People angry at Caulfield don’t understand anything , he wore it before and had Johnny as an idol growing up so it’s a nice way of Honoring him
people will get angry at anything these days :(
Didn't see the reaction to the news yet, but how (not) surprising that toxic people are being toxic
Why would anyone be angry about it? 😂
@@chrisdaddy4637 people want to be mad at anything they can saying it’s disrespectful or just doing it for clout
@@bsfm6990 usually but I don’t really think that in this case. I haven’t seen anyone even getting mad
Class move from Caufield
it's very rare to see a homage like Caufield is doing for Gaudreau and it's fitting that he does it because he was his idol. top class for me
Feel better soon shannon , love the number change by Caulfield , Jonny was his hero as a fellow small hockey player.
Right!
Beautiful gesture by caufield
Watching the CBJ media livestream today made me tear up. Based on some of the ways the guys talked, it is clear that Johnny had a huge impact in the locker room and brought a lot of inspiration, hope, and love to the game.
Really rough watching that. The sadness just rolls on. ✨
@mercywilliams2698 I felt especially bad for Boone. He was here when Kivi passed away, he lost his kid earlier this year, and now he loses one of his best friends 💔
@@yopunkpunkAwww so sad. I was in tears listening to Boone.
Not a local fan but have Cincinnati roots through my mother. Began following the team in 2015 after watching them host All Star game.
I played Womens college hockey in its early times. In my senior year one of my line mates was a Gaudreau. Have wondered in retrospect if she was a family member. Like Johnny’s father Guy she was from Beebee Plains Vt. She mentioned learning to play hockey skating outdoors with her brothers. 🏒🥅🍃✨
The whole team of Blue Jackets will be going to Friday's funeral.
@@ronreinhold8997 My..so hard to process..🏒🦋✨
Some more neat/sad context on CC: Caufield has worn 13 before (USNTDP), and was assigned 22 by Montreal management when he got into the league. Caufield and Gaudreau played together at the 2024 world championships which must've been really impactful for him as he's mentioned Gaudreau as a guy he looks up to. Whether CC keeps 13 after this year or goes back to 22 I think it's beautiful.
Habs and Caufield both announced he will be wearing the number 13 going forward, starting this season. Titles and lines from the team news post as follows: "The Habs forward will be switching from No. 22 to 13 starting this season" and "After playing the first four years of his NHL career as No. 22, moving forward, he will rep No. 13 on the back of his jersey in honor of Gaudreau, who died tragically on August 29 along with his brother, Matthew."
There were some rumours that there were rifts between Kubalik and the other Sens players. When Cezhia played USA, the American Sens Tkachuk, Pinto, and Sanderson were all rlly giving it to Kubalik.
@@FirewagonHockey yeah
RIP JOHNNY HOCKEY! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DID IN HOCKEY AND ALBERTA
Thank you Shannon for showing up for us even when you’re feeling under the weather. Respect Brother.
The one thing that got me when it comes to the whole death of Johnny gaudreau is the fact that they're blood Rivals the Edmonton Oilers their team and City have put up a memorial for him. classy move.
It's the same company, everyone is a coworker and everyone has a decent likelihood of being a prior or future teammate.
Caufield showing how much Johnny Hockey influenced him and honouring him in such a way while saying nothing will the void is extremely classy and a beautiful move. Rest In Paradise Johnny and Matthew🕊🙏🏒
Really proud of Caufield. Great way of honouring Johnny. I'm still in disbelief that all this happened
Feel better Shannon…thank you for everything you’ve done to talk about Johnny for us Columbus fans. 💙❤️
I imagine there will be some sort of Gaudreau commemoration in the week of two Colombus v Calgary games as they are within 5 days of each other.
Yes I am really hoping the Flames bring in and host the whole Guadreau family on December 3 2024
As a non rangers fan I’ve never liked Trouba, and maybe a few weeks ago I would’ve thought it was funny, but now it just seems stupid. It’s not his fault the team gave him that contract. I’m sure he’s just doing his best like every other player in the league. Never thought I’d be defending him but come on, at least his own fans should support him
Going through a brutal grudge match with Covid myself Shannon, and I truly appreciate that you're still putting up content. Get well soon, and sending good vibes from the Island!
You know what would make Ullmark feel comfortable? Poach Swayman 😂
How would they pay him? Idk lol
We need 13km of protected bike lanes around the Saddledome.
We need zero protected bike lanes downtown.
Hope you feel better. Hope the Gaudreau brothers are happy in hockey heaven.
The flames and columbus need to retire #13
Exactly!
Even if they do not officially retire the number, it's hard to imagine another player on those teams wearing #13.
Take it easy!!!! Remember he left Calgary by choice and only played a few seasons in Columbus
I think the Flames will. He wasn't with Columbus long enough, it wouldn't make sense there. #13 is definitely already informally retired for both franchises for the foreseeable future though.
@@LeylaDerben Teams have retired numbers for deceased players even if they didn't play that long for them though.
Hearing that Caulfield is wearing #13 for the habs this year makes me wonder; was that jersey not already retired? If not, pretty lucky he can even do that. It is the Canadiens after all.
13 isn't retired by the Habs. Laine had to change his number because 29 is retired (Ken Dryden), he will be 92 this year.
Max Domi last wore #13 with the Habs.
Who wore #13? I just remember Domi and Cammalari
Get well soon!
Hope you feel better quickly, Shannon!
Rangers fans famously booed defenseman Allan Stanley to the point where the team was forced to trade him. He went on to win four Stanley Cups and have a Hall-of-Fame career. When I tell you he won his four Stanley Cups playing for the Maple Leafs you'll know how long ago that was. In my own youth they gave the same treatment to Rod Seiling. I don't know if it'll work this time because the cheap seats class of Ranger fans has been priced out of Madison Square Garden.
Everyone knows Philadelphia has the worst fans. Not the Flyers, Philadelphia.
I think its smart for the Sens and Ullmark to wait on extension. Better make sure it's the right fit before locking in long-term... I.e. exhitbs A) Matt Murray and B) Korpisalo for why its good to check the fit first.
I would rather the NHL leave any decisions on uniform tribute patches to the teams because the NHL at the league management level always manage to mess things up and they'll probably make it look like a PR stunt. The NHL should let each team decide individually how they will acknowledge the tragedy and it will almost certainly carry more meaning that way.
get well man but big thanks for info and entertainment
Good on Caufield … stand up move
Just an FYI, Habs and Caufield both announced he will be wearing the number 13 going forward, starting this season.
As a Rangers fan, I will NOT be booing Trouba. If he blocked a trade it was probably for good reason, family related possibly. Hope though he can improve his game from last seasons
Get some rest Shannon you really deserve it
As a ranger fan, there really are some of us that are just STUPID
Understandable for Caulfield to do this. A highly skilled player who's size was questioned.
Hope you feel better soon
Definitely should be a patch for the Gaudreau bros for players to wear this year
I hope you feel better soon
Boing someone for not wanting to leave the team is SO cringe!
Boing!!! 😂
Boing!
lol an o fell off
Or maybe it should have been Boeing and the plane fell apart.
They have a right to boo him. He makes 8 million per year, about twice as much as he should.
@@maxratesThat's not his fault.
W move by Staios and Caufield. Ones letting a guy get comfortable and settled after moving to a new country and a new city before talking contracts. The other is returning to an old number to honor his idol and both have the same playstyle.
Well done!!!! feel better.
Wait hold on, Boo a guy for wanting to STAY with the team!?
I have no doubt there will be some dummy idiots in the blue seats booing Trouba all year. Let’s hope the “dedicated fans” cheer for their team more than jeer it. This feels like the biggest barrier between the Rangers and a cup
Like this comment if you wish Shannon to get healthy quickly and find this video majestic.
W move by Caufield
I have an 'XIII' tattooed on my left arm and others in my family have a #13 tattoo as well because my grandmother's number. I held onto it for a long time on Friday.
I am a Rangers fan, and I just want to see Trouba do well. I am not going to boo him (not that I have money to even go to a Rangers game). I just want him to step up more and play more like a captain and first line defenseman.
Had to save up all year just to go to one game last season. Dolan’s are the worst
Forza Ambri!
Nobody batted an eye when PL Dubois changed to #80....ironically from #13
Dhaliwal mentioned yesterday that Demko is back on the ice now so there's slight hope for Canucks fans..
"They aren't saying booooo, they're saying Trooooo".
Great video
W Cole
As a rangers fan, it's customary to absolutely hate the takes of isles and devs fans, but sometimes, actually often it's my fellow fans takes that are absolutely the worst
Of all the reasons for Booing Trouba...Blocking a trade is far far down the list.
Go back to bed! Get better Shannon.
yeah booing Trouba isnt smart. I will not be booing on opening night, you cannot blame one player for the short comings of the entire team.
Strange how wearing someone’s number can be seen both as disrespectful and respectful at the same time
Flames should retire #13 for Johnny Hockey.
God forbid you take a day off, we all might explode.
Real classy, Rangers fans. You deserve Captain Chicken Wing, and he you...
If Tuba wants the fans too like him. He would donate half his remaining salary to The Garden of Dreams Foundation.
ULLMARK!!!!
Rangers fans planning on booing Trouba is honestly such a stereotypical New York fan moment. As the story goes, if they don’t like you in New York, they’ll let you know.
Get better Shannon and Co.
Swayman for Demko?
Keep your head up Jacob, Panther fans still love you.
Take care of yourself, man.
Potentially boing Trouba would be plain stupid. The Rangers signed him, he has the right to block that trade, and the Rangers made him team captain. Boo your management in NYR if anything.
man dont use logic with those ppl, itll never work.
I agree, as a Rangers fan. We can only hope that he plays better this season, booing him isn’t gonna help.
Boing!
@@lunixcaptain boing boing boing meant to write booing 😅
yeah, let's boo a guy for not leaving because his wife and her career are important to him. shame on any of the rangers fans who do this.
once his wife is done her residency, he'll probably agree to a trade. as i understand it, that's in a year.
Go back to bed. There's really bad preseason hockey coming you need to be ready for. :-)
#13
Trouba for nurse!!!!
Edmonton fans are the new Toronto fans.
Ranger fans out here tryin to be Canadien fans.😂
Canucks, sell sell sell.
I think wearing 13 should be purely honorable by everyone. It would be like a "Jackie Robinson Day" type of effect but idk if that would be capable in hockey due to there being more players involved and penalties and whatnot
Ullmark started in Buffalo. Why do I think if you wait until he's comfortable, he's be a UFA again and gone. Caulfield, well personally 13 would have already been my number. That said there are 2 ways to honor someone... wearing their number...Put a Uni up in the locker room to honor it. I have no problem with this. Parking the number takes it out of sight and out of sight is out of mind... boy that really honors. (unless is permanent and in the rafters.. I can see one or both of Columbus/Calgary doing that.)
Both the Flames and Blue Jackets need to retire #13 and raise the banner at their home openers.
Why do you suppose they'd do this sans family?
@@lunixcaptain I don't "suppose" anything. They should invite the family to the ceremony.
I read that 13 was not allowed by Flames organization and they made an exception when Johnny was drafted and requested the number. If that is accurate story..then he is the only player to have worn 13 for Calgary.
I don't wish too be insensitive but everyone still talking about the tragedy of it all which I get 100% and well done for Colefield or it is changing number too 13, but it's curious when Matīss Kivlenieks
Passed away only Merzilkins wore 80 I'm just curious and not trying too be insensitive
11th
It's costly for an NHL player to switch their uniform number.
Finally the Rangers are in a news video... but wait ...no.
As a Sens Fan I can definitely tell you that Kubalik was the worst forward to watch making over $4 Million Dollars in Senators History....move over Colin White.
May I boo Trouba on opening night since I am a Devils fan?.. I will be booing the rest of the Rangers players any way...
Change Byng Trophy to Gaudreau Trophy.
I don't think the boo trouba thing reflects on rangers fans as a whole, as a leafs fan I know very well that every fanbase has a portion of toxic fans 😂. And it's definitely toxic to boo a veteran player for wanting to stay with your team
I think they should rename the lady byng memorial trophy to the Johnny gaudreau memorial trophy. Nothing against the lady byng memorial trophy or its name or it's impact to hockey it's been awarded since 1925 that's almost 100 years and I'm not saying to just get rid of it's legacy just to change the name going forward
Take it easy!! He was a ok hockey player. Just because he passed away let’s re write history? Come on now!!
@@chrisdaddy4637he was a perennial all-star and won the trophy at issue. He finished second to McJesus in scoring and 4th another year. He was a beautiful human. He's the first active NHLer to die in ?
What do you have against goodness, and have your parents been adequately scolded?
@@lunixcaptain he was a great guy I’ll give you that. But this is just ridiculous!! Why does it matter who was the last active player to pass away?
@@chrisdaddy4637 Most of the recent the recent players who have passed away have been between the ages of 45 and 58 Johnny gaudreau has died at the age of 31 his impact on the sport has been immeasurable and he has two fanbases one of which he doesn't even play for anymore mourning the loss of a great friend and colleague there has not been a death like this for over 30 years the last time a death like this had occurred a trophy was almost renamed. Not to mention Johnny gaudreau had achieved all these accolades At the height of 5'9 back when the average height of an NHL player was 6'2 and hundreds of players who were extremely talented we're not being drafted due to their size the Calgary flames took a risk on a fourth-round pick for Johnny gaudreau who at the time was expected never to play for Calgary he ended up playing that very next season winning The Calder
Not in favor of renaming the trophy, even if he was the most wholesome player to ever put on skates.
The Trouba situation isn’t half as awkward as the Leafs situation
What situation?
@@Ben.Mangels what do you mean? They just went through pretty much the same thing giving the C to Matthews. Now JT is just lingering around until he’s gone. Just like Trouba
@@chrisdaddy4637 Trouba still has the C. JT willingly gave it to Matthews. I could definitely see Tavares resigning it Toronto, too.
@@Ben.Mangels Trouba is going to get stripped and sent out of town. JT got stripped and is currently being shipped out of town. Both will be traded this season, probably soon!
@@chrisdaddy4637 JT has a no trade clause, and his contract is not super appealing. I wouldn't call what happened with JT getting stripped, as he seemed very supportive of it happening.
All for Booing Trouba and Panarin they are both overpaid buns
I’m a ranger fan since the 80s. Booing him at the beginning of the season is idiotic and can’t help anything. Won’t boo Trouba unless he sucks for the first 15 games. Then all bets are off
Trouba needs to give the C and no they shouldn’t boo him
Cause he shouldn’t even be in the lineup, this is business and trades happen. He needs to abide by his contract whatever that means.
He has every right to block a trade.
@@Ben.Mangels how do you figure, when it’s a modified 15 team no trade. Read the rule book.
Jordan Harris chose #22 in Columbus because of his friend Cole Caufield, Caufield changed for #13 in honor of Johnny Hockey!!
