@liveandletlive2014 for a trained musician Sleep Token is a huge sensory overflow at the beginning. You hear Metalcore but at the same time it's a surprise test for Jazz groves, the guitar and bass are on crack and Vessel mixes all kind of tricks from any genre out there while doing his own stuff.

One of the things that makes Sleep Token so good is the intensity contained within a well-modulated rich-toned voice. Very much like Maynard from Tool.
I've been saying they're the modern day heavy pink floyd with a mixture of tool. Melodic and intense instrumentals, strong vocals, and very strong story telling musical arrangement.

Always thought Tool would stand alone for me, but that was the first place my mind went when I started listening to them. Which is crazy, the sound is entirely different. But the song structure, the layering. Lyricism and story telling. The conviction of the vocals. The technicality of the drums. It's all on another level with these two bands specifically. Truly incredible stuff.
I immediately thought the same thing. I have seen both in concert multiple times, and they are both amazing. In terms of presentation/ visuals, TOOL holds the top spot. But vocals, lyrics, and composition they are basicly equal, and I never, ever thought I would say that.

So not only are they carrying a heightened sense of that same ambient/more chill vibe, they are also picking up and progressing on melodies from all the way at the beginning, as is the guitar (notes played are similar to the chord progressions a bit earlier in the song). It's a simultaneous callback to like 3-4 different parts of the song, while ALSO making it different AGAIN. Absolutely insane.

I studied as an opera student for many years and I SO APPRECIATE THIS WOMAN’S EXPERTISE focusing on what Vessel is doing vocally. I know people get it, he’s really good. But as a vocalist, I’m always thinking critics of this band don’t know HOW GOOD! All the transitions he pulls of with his voice are INSANE and difficult.

It's so fulfilling watching two repected professionals of different music genres (though I think we can safely say at this point that we've brought her over to the Dark Side) who appear to be kindred souls appreciate another professional artists work.

I've been impatiently waiting for Elizabeth to finally hear Sleep Token. They're overwhelmingly amazing. Every...single...song. Vessel is one of my favorite vocalists of all time, his range and expression are among the very best. And the drummer, II, is just...inhumanly talented. I could go on and on but I'll just wait for the inevitable CV Sleep Token journey. Just pick a song and you'll fall in love.
And I'm so glad Will joined her for this one. For those who don't know, his vocal cover of Chokehold is magnificent.
I gotta ask, if you ever think you know who Vessel is, don't tell anyone. The band's commitment to anonymity is integral to their art form. I'm definitely curious but I'd honestly rather not know, and I think a lot of fans feel the same.

The first time I heard Will sing clean vocals was a cover of a Sleep Token song! I was totally blown away!
The vocal transitions are very “jinjer” ish. The way the singer moves through different vocals. This song is awesome.
I “found” Sleep Token only about a month before this song was released… I’ve never heard a band change genres 5 times in a single song before… time signatures, yes, but GENRES?? Love it!

Absolutely loved this. Will giving his perspective as a fan and as a metal/harsh vocalist balanced with Elizabeth's knowledge and experience was so great. Also, it seems like they are genuinely friends which makes the back and forth wholesome

Vessels voice is orgasmic! He makes you feel how he felt, in the moment that he experienced whatever it was that made him feel that way! Its like eminem, you feel the venom in his words sometimes, and your like "woah" cos you know he felt it, when whatever it was, happened. Thats when you know songs come from the heart and soul of the person singing it. I have this thing where I will relate a personal experience to a song im singing, and my voice suddenly becomes a literal emotion! I dont know how else to put it!
However, I'm literally crying happy tears at Will fan girling over one of my favourite bands, like my 48yr old self isnt doing the same! I've been a lorna shore fan for a lil bit too, so im just gonna save this video for the days im feeling crappy! Also, you guys are giving me life with the cutest friendship! i dunno if many people noticed, but the transition from the piano to the jazzy part carries the melody between the really high piano notes into the notes made by the tom then kick drum then into the bass line. listen closely to when the piano transitions into the snare then follow the melody into the drumline then the bass guitar. i think thats why the transition works so well. ive never heard anything like that, melodies transferring between instruments and genres at the same time. unreal 31:40
