- In this video, I finally begin the assembly of the chain. In order to do this I create a series of fire welded rings in order to join several of the components together.
This series has been awsome. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us. When I get some time I look forward to making pieces of this chain.
Me too, it will be an exciting project!
I allredy started collecting wrought iron for it.
I have absolutely loved this build so far and I really hope you do more big historic recreations in the future
That "magic instant heat" must be pretty handy! Seriously though, I love to watch you work. Great videos!
Rowen that's one long chain love the details.might need a forklift to put it high enough to hang it on take a photo .you do awesome work my friend thanks
This series is incredible!! Great video! I love your comments about dropping your work. Learning so much.
Absolutely wonderful to watch you recreating something so intricate. Keep up the good work sir.
Fighting with the sheer size of the thing is reason enough to have apprentices.
If you ever find yourself over here across the pond in the States, would love to work with you and learn a few new things. Another great video Mate!
And I hawe absolute loved all Your videos!
These videos are grand!
Nice chain! I need to try my hand and making chain. Not for anything specific other than getting better at forge welding. Keep up the great stuff! Define Your Legacy!
enjoyed this content thank's for sharing.
Awesome Work!
just amazing craftmanship
Looking really good!!
WOOOO!! no sound issues!
you are doing great bro
Firewelding is a great fun, today i welded a chainsaw chain to a billet of damascus, welded a piece of an old file between it and forged a dagger out of it... cant wait how the pattern will look, but I have to wait until monday, fuck sunday!
Great video, Rowan!
Where will you put that chain?
I wonder if that second ring was there to turn it by 90 degrees? Other than that, or lowering whatever was hanging from this just slightly, I can't think of a reason for it to be there. Compared to all the detail in the rest of this thing, it's not that noticeable, so I don't know that it would have been just to show off. Odd.
so you said this is a cooking chain. Where would this have hung from that they would have needed one so long?
Why is this thing so long? it just seems absurd when put together. Beautiful work regardless.
Perhaps it's a matter of: If powerful chieftain (A) can afford a chain that's long and elaborate, then powerful chieftain (B) will need one longer and more elaborate.
TheRedOne Are you talking about his beard or his chain?
John: True, certainly a statement piece.
Shane: His beard obviously.I'm just the smallest bit jealous.
Im guessing the chain length was related to the size of the hearth...and, I'm sure that was something of status symbol, too.
use panoramic mode to take the completed picture ?
What if you had made that largest easier ring the last ring?
And please teach us all how to take magic instant heats!!!
The magic instant heats are camera cuts. He steps out of frame, and splices out the down time. The camera is fixed, so it's a smooth transition.
Dan L so... to become a truly great blacksmith I have to get myself a camera?
How to ondulate chain?
The original must of either cost a fortune, or was made by enslaved blacksmith's.
