It's the hand sculpted aspect. Modern digital sculpting certainly allows for more detail and ease of creation, but the charm and soul of the models isn't really there.
Absolutely, there was definitely a power in the minis hand sculpted in the old days. New models have all the bells and whistles but, lack substance and ring hallow. The modern Chaplin models lack any of that intensity
@@Anubarak313For some reason though, a lot of digitally made sculpts look less detailed and more "blocky" for some reason. I haven't seen many digital sculpts that has the same level of intricacy as hand sculpted models. What I find hand sculpted models aren't as good at is consistency if proportions (some space marines look smaller or bigger than others). But I think that's forgivable.
Two uploads in the same week. What a christmas gift! Always loved Blood Angels chaplains too. Strap some jump packs onto him and the death company and watch them go to town on the enemy. 😄
Somtime minis where held back for second release batches, for example half the Imperial Guard sculpts for each faction in 2nd ed in the IG Codex got a release when the Hell Hound and Basilisk came out months after the first releases.
I'm just about to paint an interrogator Chaplain I kit bashed out of the Terminator Chaplain from the Dark Angels Christmas battle box and I'm eating up every thing I can about painting black on account of the ICC and the Lion of course as well. This is truly a delight and a great reference. Thanks again.
So satisfying when you complete a project. My favourite was painting all the OG necromunda metal gangs. 6 Gangs with as many of the models as I could find.
While I love the chaplains with the skull helmets, this is probably one of my favorite models ever. I got one on EBay, new in package, for like 35 USD. A hecking steal, if you ask me. And I LOVE him. Probably my favorite mini... Until I got Epistolary 2.
I just got this exact mini but it has a plasma pistol and is joining my crimson fists buy this video now works both as entertainment and a guide for the amour.
Freddy Mercury would be proud. I'm sure he's smiling from Slannesh's eternal Warp party in the Eye of Terror. Now I can't stop hearing "We are the Chaplains; WE ARE THE CHAPLAINS; No time for Xenos 'cause we are the Chaplaiiiiinnnnssss.... "
Great stuff as always. Thanks for all the vids and fun this year so glad you got to finish that starter set dream. Also a neat punchy song on this one. :)
My Christmas present. Cheers, Mathew! That supremacy force is looking amazeballs and I cannot wait to see what the new year brings! All the best to ya pal!
You know what I’m going to say… Chaplain, Space marine Chaplain, Chaplain of the Space Marines, Imperial Fist, Space Marines of the Imperial Fist, Imperial Fist Space Marines…
Spacedcrusader is a real one because of his 2nd edition style primaris ultramarines i'm your fan today and also i paint 2nd edition style ultramarines. i love this hobby so much
Great video as always Matthew. Love that death company chaplain- one of my favourite models ever and got that set for Christmas in the 90s. Have a nice Christmas sir!
Greetings and Salutations! Congrats on finishing your project! I have two of this generation; the one called Chaplain 2 in the catalog and the Blood Angels one. My first Chaplain was a conversion from the RTB01 kit. Seasons Greetings and all the best to you and yours. Billi.
Nice paintjob as always man it's so nice seeing imperial fistage and not smurfs ALL the time :D Never bought this guy, because to this day I suck at proper faces lol. 5:49, far left is the one I have and only reason I have that one, is because I could NEVER find the one next to the one you have on that page XD. Also got the old AND "new" metal termie chaplans, both versions were great models but the newer one's pose was so damn good.
That Chaplin came out in 1995. way back when the figures really started to get the improvement of being just single clone minis. Go give that Chaplin a Jump Pack. They need it!
I stumbled upon your channel a few months ago having never played 2nd edition. Today, I purchased my first 2nd edition tactical squad, it even comes free with a few layers on decade old paint! I also picked up a very hansom metal tech marine, did you do a painting video for yours? Cant wait for them to turn up. Just working my way through your videos to get a paint list together as I'm painting them as Ultramarines. (unless someone has a modern day GW list that our humble host uses?). Love the channel!
Great figure and a wonderful force of marines, finally got round to painting a battle company of primaris ultramarines to go with the seven battle companies iv done since rtb01 came out, listened to the song at the end and even hitting my knee repeatedly with a large hammer I was forced to listen to the end.
One of my favorite models of all time. Also, I knew I had the WD where the Space Marine Chaplain was released. It’s my first WD of all time, 179. The one with the Imperator Titan on the front.
Brilliant model!, Brilliant vid! And a freaking awesome Chaplin song! ❤ . Merry Christmas mate, thanks for keeping that old school 40k vib alive. I'm looking forward to more bitchin videos in 25. 🎄👍
You know I my self converted a retro Chaplin early this year it’s based off the old metal death company marines and is equipped with a primaries chain sword turned crosius I even sculpted cheek bones on the helmet.
Ah second edition, it was a glorius time. It was the era of HeroHammer, where each force was led by group of heroes who could demolish much of the enemy force on their own.
Watching these videos makes me wanting to get some old minis to make one unit with character. Older minis have so much charm!

Christmas Eve upload is perfect
two uploads on the same week, truly we are blessed brothers
Yes we are 😜
12:04 thanks for the shoutout Instagram buddy! I can’t wait to to see what you do next year.
Also this is was almost your best end song so far.
You are most welcome. The project wouldn't have been complete without you.
Great painting and hilarious end song, it is now part of my mind canon as what the space marines shout when a chaplain arrives.
😁
Nothing better than sitting down to another relaxing Miniscape video!
That's very kind.
@@Miniscape-wh40k Nothing but the Truth!
Two uploads in the same week. What a christmas gift!
Always loved Blood Angels chaplains too.
Strap some jump packs onto him and the death company and watch them go to town on the enemy. 😄
As someone who likes to paint chaplains (dark angels so like to have more) on Christmas, I find this fitting
Somtime minis where held back for second release batches, for example half the Imperial Guard sculpts for each faction in 2nd ed in the IG Codex got a release when the Hell Hound and Basilisk came out months after the first releases.
Fair enough

I hope it helps.
0:45 "You're here for the minis" and the songs! Definitely the songs too!
🥰
@Miniscape-wh40k great work as always and Merry Christmas!
@MrDaveyboy1985 ☃️
It’s a Christmas Miracle!
He's our Chaplain! Smashing skulls and yelling litanies 😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you for this festive content.
13:10 definitely what the Space Marines chant during Battle with him XD
Best way to pass the time at work. Thanks for that dude.
You're welcome 🤗
Looks awesome! Love how the whole force looks fully assembled together!
Got this chaplain as my second ever mini 4 years ago from ebay, never knew it was from 2nd until today
So satisfying when you complete a project. My favourite was painting all the OG necromunda metal gangs. 6 Gangs with as many of the models as I could find.
Woooo 👌
this one also gives the "GET OFF MY LAWN" energy (chaplains are my favorite)
I see what you mean
That free hand banner detail looks exactly like the sticker sheet. Well done
Very kind of you
The thing, he said the thing!!!!
What thing? 🤣
Amazing video, and loved the song! Well done on completing such a rad hobby bucket list project!!!
Whooo happy Christmas! These Fists are legendary, ho ho ho.
Last time I was this early the 16th legion was still called Luna Wolves.
Thank you for these videos, really taking me back. Your supremacy force looks great.
Thank you
Seeing you build and paint the army inspired me to finally start mine. Getting in the post next month some Steel Legion minis!
Woop
Well this is a happy little gift. Cheers.
🤩

Matt it is such a joy to see your happiness with the hobby!!
Yet another wonderful video. Thank you so much for your awesome content
My pleasure!
Well done, those box sets were pawed over in WDs. Love the uplifting inspiration song, visions of the emperor's finest showing no mercy.
I always avoided faces back when I was painting because I was horrible at them.
Fine chap Charlie Chaplain chappin' away!
I always think these metal sculpts look messy but that makes the finished product even more special in my humble opinion. 🔥🔥🔥
I just got this exact mini but it has a plasma pistol and is joining my crimson fists buy this video now works both as entertainment and a guide for the amour.
Crazy how cheap were some models in old catalogs. If only they cost same today.
I love listning to old while painting new!, amazing content all around.
Really enjoyed all your videos this year. Happy Christmas and excited to see what's coming in 2025!
I simply love this channel. It’s inspiring. Don’t worry about self doubt mate. Your painting is great!
I didn't know I needed a Space Marine Chaplain rendition of Queen. Until now. Good work.
You did need it 😍
Great stuff as always. Thanks for all the vids and fun this year so glad you got to finish that starter set dream. Also a neat punchy song on this one. :)
Thanks for the long time support 😁
Your videos are so soothing. You're fulfilling my juvenile fantasies of owning and painting these awesome minis
Glad you like them 😀 but if you don't mind, I prefer not to be part of anyone's juvenile fantasies 😜
Definitely saved the best for last with this one, awesome work on this chaplain!
Looking forward to the next video already! Cheers!
I love your dry narrative tone (and the songs at the end just get better and better👌🏼)
🥰

Great video as always Matthew. Love that death company chaplain- one of my favourite models ever and got that set for Christmas in the 90s. Have a nice Christmas sir!
Man what a song. Probably my Interrogator Chaplain in Terminator Armor, Enochran Tain’s new anthem. Merry Christmas
Your song game is on fire. Great stuff. Merry Christmas.
I've loved watching these. Keep it up dude!
Merry Christmas!

Beautiful work as usual. Happy holidays.
The chaplain song was amazing!
😍
The Chaplain is a power house in combat. Especially the mighty hero one.
Glorious work!
Merry Christmas and thanks for the great content brother keep up the amazing work!
Been a bit since I watched... the ending caught me off guard! *XD*

One of my favorite models of all time. Also, I knew I had the WD where the Space Marine Chaplain was released. It’s my first WD of all time, 179. The one with the Imperator Titan on the front.
In the US version, it’s mentioned on p.5 with the releases, as well as the catalog on p.72.
Thank you. I clearly missed it.
Would so love to see you do a detatchment of Legion of the Damned, next year Xmas list I guess
Well done chap 👏
This was probably my favorite marine mini when I first started in 3rd edition. Until I kitbashed my own chaplain to lead my Templars, of course. ;)
Legion of the dammed shout out woop woop love these videos so much 😅
Oh you like th idea of the chaplain made into a Legion O the Damned Command as well?
Good man!
Great work. Looking forward to more battle reports foe 2nd edition
More implies I have already done one 😂

🤩 thanks
@ may I add sir, this episode song is the bomb!! Haha so good man so good
@malevolencemotorsports8361 you're in the elite 10% that like my songs
Merry Christmas Matt, from Australia. A Bike Chaplain would fit in well with your Fists
You know I my self converted a retro Chaplin early this year it’s based off the old metal death company marines and is equipped with a primaries chain sword turned crosius I even sculpted cheek bones on the helmet.
Haha, the first words that came to mind as I saw the upload notification were “Chaplain, Space Marine Chaplain”
It's now my head-canon that Freddie Mercury's voice was saved on an STC and that Imperial Fists chant his songs before battle.
Ha
Merry Christmas to all.
By the Emperor, may everyone have a great day.
I am so excited to start my own 2nd edition army. My girlfriend bought me a necron lord. So excited to get it when it comes in
Yay
Not to be confused with a Space Marine Chaplin, who is more of a tramp comedian with an unfortunate moustache.
HE'S OUR CHAPLAIN!
