up and Srinidhi Shetty of India unfortunately won but the real winner was Venezuela, something that still hurts.

When I think of bridesmaids countries Colombia is always the first that comes to mind. They seem to send out beautiful candidates but always miss the mark. It feels good to be crazy with TPN's mindblowing pageant statistics!!! I couldn't ask for more!!!
Thanks Arnav, yes someone else had pointed out my error - I just wish I could make small edits to my videos without having to delete and reload then!
Oh yes, I absolutely should’ve included Jamaica - 1RU in 2010 and other Top 5 finishes. Good spot!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Very sweet words - and I’m so glad you enjoy the fruits of my labour! All the best to you 🥰❤️
You can not say runner up again as far are some countries are concerned. Every year different contestants
Trivia.... did you know the very first Miss Universe Armi Kuusela's husband was a Filipino businessman named Virgilio Hilario. Just wanted to share hehehe =D
It’s ARMI Kuusela’s is Married to Virgilio Hilario and true Pilipino..
I met a Finish (?) Lady in Germany and she knew about Armi Kuusela and her filipino husband Hilario.
What's the point of this comment? You know other fans are mad to philioinos so stop exposing yourself. 🙄
@@Agent-ie3uv Why so triggered I just said a trivia! What is soooo wrong with that? Did not find anything wrong with my comment. You on the other hand are finding something to hate about something. What a loser!
@Bonbon C You should thanking me for giving you piece of useful advice to not targeted by other pageant fans of other country but you decided to take a massive L on this take 🚮
An interesting video might be on stats on Yugoslavia’s placement in Miss Universe and other alpha pageants when they competed as unified Yugoslavia.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY 😊 😃 😀 😄 😁 🤣 😊 LOVE YOUR CONTENT, WE ENJOYED BEING NERDS WITH YOU 😂LORD BLESS YOU ✝️ ❤
Thanks!
You sounded like the "slapped ham" youtuber haha
I must admit I had to research who this guy was, but the Aussie accent is certainly unmistakable! I’d be thrilled to have 3M subscribers like him! 🇦🇺❤️
As a proud Greek-America, I would like to see another Miss Greece become Miss Universe as the last one from Greece to win since 1964.
Colombia needs more Miss Universe
Um,I'm not sure if i can think of any countries that have not been placed in Miss Universe pageant. Miss world or miss international or Miss Earth
In what category mexico would be in?
the lukewarm candidates, they won for now and lose miserably the next day 🤣
Brazil won Miss Earth in 2004 and 2009.
What is most prestigious? Miss universe or miss world?
It's still unbelievable that Brazil lost to Japan in 2007! I mean, the Japanese was undeniably beautiful, but the Brazilian was stunning, a goddess! And, honestly, the Korean should have been the first runner-up, she was way more beautiful than the Japanese. But that title should have gone to Brazil!
❤❤
Oh, my goodness. When you use the thanks function you have to do it before the video ends which I did to say thanks for all of this hard work and to congratulate you on 15,000 subscribers! I am so happy for you! And I needed some wonderful content because it has been a month! THEN I nearly fell off my chair when you mentioned me. You continue to bring more joy to now 15,000 subscribers and we are all cognizant of the amount of time and work you put into your content. So, thank you for mentioning me - so humbling and continue to lead with your policy to keep it fresh and light and NEVER hurting anyone. I hope you understand that you are a leader in the pageant community, and we are so lucky to be your subscribers! XO Joseph from the US
It was the absolute least I could do - I’ll be forever grateful for your tireless support and encouragement. And even noticing when I reach subscriber milestones, which I would never expect of anyone but myself! The pageant community needs many more people like you to foster positive dialogue between fans. I’m equally grateful for you!
Hi there!. I've been waiting your reaction a bout the previous MUP 2023 and i'm sure your happy Michelle Dee won the crown. Remember last year (smile)... what's your thoughts on this thanks...
Hi there back to you! Thanks for your kind words. I’m indeed working on a MUPh review - standby! And yes, my prediction came true, a year later!!!
@@PageantNerd anytime sir!. Ok then i'll wait.
Jamaica was not included Four miss whirlwind three top five at miss universe
Yes I most definitely should’ve mentioned Jamaica!
thank you . as the owner of Misters of Canada, I really enjoyed your commentary, Indept analysis as most pageant commentators only speak about recent pageants. It's a breath of fresh air to teach the younger bloggers how it's done. Thank you for making your commentary different and non-biased to any competition.I use your videos in helping to prepare my guys for international competition, showing them how research is done on the competition that they're competing in
Instantly though of my country Brazil
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Philippines also became runners up consistently from 2011 to 2014.
Brazil....six times First Runner ups...
Love your analyst.
In Miss Universe''s case, there seems to be a slight ''non-liking'' towards us.
@@PageantNerd it sure will! Just remember not to sugar coat hehehehe
❤
here after denmark just won its first miss universe a while back - miss universe 2024!
PUERTO RICO is the luckiest Country Ever in Beauty Pageantry
Lucky if the pageant was performed in Puerto rico itself 🤣
Canada won 2 MU crowns and 1 ME crown, they came close of winning the crown 3 times at Miss World in 1984, 1989 and 2003.
And they’re mentioned in the video
USA rules for wins at MISS UNIVERSE!
at 6:01 it is should be 2009
Oh yes, so it should! For once I thought I’d made a mistake-free video… Hopefully next time! Thanks for letting me know 😊
I just want to point out that Puerto 🇵🇷 rico is the only country who has won ALL major crowns!......Check for yourself!......We are A Powerhouse!....
I don’t doubt that for a second! Hence why they’re not considered “unlucky” 🙂
I live in Corozal, Puerto Rico but I have to note that Venezuela deserved to be the first country or territory to win all seven most important beauty pageants including Miss Intercontinental. Venezuela has won all of them except Miss Supranational in which Valeria Vespoli of Venezuela was the first runner-up and Srinidhi Shetty of India unfortunately won but the real winner was Venezuela, something that still hurts.
@@TheBest-rv9qi .....I got you!......Hehe......but your Puerto Rican half is still UNBEATEN!......you are half of 2 powerhouses!......you should be very proud!......Venezuelan women are goddeses!.......
