Hi great vids, I find watching very relaxed and informative. I dont get good results with airlink so not sure if I'm using it right, had to cable up my quest 2 to get the best results, yours looks smooth and no juddering. Thanks for sharing 👍
Until they fix the very broken engine/culling/rendering in odyssey, VR will not be smooth without massive hardware to make up. When it is fixed up however, I expect we will see great things. The question is, when. But, I am patient. Frontier will fix this.
I know this is a couple years old and I really loved it, but I’m brand new in VR. Basic question - are you to d/l EDO through Steam ? The reason I ask is I’ve been researching and there are some like MSFS, that should be played and d/l’ed sans Steam. It appears to be a FPS thing and OpenXR. I’m not sure, but I don’t think EDO is native OpenXR. Just basic stuff to point me in the right direction ! Thanks !!
Hi James, I use SteamVR to play lots of titles including MSFS and Elite Dangerous and I've never had FPS issue. To be fair, I hear people say all the time that they get bad frames using Steam, but that has never been my experience.
Hi Christian. This video was made the day Odyssey launched over 9 months ago and since then has had a number of updates that greatly improved framerates and stability, especially in the on foot department. However, the "flat screen while on foot" situation will probably never be changed as it would take a complete overhaul and reprogramming of the current game. And honestly it's not that hard to get used to it. Admittedly, I don't do a lot of on foot combat so your results may vary. Thanks for watching!
I play VR with a HOTAS. What happens once I leave the ship and cant use it, if I dont have any other controller? Do I somehow have to revert to keyboard? If so, I'd have to revert to normal Monitor and 2D as obviously I cant see the keyboard with the VR headset on. Would I have to log out and log back in to do that?
You should be able to map your on-foot controls to your HOTAS. It might be a little awkward, but it will work. you could also switch to keyboard and mouse while on foot, but this is not a good option in VR trying to find the right keys. And yes, to switch from VR to flat monitor you will have to exit the game and relaunch it. Thanks for watching!
Hi Zoltan, when connecting your Quest2 to a PC via Airlink or a USB3 cable locks you in at 90hz at the moment. For simplicities sake, I used the "VR ultra" graphics preset and didn't mess with the settings. A lot of the settings in Elite only affect the monitor output, and not the headset output, but I use 1.25 supersampling. Hope this helped, Thanks for watching!
I loved all your shorts on screen. Mostly the Futurama ones. But as you should expect, "It is barely an inconvenience" wins them all! Great work!

I want to play Elite Dangerous VR, but all I get is a flat screen on the Desktop, and it's like a cinema screen.
Airlink? epic version?
@@FhargaZ I fixed it with Steam VR.
Amazing ?
The on foot flat screen really sucks !
This video is the most recent result to my search.
As it improved since ?

Hello. What Oculus settings do you play with 75hz? What are the graphics settings for the game, I mean supersample or hdmi?
