I like this detachment because it allows you to use those situational blessings whenever now. Like ive had games where one squad couldve really used lethals or sustained but the rest of my army needed that feel no pain and fight on death. So now you pick those specific blessings where they’re needed and still have those army wide ones go off.
Yeah this is not to be underestimated. If I gave everyone sustained but only my berserkers need lethals because they’re fighting a tank, and only my exalted need FnP because they’re fighting scorpeks… now I can do it. This is such a great detachment rule
@ for me it was fnp the whole game every turn but the lethals and sustained were situational for me so its nice i can throw just that blessing on the fight i need it most
Also means that you can give advance and charge to the units that need/can use it without needing to commit for the whole army, pretty good first turn to give the ones scout moving the first turn charge combo without giving up the damage boost or the defensive ones (especially if you go second).
Bloodsurge for Berserkers is if you have a model destroyed. The strategem references lost wounds. Can be applicable for Berserkers if you still have a full squad but took a wound.
Nothing is different compared to the base detachment other than it trading 2 attacks for 1 extra ap and losing point of damage when it's not a part of a chosen unit. It doesn't benefit from aspire to infamy since it's a character. It's objectively worse, as is the whole detachment.
This is a crusade detachment 100%, match play will still be running Angron and ditching Daemon Princes. Vessels of Wrath heavily incentivizes you to ditch Angron and Take worthless DP's, who also suck in this detachment because they lose a very NEEDED +1S on the charge.
I think I like this one more than the Index because the Index has a couple of Stratagems based on Battle Shock and getting 2-4 Super Units sounds sick. Enhancements are throw away points for the fight on death to pretty good for the rest. Worse case you bring max Demon Princes and have them acting as suped up beat sticks.
This detachment looks tailor made for crusade and smaller games where getting tabled by vehicles isn't as likely and Angron is otherwise your only answer to a backline T11 unit.. I'm disappointed that it seems to lean into taking a foot prince though since the foot prince just isn't quite good enough yet
@Grooviebones i love my foot prince. In 2k games I run 2 of them to linger around eightbound for the 4++. What they lack in damage they make up for in making things survive. Players have to choose between the eightbound and him. Certainly isn't the best, but I find it works well enough to continue doing and changes up the army list a little.
@ButchersNailsEnjoyer This is incorrect. You pick one blessing that's active for the vessels. It says you can select the same type of model IE multiple squads of a unit.
amazing stuff, especially if you are not running Angron, which I do. He is too RNG imo, so i play without him and have a better time with demon princes and more infantry.
6:28 I'm not sure on the verbiage of "subtract 1 from the Wound roll instead". Wouldn't the subtraction of 1 be already applied? Why mention the wrathful devotion then? I'm confused on this one
My biggest issue with this detachment is it has 0 future proofing, so either it will need to be re-written or it’s suggestive of a very large concern that World Eaters aren’t getting more models in 10th.
These are online only so very easy to update it in the future… besides by having it affect characters we can give access to any new infantry squads so long as they can be lead by something (and red butchers will probably replace terminators anyway so they are covered even without a terminator character). Besides this looks like a infantry detachment and outside of red butchers we aren’t really expecting much in the way of non character infantry to be added, and what little we have predicted/asked for prob wasn’t meant to use this detachment anyway so shouldn’t be a big loss if they just can’t use this detachment.
@@jamesygamesy5124 Mostly yeah, but if their bodyguards die or you ever want to run them on their own, they're excluded for no obvious reason. Like, if the intent was to exclude specifically Angron, why doesn't it just say "excluding Angron"?
I think this will thrive more in smaller game modes like King of the Colosseum and combat patrol. Mostly 1k and below games. Might just have to see how it affects larger games.
It seems like a "Not angron" detachment... It could have been awesome if it includes Epic Heroes and it Sure is useable .. but i am Not sure, if i want to give Up "Berserker glave" "brass helmet" "Favorite of Khorne" and the auto advance 6....
I feel the sticky strat is much more useful than the index one, but other than that the detachment seems worse. Armywide, my weapon math gets worse, for one squad to be slightly better when I need it? No thanks. Eightbound have enough movement to generally get to where they are needed in one turn if I need to punch up. The only way this detachment is better is if you never charge and bloodsurge into every combat. Which given the blood surge strat might be what was intended?
I'm genuinely confused as to why people think this is good. I've played more World Eaters than any other army for 10th, and this looks like a straight up downgrade, trading your ability to actually kill enemy units for picking the buffs you want for a few units. You're losing 6-12 damage per unit, before sustained, just by playing this over the base detachment, not to mention throwing important breakpoints out the window. I expect this to get abandoned quickly.
Because against many matchups WE units will already horrifically overkill most targets, so guaranteed advance and charge / +2 move is very powerful. Tbh I think it's a sidegrade.
Ya beserkers are losing a lot of math breaking points on the charge, but gaining only one unit can reroll wounds. I do think this sticky strat is better than the index one, which Auspex said otherwise. Generally if I lose a unit they are in combat, or are one movement phase away from being in combat, so sticking an objective where they died is generally useless. Being able to wipe a squad and then move off the objective seems way better... but that is the only positive I can see
i think the detachment looks cool, but its less punchy since no woundroll + 1 and the charge bonus is missing. though it might hint on juggernaut units for world eater since they have no mounted unit ,yet. Except for iinvocatus and the lord.
To me it's disappointing. Basically your just gonna see eightbound spam and maybe termie spam but the termies are old models so im guessing that's just them hoping to sell old models before red butchers come out lol
You just get to choose a 3rd blessing regardless of the roll So even if you get a poor roll you can still select one of the strong blessings on up to 3 units in a 2k point game
No you don't. The rule just says pick an inactive blessing absolutely no reference to your blessing roll in fact it activates after you finish with the blessings roll so there's no dice to pick from anymore anyway
