Both the pick and the Aiyuk pass were just great defensive plays. The pick was tipped in an excellent play by the d-lineman. The "overthrow" is a tough one. The lions defender absolutely bumped Aiyuk enough to throw him off the route and earn a flag. The announcers said the flag was picked up because he was able to "make a play." @@DangleSan Some fans think the flag was only picked up because it was a completion, and I agree with you that's inconsistent with how games are usually called. HOWEVER, the ball was thrown ahead of both the DB and the receiver. There is no way that the DB needs to slow down and interfere with the receiver in order to play the ball in those circumstances. He should have been running ahead to where the ball was thrown and waited for it.
@@viclange3826 He didn't slow down watch the play again the DB is looking up at the ball Brandon runs into him, In the NFL rule book it's what's called incidental contact, It's a play that looks like pass interference but it's not because both players happened to bump into each other, The flag was not picked up because of the catch that's delusional 40 niner fan talk
@@DangleSan Ok, I watched the play again, it's true that Aiyuk ran into the DB - because the DB had his hands out to push off of him. Yes, he was looking for the ball, but that contact is intentional, not incidental. In fact, if his hands hadn't been so busy pushing off of Aiyuk, he probably could have gotten them up to catch that ball he was supposedly playing in time.
The contact was incidental, thats why the flag got picked up. Contact was a result of the defender making a play on the ball. Brock admits in the post game interview that he threw it bc he thought they needed a big play and he saw aiyuk 1 on 1. It wasn't really an overthrow, it was a calculated risk. It was a well placed ball, the defender was in the right spot and used his body well, but in the end aiyuk made an amazing catch.
@3:07 Nick says "overthrown" but that ball wasn't overthrown, BA got block by the defender while running the route which is why the ref threw a flag thinking it was a PI. Ball was prefect. BA got stop in route.
The best part of this will be Monday morning FTF after Brock defeats Maholmes in the SB. They're going to need to do welfare check on Nick Wright if that happens.
Not a niners fan but as Nick says I "watch the games" and I couldn't understand the Brock Purdy hate. Love to see him ballin helps my arguments w my buddies 😂
Yes, the interception wasn't great, but Brock Purdy was not the reason the 49ers were down 24-7 at the half. The Defense just could not stop the Lions. Whether the 49ers win or lose the Superbowl, Steve Wilkes' seat is on fire right now. When you have that much firepower on the Niners' defense (yes, including the shaky secondary), the only person who can fail is the DC.
I don't understand how no one, no matter what show it is, has realized that the play that bounced off the CB's helmet was still a Defensive Pass Interference. So no matter what happened if it was picked off it was still gonna be a first down because the flag was thrown on the defence, the icing on the cake was that Aiyuk caught it
It’s so sad that they try to spin it so that no one else can do what Mahomes does, otherwise it’s an “ ill advised throw”. It really speaks to their lack of credibility.
In J.T. Osullivan's latest QB school video on Purdy - at minute 48 about, he says regarding Purdy's scrambling "If you're surprise, you just never watched the film". It's like I said, Nick Wright only watches highlights...
Had Brock Purdy not gotten injured in the nfc title game, the 49ers would be going for TWO STRAIGHT super bowl championships. Cause SF would have crushed KC last year. They were clearly the best team in football last year, just like they've been the clear best team in football all This year.
The so called lucky pass Purdy threw was a choice he made based upon the following: 1. Aiyuk would likely win a jump ball with a single db. 2. If the db got the pick the play would amount to a punt. The catch was not lucky. A tremendously athletic play by an All Pro receiver.
9ers have had the best overall team for years but have always lacked in the most important position qb, now we have a qb decent enough to compliment the boat the 9ers have
A toddler could run through the niners defense yesterday and put Purdy in a position where he had to make plays or they’re all going home. He’s not Mahomes but he will battle you to the end.
Nick... that ball to Aiyuk was not overthrown... the pass interference held Aiyuk up and the fact you refuse to either see or recognize that is why you are not good at your job.
Look at the whole route. Notice the thrown flag? The defender cut Ayuk off and altered his path shortly before the ball arrived, that's why he was in a better position to catch it.
Instead of criticizing Brock why aren't you talking about the defense who got cooked the last two games in the first half or maybe the 49ers inconsistent kicker??? You guys are so quick to jump on Mahomes jock but you said it yourself with the stats Chiefs defense has showed up in the playoffs that benefits Mahomes and the offense greatly. 49ers defense didn't do them any favors whatsoever to start the Lions and Packers game, yet Brock stood in there and managed the game and led the team to a comeback victory not once but twice.
You mean the “overthrow” that was defensive pass interference called on because the DB stopped and impeded the receivers route? It is not an overthrow when your guy gets pushed backwards to stop him from getting to the ball
Doc Purdy gives off a little Brady, he’s still young, only a 2nd year guy, the bar for him is so high for what ?!?! He’s still learning but he’s getting it done cannot deny that. So poised
I also think Campbell saw the flow of the game at that point, knew his defense wasn't stopping the 49ers anymore, and I feel he knew he needed to get to a number, such as 38, to have a shot at winning.
Nick keeps saying Purdy played horrible in the 1st half and had a ton of mistakes. Not true. Yes, he had a pick but the major reason they were down was defense, not Brock. He had the pick because he was making up for the defense getting ran over. They gave up an opening TD after just 4 plays and another quick drive for a TD before his pick. It was clear at that point the defense was having problems brock was not the problem in this game.
Dan Campbell is about to earn a new nickname die hard Dan they are about to make a new movie called die hard five starring, Bruce Willis and Dan Campbell 😂😂😂
That bomb to Aiyuk looked over thrown only because the DB got into Aiyuk's path obstructing him, and slowed him down. Hence, the yellow flag was thrown for defensive pass interference. Yet, Aiyuk still caught it bouncing off the DB's helmet which nullifies the DPI.
Very Intelligent guy - BrockPurdy. He built his confidence and knowledge during four years as a starter at Iowa State. Purdy threw for thousands of yards and 100 TDs. He learned about the secrets of the game, the organized football. Purdy plays with his mind and figures out how the game is going. He makes adjustments. He makes quick decisions and now we know he can use his legs too. Mahones is a talent guy. Purdy is clever and high I Q
Heard this stupid comment on multiple shows already, figures Nick would chime in with it. Purdy did not 'bounce a pass off a DBs helmet" there was DPI...AND THEN...the ball bounced off his helmet. It was never an INT.
The touchdown pass. That block through. Off the guy's helmet was a perfect pass in stride , but the receiver was slowed up and Bumped by the defense., How can you not see that
The long pass off the guys face mask was on target. You see Aiyuk gets bump by the corner than he slows down and the db keeps going if Aiyuk keeps fighting it would’ve been a jump ball situation
btw Nick is wrong when he says Purdy is the weakest link on the 49ers team. Everyone knows including sports analysts and especially Kyle Shanahan, that the right side of the Offensive line is the weakest link on the 49ers. Purdy was No.1 in almost all QBR. The offensive line ranked No.22. THAT's the weakest link!
The Purdy “overthrow”, when are these people going to acknowledge Aiyuk was illegally bumped by the DB (which there was a PI flag) and that slowed him down. If there’s no PI the ball would have been in the right spot.
A point many have missed on the Aiyuk catch is there was a PI called on the defender. Without the PI, maybe that ball is right on Aiyuk for a TD in stride. As it is, that ball was only about 2 feet out of Aiyuk's reach. I do agree that he got away with one on the Jennings catch. It was a similar play the other direction that was the nail for Green Bay last week.
Check out the What’s Wright? with Nick Wright podcast: sprtspod.fox/WhatsWright_YT
Purdy didn't overthrow that ball to BA. The defender stopped and took BA off his spot, also would have been called a PI but ref picked up the flag.

@@thejuniors5345no one ever said that. but if Mr Irrelevant beats a top 3 QB ever, someone will eventually make a doc about it
I hate that Nick brought that Aiyuk catch up like it wasnt a Pass Interference that was called and declined because of the catch. And then he can hardly give Purdy credit but if Trey Lance did this, he would spit bubbles on it😂😂
That pass was not overthrown, contact with the defender slowed aiyuk down a step. I wished guys like wright actually understood what they were looking at.
that was 1st and goal at the 4 whether he caught it or not
The same guy who said geno smith was better than Brock Purdy 😂🤡 sure doesn’t sound like he knows anything about what real
Corner basically jammed him 35 yards down the field & prevented BA from getting there. Neither Mahomes nor Lamar had a completion that traveled 40 yards on Sunday. Brock Purdy did
Oh! They understand…..It just doesn’t fit the “hate on Brock” narrative being pushed! Where is the mention that this is SECOND SEASON? If you want to be honest, he is essentially a rookie, not having a full season last year. He is still learning the NFL and is kill’n it! I sooooo hope he has the game of his career in 2 weeks and that they shut down Mahommmey . For NO other reason than I want to see Nick GROVEL! First off the 49ers weakness is OLine. Purdy was constantly under pressure or having to move around/scramble.
2nd his pick was shown the defender literally hit the ball as he released it. 3rd the bounce off helmet play was also PI. Defender pushed off and slowed Ayiuk, so we can’t really say it was bad or overthrown because Ayiuk might have been in position to catch it if not for push off. Either way huge play and swing.

Hey Nick, that bounced pass was due to defensive pass interference when Aiyuk got pushed on the chest to slow him down. That is why there was a freaking flag on the play. The flag got picked up by the ref since he ended up catching the pass.
Because its not part of his narrative. Also, nobody mentions that the INT was tipped by one of the D-line which affected the throw.
His luck will run out. You’re not playing against Dan gamble anymore. The chief’s defense are not going for that bs

Purdy called a bank shot just before he threw the ball off the defender's mask, so it's all good.
Apparently that was pass interference by the defender, so the ball would have ended up there anyway. o
Some players shrink in the moment and others shine. Purdy isn’t the great talent that other guys in the league are but he doesn’t shrink in the moments that matter. Niners defense said it best after the game. They don’t win the last two games without Purdy stepping up when it mattered most.
Both the pick and the Aiyuk pass were just great defensive plays. The pick was tipped in an excellent play by the d-lineman. The "overthrow" is a tough one. The lions defender absolutely bumped Aiyuk enough to throw him off the route and earn a flag. The announcers said the flag was picked up because he was able to "make a play." So whether he picks it or not, it was a great play by the defender, not a mistake by purdy.
It also would have been pass interference if Aiyuk didn't catch it.
I'm not sure Nick will ever give Purdy the luv he deserves!😢
He’ll have to if he repeats what he did in the 2nd half against Detroit when they play KC and wins a title. Otherwise all of his credibility is gone
"deserves?" Where does Purdy honestly rank amongst all NFL starting QBs?
@@fray3dendsofsanity Outside of a couple of good scrambles in the 2nd half against Detroit, Purdy has been undebatably TERRIBLE in the playoffs so far.
Purdy has done so well under pressure, best passer rating when rushed. Can’t imagine what he’ll do if he eventually gets a solid offensive line!
I’m rooting for the 49’ers just so I hopefully don’t have to see swifts face every time the chiefs do something.
We can’t discuss aiyuk getting bumped on that deep pass? That flag stands if he drops or it gets picked. Come on now.
It was incidental contact the DB was ahead of Brandon and they bumped into each other going for the ball, Most niner fans like you didn't notice cause you were so hype about the catch but the referees gathered deliberated picked up the flag and announced that there was no call for defensive past interference on the play
Defensive Past interference 100% that was a flag for
@@DangleSan Some fans think the flag was only picked up because it was a completion, and I agree with you that's inconsistent with how games are usually called.
Nick is banking on the "I TOLD YOU SO!!!" moment and he will continue to move the goal post until he gets it.
people calling the play to aiyuk lucky are completely forgetting that they threw a flag for pi but picked it up because aiyuk caught it.

They pick up DPI flags if the receiver catches it?

What is Nick talking about..
1. The INT was deflected
2. The Ayuik play wasn’t “such a bad overthrow”… it was a PI
Yup
Even if Aiyuk doesn't catch that, it was still dpi.
Chiefs without omenihu. As a niner fan who loved him with our team. That is a huge loss to the chiefs.
I don't understand how no one, no matter what show it is, has realized that the play that bounced off the CB's helmet was still a Defensive Pass Interference. So no matter what happened if it was picked off it was still gonna be a first down because the flag was thrown on the defence, the icing on the cake was that Aiyuk caught it
interesting how they praise mahomes for "getting away with it"throws, which mahomes had almost an identical throw.
It’s so sad that they try to spin it so that no one else can do what Mahomes does, otherwise it’s an “ ill advised throw”. It really speaks to their lack of credibility.
Let's go Wildes!
You know it's scripted because Nick always gets one right and Bru always gets one right
Purdy has shown time and time again that he isn't a game manager, he is the CEO.

Love Eric on this show
The so called lucky pass Purdy threw was a choice he made based upon the following:
1. Aiyuk would likely win a jump ball with a single db.
2. If the db got the pick the play would amount to a punt.
The catch was not lucky. A tremendously athletic play by an All Pro receiver.
0:02 seconds and u know no credit of coming from Nick for the game won by purdy .
These guys have the best chemistry in this space. It's a fkn good vibe they've got going on.
Mahomes is 0-2 in the playoffs against QBs who were drafted in the sixth round or after
The 51 yard completion was a PI...come on man...either way they get 40+ yards
Brock did what the others they call elite haven’t. Period!
9ers have had the best overall team for years but have always lacked in the most important position qb, now we have a qb decent enough to compliment the boat the 9ers have
A toddler could run through the niners defense yesterday and put Purdy in a position where he had to make plays or they’re all going home. He’s not
Mahomes but he will battle you to the end.
Sad but true
What's next goal post for Purdy? TD from the Moon?
Nick... that ball to Aiyuk was not overthrown... the pass interference held Aiyuk up and the fact you refuse to either see or recognize that is why you are not good at your job.
Purdy is so great that he hit that dude in the helmet so his receiver could catch the ball 😁
Look at the whole route. Notice the thrown flag? The defender cut Ayuk off and altered his path shortly before the ball arrived, that's why he was in a better position to catch it.
He is about to be paid as one of the best QBs. Well deserved young man.
Cause this gets engagement & these clowns are paid to generate clicks; not talk seriously about the game in any detail
Purdy is definitely not the Niners weakest link. That would be the secondary and the rush defense based off yesterday.
And the right side of the O-line. But the Run D in particular was terrible. Lions RB’s are insanely good though. Gibbs is a stud
Add Ambry Thomas to the weak link as well.
@@fray3dendsofsanity what you think Pacheco is going to do? He is a dawg
Imagine if Purdy gets a good oline like Brady and mahomes 😮
You mean the “overthrow” that was defensive pass interference called on because the DB stopped and impeded the receivers route? It is not an overthrow when your guy gets pushed backwards to stop him from getting to the ball
I love that Nick now wants to give Brock Purdy credit just so when Mahomes beat him he can go pretty good quarterback did he beat?
Surprisingly nuanced and measured take by coach
Doc Purdy gives off a little Brady, he’s still young, only a 2nd year guy, the bar for him is so high for what ?!?! He’s still learning but he’s getting it done cannot deny that. So poised
Any 49ers deathly afraid the SB will come down to a Field goal and Moody will miss it.
Nah. I’d be more afraid of the zebras phantom play calling. As we all know, KC gets favoritism when it comes to penalties or no calls.
@@TheAnonymous916 Yeah that too

I also think Campbell saw the flow of the game at that point, knew his defense wasn't stopping the 49ers anymore, and I feel he knew he needed to get to a number, such as 38, to have a shot at winning.
and Brock is the 3rd youngest QB to go to a SB. He's only 2nd year. He will get better. This is the floor.
A team is only as strong as their weakest link. If that's Purdy, that's a pretty good team

He had a historical 2nd half in the NFC title game and he’s the weakest link Nick? Not the defense that gave up 24 points in the first half? SMH
That Aiyuk deep ball was a dot. There was a DPI on that play that bumped Aiyuk. How is he an analyst??? Is that not a simple observation?
Nick isnt an analyst though. Plus his shtick is to discredit Purdy and the Niners to fullest extent lol
Agree with Nick on running at the goal.
Dan Campbell is about to earn a new nickname die hard Dan they are about to make a new movie called die hard five starring, Bruce Willis and Dan Campbell 😂😂😂
The 9ers defense was the reason they were down early nick smh 🤦
Don’t forget a missed FG by Moody. They had 4 total offensive possessions in the first half as the D couldn’t stop a cold.
It wasn't an overthrow. The DB impeded his progress and was flagged. BA would have been in prefect position to catch it otherwise.
Dan Campbell went from being the hero 🦸♂️ to the villain 🦹♂️ all in one game 😂😂😂
Cause he destroy their plans of crucifying Purdy
That bomb to Aiyuk looked over thrown only because the DB got into Aiyuk's path obstructing him, and slowed him down. Hence, the yellow flag was thrown for defensive pass interference. Yet, Aiyuk still caught it bouncing off the DB's helmet which nullifies the DPI.
Purdy, you're now our only hope. Burrow seems to be the only active, star QB who can beat Mahomes when it matters.
Brock purdy is good. Cambell cost them this game by being overly aggressive but they wouldn't have got there without playing that way.

The touchdown pass. That block through. Off the guy's helmet was a perfect pass in stride , but the receiver was slowed up and Bumped by the defense., How can you not see that
The weakest link on the 49ers has been the defense for the past month at least, the Purdy take is getting real stale.
Agree the defence has been appalling.
It was pass interference anyways Nick, you always omit your negatives, and the Lions hit midnight and turned back into the Lions.
The Purdy “overthrow”, when are these people going to acknowledge Aiyuk was illegally bumped by the DB (which there was a PI flag) and that slowed him down. If there’s no PI the ball would have been in the right spot.
Nick always forgets that luck is part of sports. Purdy is a second year QB.
Nick will never changs his mind
A point many have missed on the Aiyuk catch is there was a PI called on the defender. Without the PI, maybe that ball is right on Aiyuk for a TD in stride. As it is, that ball was only about 2 feet out of Aiyuk's reach.
I do agree that he got away with one on the Jennings catch. It was a similar play the other direction that was the nail for Green Bay last week.
Mahomes as made similar throws and he gets all glory of how great he can improvise.
