Rowan, thanks once again for the weekly fix. Rowan, the chain is truly remarkable, it must have lived in a huge building/hall, a real statement of wealth/power, when something so mundane and utilitarian, as a chain to hold your cooking pot over the fire, is so impressive - as usual, I look forward to next weeks installment.
the figure 8 pieces are really pretty over all. something I do is while your showing whats being done in the video today is I pause it and try to figure out how the piece would be made. today I studied it for about ten minutes and couldn't quite figure it out until I grabbed a length of rope and messed with it for a while. really spectacular work.
Stunning piece of work, really inspirational. Looking at the drawings don’t think the figure of 8’s are quite right, the ends of the loops should be inside the other loop (can’t post a picture of what I mean)

I know what you mean, it is tricky to describe. The video shows a loop with a cow's hitch at each end, that's not what the Sutton Hoo link is.
👍👍👍
this is gonna be sweet when it's finished. Are you making this for a museum or living history type deal or is it a personal project?
Hi, love this series! I started wondering about those figure of 8 shackles, should the centers not be going over each other?
Rowan, I am curious what you will do with this lovely piece when you are done. Is this a commission? frank
