For everyone commenting or asking about Cory's statement on Suga listening to music, this is where is came from: In an interview with GQ Australia, the South Korean rapper and producer shared that he is trying to limit his exposure music in order to “carry on for a long time” as a musician. Suga had been deeply involved in the making of boyband’s music since their debut in 2013, and has been credited as a songwriter on the majority of their discography. “I don’t listen to music unless I’m working on my own music. I keep it as far from me as possible. I seek music only when I need it,” said Suga, adding that he felt that it was necessary in order to continue making music. He revealed he had adopted this approach around five years ago, and that he had used to like music “too much”. “If you love something too much, there comes a time when you have to give it up for that very reason. You need to keep it at a certain distance if you want to pursue it for a long time and if you don’t want to be consumed by it,” explained the 28-year-old musician. “If you give it too much meaning, it becomes very difficult to continue.” “I think it was the right move. I can let it flow naturally and not try too hard,” reflected Suga, who explained that it had also allowed him to learn to rely on his bandmates’ help when faced with issues. “Of course, I still have a sense of responsibility, but it’s nice to know that there are people who will catch me if I make a mistake,” said the BTS member.
interesting about that tidbit of Suga not listening to music. He definitely consumed a lot of music in the past, as he's well-versed in American old-school hiphop and Korean rap too. Perhaps he felt consuming too much was negatively affecting his music making abilities. Everyone's creative process works in different ways, there's no one right way to do. You just have to find what fits best for you as an artist. You don't necessarily need to listen to a lot of music to make good music, Beethoven was deaf after all and he could still compose masterpieces. In fact, a lot of his greatest masterpieces were composed after he went deaf. Some geniuses just have the music in themselves already, and hearing too much outside music can disturb them. We can't assume that everyone's minds works the same way as ourselves. Suga's method might not work well for you or other people, but he feel it works best for himself. And who's to say that's wrong? There is no right or wrong, it's a subjective thing for every artist. And after some time, he may change his methods again. Artistic creative processes are always changing for many people. I saw that article about Suga came out in 2021, it's just interesting cause that same year he shared his music playlist of other artists' music. I distinctly remember Time by Hans Zimmer from the film Inception being on his playlist. Suga said he's a big fan of Hans Zimmer. The 3 rappers made a rap song together called Outro: Tear, that has a very Hans Zimmer sounding instrumental to me. Suga composed the melody for it and all 3 rappers took part in the songwriting. To me, there's a Hans Zimmer influence in the song. There's no music video, so you can listen to a lyric video. And here's an iconic live performance of it at Wembley in England: ruclips.net/video/UDuaJGYe8EQ/видео.html I do recommend listening to a lyric video first to hear the studio recorded version, as the screaming crowd can sometimes distort the sound of the song.
something to keep in mind when reading through Min Yoongi quotes is that if you are reading them in any language other than Korean, and they are on a topic of any depth, you are going to be reading a translation. this translation is always tinged with the translator's own ideas and style, perceptions and preconceived notions about Min Yoongi, and their own ability to grasp the depth of what he is actually saying... have they read the same things and thought as deeply about them as our encyclopedic Min Yoongi? I say this because I do read and speak more than one language. For example, I am not extremely fond of Edgar Allen Poe in English but when I read Charles Baudelaire's translations of the poems in to French I'm transfixed. Poe through Baudelaire's eyes and style is a completely different poet. how a translator inevitably colors the original meaning to be a shade more this or that is just something to keep in mind. that is why I personally enjoy ALL of the ARMY translators for songs, interviews and everything else that the guys put out, I take away so much more depth to what was said and meant by perusing lots of them in my attempt to glean more complete understanding, especially since several of the guys are very philosophical, most love to play with words and all are humbly understated.
Just want to give you think link that explained Daechwita and some of the lyrics further, very interesting watch: ruclips.net/video/JayEtmyXVpo/видео.html
BTS is definitely not bubble gum pop. It's just the only style that US radio will acknowledge from them. That's what makes a BTS journey so rewarding... A surprise at every turn.
Exactly. Then music "experts" will condemn the popy based aspect even when paradogically the industry wont acnowledge nor accept diversity but rather theyll exculde whoever will try things out of their standards. BTS best songs and lyrics are bsides.
Rolling Stone described Agust D as the machine gun of bts: "If SUGA is the persona Min Yoongi uses as a shield, Agust D is his machine gun." it was initially his raw tracks talking about his struggles with mental health plus social injustice in really chilling ways that brought me into bts.
It's so good to see that you guys research about artists and the backstory of the songs before reacting to it. Hope to see more such videos soon. I'm thankful as an Army.!💜
Army's correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Suga said the first cd he owned was by Eminem. His parents didn't know English so they didn't know what was being said/rapped/sang. I'm not an expert but I remember hearing this as Suga is my bias, I also love Em, and I laughed at the parents bit. 🙂 💜
fun fact: suga was initially brought on solely as a producer. he came from the Korean underground hiphop scene where he was basically selling his tracks on the street, to this day he jokes about how bang pd "tricked him" into joining bts as a member by promising him there won't be any dancing. -
Peach Soju is my favorite. Daechwita is a traditional style of music that was played to let the commoners know when the King/Emperor of the royal military was coming through; Hence "Play it loud". Yoongi is a whiskey connoisseur. It was Jin and JK. Suga is recognized as one of the fastest rappers in S. Korea. Fun fact: the pistol he uses at the end is legitimately called "Army". When he was recuperating from shoulder surgery, he said he thought about how ARMY always said that BTS music helps them when they're down... so he spent time listening to a bunch of their songs and said he understood what ARMY meant. :)
Funny thing is that even though Suga is known as one of the fastest rapper in SoKor, and RM is not even though from the two, RM was faster on a recording. Not comparing, absolutely love both guys, but its interesting how RM is known by his lyricsm while Suga is known by speed when both share these two things, both are fast af, and both have amazing lyricsm.
@@PanyikPatrik I 100% agree. I just think that Suga gets recognized more for the speed since he tends to have the faster verses in BTS songs where RMs faster verses are in his solo work. Just my opinion...
Suga is a great rapper, he is fast, aggressive, honest, not afraid to say what he thinks, sometimes even in spite of the label. He's my bias, I've never met a person like him. 1. You must react to Agust D - Agust D with subtitles! the daechwita is nothing compared to this. 2. You must react to bts cypher live in Madley too. THEY KILLED IT!
But he's not always aggressive or fast, he adapts his style to what the song needs (an example is his re-recording of his part in Song Request, as we're shown on the Bangtan Bomb for it)
I agree reacting to August D MV IT would be great. You cannot even compare to Daechita, but in good way, those are super different. On addition his rap is super emotional, I fell info rap after listening to his D-2 mixtape. This caught me off guard and from first mix tape The Last was song which left me speachless. I admire he is playing so much with beat and flow.
Suga can rap in several styles. Rap is not just about spill in fast way. He knows so well how to make a rap can be enjoyed by rapper and listener. I was not really into in rap until I listen his rap. I can enjoy listen a rap Song after get to know Suga.
Thanks for the reaction! The music under Agust D does have a distinctly different sound than what's labeled as SUGA but if you ever get around to listening to the BTS Cyphers (especially the live performances, there should be some with english subs floating around, I recommend the cypher medley) the rapline goes hard on those too.
Suga is a damn musical genius and the whole way he produced this song with the rapping flows always blows me away. The whole concept of killing the blonde AgustD (from his first album) who is greedy and angry just killing his enemies to be a rebel a man of the people is also genius story telling. He buried a ton of historical Korean references on the Mv and lyrics.
Korean traditional military music, Daechwita (大吹打) Daechwita is a music that was used as an accompaniment when the king came or the army marched in the Joseon Dynasty. The name of the last gun that Suga shot was "Army" Colt army model 1860 Ps:The name ‘Agust D’ is the reverse of ‘DT Suga’ written in the lyrics. DT refers to Suga's hometown, Daegu, that is, D Town. He used the nickname "Sugar" abbreviated as "Sugar" as he was a basketball shooting guard.
Suga is literally one of the fastest rappers in the industry…He is Phenomenal. What is so impressive about Yoongi is that he is a lyrical genius and a beat mastermind. I’m so glad you guys liked this masterpiece.
Now you need to see the mad king persona of Savage Suga: Agust D and Give it To Me. Two MVs, and one is a continuation of the other. Suga is my bias, he is an incredible artist and human being, although I love them all dearly. But his rawness always speaks to me. 💜💜💜
The thing with BTS is that one can't make assumption about them. The more you know them and the more you listen to their music...the more you'll get surprised at how diverse and amazing their discography really is. Thank you for reacting 💜.
i love how you didn’t know if you wanted to call him suga or agust d 😂 that man has 4 personalities suga, agust d, and min yoongi , or grumpy grandpa when they wake him up from a nap 😭
Agust D is producer, songwriter, composer of his own music. He is usually credited for keyboard/piano and synthesizer in his songs as well and he is always behind the concepts of his MVs
Yes Jin was the one that bumped into Yoongi, and JK was the one that "fought" Jin. Personally I love the watermelon and then the strawberry flavored Soju, I haven't braved tasting the grape yet. Lol
Thank you very much for this video! I would love if you react to a full album by the group or their individual mixtapes. I personally recommend "D-2" by Agust D, his most recent album. When you listen more of the group's music and solo projects, you will realize how versatile they are as artists and how different they are from each other. I'm sure BTS is a group you will truly love. 💜
What you said about suga not wanting to be influenced might be a mistranslation or misunderstanding. Because he has always names a lot of great rappers who influenced him throughout his whole career, he's done some samples too. What he said about not listening to music means he doesn’t listen in the period that he is making music so that he can focus more on his own production with a clear mind, sorta like working with a blank canvas and not looking at others' color palette.
I love the fact that all the members release solo work (that’s all in such different styles) in which they can all shine in their best individually. I’m happy you two enjoyed Daechwita, I have to say your pronunciation is among some of the best first time ones I’ve heard while surfing reactions. I also really do appreciate the research you do before reactions! Stay safe :)
I really like outro tear which is the rap line together but there's so much to listen to.They are always doing something new but I will tell you there is nothing like watching them do live performances at mama awards and mnet they will blow your mind...💜💜💜💜💜💜
I'm glad that you research a bit before watching the videos. I know that many reactors don't because they feel that their opinion might be influenced. However, with BTS, there is so much more to their music; there is always a backstory, deep lyrics, and Korean overtones that we can not catch as Westerners. You miss so much if you go into their songs totally unprepared.
based off your reactions, i feel like you guys would enjoy “blood, sweat & tears” and “black swan” both incredible music videos! loved this reaction! 💜
You should react for more of his songs and you'll know who is Suga,Agust D, Min Yoongi and Lil Meow meow😂 FUN FACT ABOUT THIS SONG: DAECHWITA has only one beat for the entire song, you'll think it has different beats but it's just how Yoongi Raps
It's so refreshing to watch people reacting to BTS already having some knowledge about the song or the story of the music video. I appreciate that you read up on them beforehand and not just say something like "let me know on the comments!" Although we will be more than happy to supply the information we know, I'm realizing how much I appreciate that you guys do all of that. =) I also enjoyed your Q&A at the beginning! More power to you and your channel!
Ahh, I envy anyone just beginning their journey down the “BTS rabbit hole”. Always surprising and inspiring. They can’t be pigeonholed as they excel in many genres. Enjoy!💜
My bearded beauties! Thank you for any great reaction. Your take on BTS continues to be so refreshing. It shows you care. The fact that you take time out to do a little research before each new reaction is appreciated. Again, love the overall video. Batman and Joker are my favorite hero and villain of all time. Btw, I'm also looking forward to "Everything Everywhere All At Once".
Great reaction! I wonder if you got this background information from the behind the scenes footage since it seemed strangely accurate and in accordance with that video- if so please film your reaction to that kind of content! It would be much appreciated,
@@BeardsBoozeBandsBS Hey just saw this and I like both of yall reactions. I also noticed that you're pretty new to the BTS rabbit hole. Besides the videos you have reacted to, if you need a good starter guide playlist to help you, you can use this one. It has a bit of everything, like three of their most iconic stage performances (2018-2020 MMA), personally the top standard of what they be can do, two introduction videos, a few of their reality TV show episodes, RUN BTS, and the starting episode for their RUclips docuseries: ruclips.net/p/PLrX8cd2jvHh6MCpfArH5rgx4wyCsiO65T. Read the disclaimer on the left hand column, there's more info and links to access their vast media content. For more performances, you can also use this playlist which has more stages you can look through. Has a mix of dynamic award stages, regular music program performances, Muster/fan meet concerts, live Las Vegas/LA Stadium clips, US show performances, & also some unplugged stages: ruclips.net/p/PLrX8cd2jvHh6h19uWz11kFPe687ZNvU-2 Thanks and I hope you do more similar videos on BTS 💜
Agust D's (disstracks) go hard, but I actually prefer his more introspective and philosophical tracks. "Strange" ft. RM is deep. And SUGA's solo BTS song "First Love" (which is about music) gives me chills because it is so passionate and personal yet somehow still relatable.
Yeeessss I was waiting for you to react to Agust D 😭😭 thank you so much 💜💜💜 I really love Yoongi's music, whether he performs as Suga or Agust D his songs are always so good 😩💜
To start the comment, I love the conversations at the beginning, and me being a nerd with pride and army for just 4 months, I loved seeing a video where I can see smart and knowledgeable people talking about this Suga solo that I love, and still a discussion about Joker, amazing.
Again, mindblown by the amount of research done. You going above and beyond to learn abt their craft is really really amazing bc not every reactor does that. They usually just do surface level and then move on. i cant express how much i appreciate this. We'd love to watch the behind the scenes and making videos with you two if you want to. BangtanTv is where you can find it and if there are no captions then just hop on to BangtanSubs a fan translation channel. I'll link the mv making video and interview where SUGA talks abt this song. Also you can have a clear look at the cameos 😉 mv shooting: ruclips.net/video/KWRJ8CUBsXI/видео.html interview: ruclips.net/video/qLw8gLqf0bE/видео.html
I'm impressed how you take bts and their music seriously, with respect and so much insight, even taking the time to watch other contents about them or clips related to the mv. Thank you. Not everyone has such open minds. Suga mentioned before that one of his early influences was Eminem and even went to his concert in Seoul. About his habit of not listening to music, I think it's something that only works for him and his personality. It may be a bit odd for most of us but I think that's how he avoids burnout. He writes, composes and produces not just for BTS, but also for his own mixtape, for other artists and even produced his own rendition of Samsung's ringtone Over The Horizon. It's impressive how he manages to write and produce for different artists with varying styles and genre. Suga has always been very consistent in his passion for creating music. He once mentioned in an earlier interview that he's trying to maintain that passion by making sure he doesn't reach a point when it becomes a tiring job for him, not in those exact words but something along that line. They also talked about it in Black Swan. It seems like a weird approach but it seems that's how he manages to keep fresh new ideas flowing out smoothly.
when they say "He's fast", I was like : "wait until you see / heard the cypher series, Sirs" 😂. would love to watch their reaction to those rapline masterpiece 😁
Yeah you guys are really dope, I am for sure going to subscribe. I understand that you guys are new to Korean music and I'm not going to beat you up for every word you say, I mean this is a whole new culture for you guys! Also, I really appreciate you guys doing research and not going in too blind, it just shows that you care and respect artist and I respect you guys for that. Side note: Korean fried chicken and beer is the way to go. Another part of the Korean culture you can try before videos is Somaek. Somaek is when you mix both Soju and beer together. There is also a game that goes with it, just search it up. Sorry another side note: If you are looking for a BTS MV that has good filming aspects, I recommend "Blood Sweat and Tears" and "Fake Love"
You should react to the 'behind the scenes', ARMY will watch!! The only BTS song to make me cry was First Love by Suga. Getting teary over a rap song? Yes you can!💜
@@nithikarnmenard678 I cry every time I listen to First Love. As a former pianist who has given it up because of burn out, it wrecks me every single time. Though I'll never forget the first time, as a child, my fingers touched the keys of my tall, brown piano. "I feel so nice mom . . ."
August D mixtapes are incredible journey, worth time invested in listening and understanding. First Love and The Last changed me and always made me cry.
Everytime First Love comes up in my playlist, I just subconsciously stops in what I am doing and was pulled in to listen more intently. First Love, The Last, and So Far Away ft. Suran (tho I love the ft. Jin and JK too, but Yoongi is much more raw on this original version), makes me wanna cry for him, and yes, can't help but tear up.
Love how you research about the songs. It does enhance not only your viewing of the video but is definitely more gratifying to watch from a viewer perspective. Thank you.
I was waiting for this!!! 🤩 In general, I'm glad ya'll found the boys and now the legend himself 💜 Ps: I highly suggest checking out Cypher pt2: Triptych by BTS rapline. Their 3 different styles are portrayed there so perfectly and neatly.
Thank you so much for spotlighting Agust D & also being responsible and doing your research. Yes, you were right. Jin was the older one & Jungkook was the younger one. Yoongi just completed a video with Psy called That That. He co-wrote, composed, arranged, produced, featured, & starred in the song. Yoongi is my bias. While preparing for the Grammys, 4 concerts in Vegas, he completed & filmed the Psy video & composing the OST for their new game coming soon called BTS In The SEOM. BTS as a whole is hard working & genuinely talented and that is why Army loves them as well as being loved globally. Amongst other reasons as well. Thank you again for an informative & nonjudgmental podcast. Borahae (I purple you) 💜
14:17 Cameo scene is JIN and JK pretending the fight after JK gets hit by the pole as JIN turns around for a spilt second when SUGA bumps into him on purpose.
This conversation about comic books takes me back to my piano lessons which began when I was seven years old. My teacher, a local parent with two teenage sons, had a pile of their comic books on her end table. I always went as early as possible to my scheduled appointment in order to read these comics before my lesson. Oh yeah. Go Wonder Woman!
It's fascinating how many versions of the Joker have been portrayed dramatically in animation or live action. Thanks guys for a thoughtful reaction, too.
really admire you guys for taking time to learn about the song before reacting about it...this makes you guys well know whats going behind those song...thumbs up..and always for being open minded about the music and artist💜💜💜
I'm enjoying your reactions so much! You guys are fun and thoughtful and have a great sense of pacing. Mic Drop and Daechwita are two of the very first BTS songs/MVs I watched on my own after my niece and sister-in-law introduced me to the group so it's fun seeing your experience resemble my own. As for creeping out store clerks, I once (waaaaaaaay back in the day) checked out of a Best Buy with just two dvds: 'NSYNC Live at Madison Square Garden and Se7en. Good times, good times. :D
Drinking etiquette depends on the setting, as in, if the other person is your elder or senior professionally, generally it's the younger/subordinate that pours (using BOTH hands!! Either both hands on the bottle or one hand on the bottle & the other grasping your wrist/arm or tucked up touching your fingers to your upper arm that's pouring). The elder/senior would then reciprocate to show their respect for you in turn. Also, the younger/subordinate would then turn away slightly from the elder/most senior person when drinking the soju, again, using both hands to drink (grasping on either side of the cup or, if you want to be even more respectful, holding the cup with one hand while the other covers the bottom of the cup). If, however, it's among friends/family or being okay with everyone being casual has been previously established then drinking order & who pours whose drink can be disregarded though you'd still want to make sure you're using both hands if you're pouring for your elder/senior even in casual circumstances!
My own theory as a fan who've gone through their journey is that, AgustD in the past are rough, a person who wanted to be the best, to be king, to be the top above everyone else, he mentioned is few of his songs abt how greedy and needy he wants it. He's hungry to be on the top and dissing everyone who try to take his throne. Suga is a rapper who started from the bottom, rapping and making music underground, belittled by peers, so he was angry and mad to prove them wrong. Yes, he got it. He is on the top now. But something isn't fully resolved within him, wondering why he's still so hungry. It's towards 2018-2020 he realized whatever he was chasing for isn't really important. Though achieving things/title/ success is good, depending on those doesn't bring peace to the soul. So 2020 AgustD have come to a sense that "yes I realized my own talents, my own strength, I know I'm better but focusing on proving it is useless" so the current him is calmer, he's still going to do what he do best: music, despite putting any benchmark, comparing it with others, he's just going to focus on himself, his team, his fans. agustD has reached an invincible level where he let go of the past, of what angers him. The past agustD was eager, evil. Current AgustD is calm and constant. Yes, he killed his own past self. Or what did they say? "New year New me"
As a writer, I don't read other works while I'm in writing mode. I do during editing mode, but I find that it is far too easy to be influenced while writing. I don't want other voices mixed in with mine. I also find that bc writing and stories are my job, words are like more work. So I completely understand why Suga wouldn't want to be inundated by music constantly(and it's hard to avoid even if you don't seek it out).
yeah I actually really like that you have real honest discussions about what you react to, I'm sure there are always ppl who are annoyed by it but they can just go watch the original content for all I care.
Suga pretty much built his underground rap game based on eminems style. Suga says it's attack rap and got coined the term ''tongue technology''. Suga suffered from depression when he was a teenager and music/piano became his escape. That's why most of his solo stuff talks about psychological themes. Music was weirdly therapy for him.
Came here as ARMY and watched a few of your videos so far, and I really enjoy your discussion not just of the video but the Q/A as well. Thanks for a thoughtful analysis! Subbed and going to check out your other videos
Honestly, you guys kinda fulfill that fact my parents don’t really like k-pop (like I do) you fill up that space and I’m happy you guys are making time out of your day to do these types of videos! Also- you guys definitely need to listen to Cypher 4. By the rap line, you’ll love it. Thank you for another awesome video
I wanted to comment on your Episode 4 video, but time got away from me and you're already at Episode 8 before I knew it! I just wanted to say that I really like the concept of these episodes! I value your opinions on the alcohol and I like that we get to know you more through the questions! Something I haven't seen done before and I really appreciate the format! I believe you made a self-deprecating comment in an earlier video about "getting to the music video since that's what your really here for" and at least on my part I disagree! I really enjoy your unique concept and getting to know you both better. Yes I'm so happy that you are both truly taking the time to give BTS an honest shot and attempting to do your homework beforehand. Honestly there is SO MUCH information out there that I'm sure it is at least slightly overwhelming, so I commend you for making the effort! Also your comments about the Behind the Scenes Documentary for My Universe with Coldplay were all really nice and thoughtful. So I'm here for the whole video! Not just the reactions =). I'll probably check out some of your other videos as well to see if maybe I can find new music through your channel. I also like anime so I'm excited for that video that you teased. Keep up the great work and thank you so much for continuing to have an open mind!
Thank you for this. As a die Hard BTS ARMY and Min Yoongi/SUGA/AgustD stan let me say this was wonderful to watch. Thank you for doing your research and giving our King the respect he deserves 👏
I don't read a lot of comics, I read webtoons, but I can't think of a villain from that category. My favourite villain from any story would be Yoo-jin the stepmother from the KDrama The K2. She was a highly intelligent woman who basically created her own empire while protecting it from her stepmother and half brother, created her husband's entire political career, felt sympathy towards her own victim- her stepdaughter and instilled a deep fear in all the ppl working under her. She was AMAZING. I say I keep re-watching that show for the amazing action and the super awesome Male lead, but that show would be nothing without her as the villain.
Suga aka Agust D is a loves whiskey, when this mixtape dropped, he went live and had a whiskey Ardbeg Corryvreckan to celebrate. D-2 album is such a good solo project, for me it's no skip album for me. He is a very talented producer and musician as well. ARMY is very excited for D-3 to drop this year
I stumbled upon your channel because of this video. Daechwita is one of my favorite songs. I listen to it while working. The amount of research you put into it warms my heart and I am hear for it. Agust D/Suga is a phenomenal artist. Thank you for doing this. I subscribed and can't wait to see what else you do.
Well, people always compare him to Eminem(not exactly comparing but more to Suga reminds them of Eminem) so that's nothing wrong if you also think so too😂👌🏻. Especially with his raw lyrics about his depression and etc in his songs such as "The Last", "Dear My Friend" and "First Love". It would be nice if you can react to those someday. Btw thank you both for the reaction. 21:20 since you're talking about their inspiration, maybe you want to check out "Hip-hop Lover" colour coded lyric where they paid homage to their inspirations and the OGs of hip-hop. Imma spoil two of them that BTS mentioned in that song, Eminem and Rakim.
Suga/Agust D is so impressive not to take away from the other rappers because they are so impressive too but Suga resonates with me more. People have said he raps with his soul. I was not into too much rap until BTS and when ever I hear Suga he has such emotions in his rap he has me now a fan. This song is amazing and shows his talents, but his song Dear friend, or even his part in born singer just hits you differently. Thanks for your research into the songs you are viewing I look forward to the next video.
I want to say I really appreciate the research that you guys did before going into the music! I have listened to this song and watched reactions of it countless of times but I have learnt something new from your discussions!
In case you don’t know this is different form of Kpop that is known as K-Hiphop/Rap which is his main speciality that is really only genre where he can fully express himself while staying humble as Suga of BTS. The meaning behind “Agust D” ~ It’s “Suga” spelled backwards and in reverse “D T” is short for Daegu Town which is his hometown and name of an old underground rap group that he was a part of as rapper “Gloss”. OMG MY BOY HAS COME and GONE LIKE A PRO AFTER PLACING ANTIs, HATERS and CRITICS in their place on top slaying his ARMY 👀🙀 with his hardcore swag, rapid rapping, beast mode beats & traditional tempo and visuals (PAST AGUST D vs PRESENT AGUST D) dont even get me started with the fashion. I was holding my breathe the whole time seeing him getting up from the throne walking into the palace ready to put someone in their place, bodies on the ground, 😹 Jin & Jungkook pretending to fight behind Suga, BTS members hiding in plain sight and brings a modern car into traditional korean dynasty while battling his innerself then goes into nasty slow flow rap like RM did in DDAENG. It came to the end I was literally on the edge of my seat when he was being taken what looked like he was going to get beheaded while AGUSTD is showing off his sword skills then Suga takes the gun shooting the dark side of himself like a boss 😎 I noticed he used some beats with allot of phrases that he did in their BTS comeback trailer interlude: SHADOW. When I saw the scar, I remembered how much he loves scarface and reminds me abit of scar from lion king with mortal kombat vibes. The BLACK FIGURES behind SUGA presents the fandom: ARMY, he’s basically saying goodbye to his past because he’s ready to move on to a new chapter of his life. *Daechwita is a korean form of marching music that old armies used as they marched into battle or kingly procession; his old & current self fighting for domination over his present life. During his first mixtape he makes many references on how SUGA (stage name) kills Min Yoongi which is his true identity. Now, Agust D the raw savage side kills off the king and SUGA sits down from royalty; if i’m not mistaken, last emperor of the country. The concept/theme is a traditional dynasty where the long hair is indication of wealth and Agust D shown dressed in authentic kingly garments, It was also strongly frowned upon or forbidden for anyone with scars could never be royalty but with this track & music video breaks that stereotype by having Agust D shown with a large visible vertical scar on his eye which expresses even people with scars can be royal on top of showing how powerful his presence is which reminds me of kdrama Scarlet Heart: Ryeo 4th prince where he had a scar but became king despite of it but I also remember how much Suga loves Scarface. IN SIMPLE TERMS HE IS BASICALLY FIGHTING TO TRY STAYING HUMBLE AS A TRUE GROWING ARTIST / RAPPER by confronting his past self. Almost everyone had that reaction and for anyone who doesn’t know or recoginze him, he’s Suga of BTS a globally famous male kpop group, this is his solo alter-ego which is a self-produced solo artist/rapper, if you haven’t seen his first one; Its 2016 ‘AGUSTD’ mixtape. *THE PHRASES “I born a tiger I ain’t no weak pill popper like you”, he was born to be true to his craft not stray from it 😝 ... “We so fly we so fly private jet we so fly”, he’s talking about his groupmates BTS on how swagged they are then you see him bump into Jin (In a beard? Lol) who turns for a second and jungkook accidentally walks into the fishing pole that Jin is holding & they pretend to fight ... “off with their heads”, he doesn’t mean literally cutting their heads off but more or less he’s cutting their heads off with his words. Hahahaha, you know he’s not Suga when he DISSing justin timberlake when he says “cry me a river you just got no skills”* KIDDNG #AGUSTD2 #Confrontation #Daechwita #BTS
glad you guys enjoyed Agust D's Daechwita :))))) and yes, Jin (the one that got bumped into) and JK (the one that got hit by the fishing pole) are cameos in the music video. that part of the song where you guys said that "he's fast" is my favorite part! and also that sword dance scene as well, where yoongi (suga) had learned it in 2 days (which cory had already checked out lol). fyi too, daechwita wasn't supposed to have a music video, but yoongi decided to go all out and film it anyway for the fans :) now that you've watched this, it's time for you guys to watch the BTS version! i won't spoil anything, just that they all took part in rapping in the song, complete with costume too!
These guys work their asses off, and it's not because of BigHit founding man Hitman Bang. These guys are perfectionist especially Jimin and JHope. But because of their tenacity and their dedication not only for themselves but to ARMY, it's a symbiotic process.
love how you do prior research honestly!!! makes it so much more interesting to hear your thoughts on it heheh also I like the joker a lot too!! tho I’m not a big fan of marvel or dc but the joker 🫶🏽 great villain
They all have solo songs and they are amazing! Some sugestions: RM: Joke, Do You Suga: The Last, Shadow J-Hope: Airplane, Daydream, Ego Rap line: Cyphers 1, 2 and 3, Outro: Tear, UGH, Ddaeng I really enjoyed your breakdown. Got a new subcriber 😊
I love the reactions you both have to BTS' music and for the individual members too. They all have their own talents in music and this video just shows how versatile Suga can be. He is not only an amazing producer and song writer but his rapping skills are mind blowing as well! The cameo you spoke of is indeed Jin (the guy AgustD bumped into) and Jungkook, the other one who was at the side of Jin and they end up arguing with each other in the background.
officially got a new subscriber! there's a sense of class and genuine-ness to your guys' reactions that I appreciate so much, thank you so much for being open minded about them (not a lot of people are), super looking forward to more bts reactions!
Just a tidbit: One of the things that a Korean reactor pointed out is that "Mad King" Yoongi was wearing black and gold royal ceremonial robes. And "Rebel" Yoongi showed up in a black and gold car. What I got from that is that the black and gold car was showing that Rebel Yoongi also had a claim to the throne... kinda foreshadowing him overthrowing the Mad King.
I just ran into this podcasts while watching BTS videos. I love that you guys are open minded to all subjects matter in your podcast. I find your views about the Korean culture and this particular MV very interesting and entertaining. Keep doing what you do best, cause I’ll be watching.
For everyone commenting or asking about Cory's statement on Suga listening to music, this is where is came from:
In an interview with GQ Australia, the South Korean rapper and producer shared that he is trying to limit his exposure music in order to “carry on for a long time” as a musician.
“If you give it too much meaning, it becomes very difficult to continue.”
“I think it was the right move.
And here's an iconic live performance of it at Wembley in England:
ruclips.net/video/UDuaJGYe8EQ/видео.html
I do recommend listening to a lyric video first to hear the studio recorded version, as the screaming crowd can sometimes distort the sound of the song.
Oh okay it makes more sense now! I get that

something to keep in mind when reading through Min Yoongi quotes is that if you are reading them in any language other than Korean, and they are on a topic of any depth, you are going to be reading a translation. this translation is always tinged with the translator's own ideas and style, perceptions and preconceived notions about Min Yoongi, and their own ability to grasp the depth of what he is actually saying... have they read the same things and thought as deeply about them as our encyclopedic Min Yoongi?
Cyphers definitely are not bubble gum pop, I hope they listen to them soon
Exactly. Then music "experts" will condemn the popy based aspect even when paradogically the industry wont acnowledge nor accept diversity but rather theyll exculde whoever will try things out of their standards.
BTS best songs and lyrics are bsides.
Yes true 👌
Let’s just wait for 10june2022 💜🤣
Hope they make a cypher at least partially in English 😂 lol

Rolling Stone described Agust D as the machine gun of bts:
"If SUGA is the persona Min Yoongi uses as a shield, Agust D is his machine gun."
it was initially his raw tracks talking about his struggles with mental health plus social injustice in really chilling ways that brought me into bts.
Thank you for that RS comment. It’s an excellent description of Agust D. 💜
oohh that's a cool way to describe him
It's so good to see that you guys research about artists and the backstory of the songs before reacting to it. Hope to see more such videos soon. I'm thankful as an Army.!💜
This is true, there is certain quality of their reactions. I love it and appreciate it.
Yes I like this so far.. Well done
Yes agreed.
Yes, he said that on the late night show interview.
Yep you're right
I think he said not only his parents but he didn't understand that much English either
@@MarinaEariel 😂😂 love it
My husband listens to Eminem all the time and I still don’t know what he’s saying. He raps too fast 😀
fun fact: suga was initially brought on solely as a producer. he came from the Korean underground hiphop scene where he was basically selling his tracks on the street, to this day he jokes about how bang pd "tricked him" into joining bts as a member by promising him there won't be any dancing. -
Peach Soju is my favorite.
@@PanyikPatrik totally agree. It is interesting and funny
But he's not always aggressive or fast, he adapts his style to what the song needs (an example is his re-recording of his part in Song Request, as we're shown on the Bangtan Bomb for it)
And emotional. I love Suga’s emotions when he’s rapping.
And outro: Tear.
Korean traditional military music, Daechwita (大吹打)
Daechwita is a music that was used as an accompaniment when the king came or the army marched in the Joseon Dynasty.
The name of the last gun that Suga shot was "Army"
Colt army model 1860
Ps:The name ‘Agust D’ is the reverse of ‘DT Suga’ written in the lyrics.
Yeah! Waiting for that!
The thing with BTS is that one can't make assumption about them. The more you know them and the more you listen to their music...the more you'll get surprised at how diverse and amazing their discography really is.
Thank you for reacting 💜.
i love how you didn’t know if you wanted to call him suga or agust d 😂

Did y’all know notice how throughout the whole song the beat was the same and he was the one changing flows and playing with the beat and all
Agust D is producer, songwriter, composer of his own music. He is usually credited for keyboard/piano and synthesizer in his songs as well and he is always behind the concepts of his MVs
They are capable of doing different genres. I'm 45 and been Foo BTS since 2015. I grew up on r&b, soul, jazz. I really love their messages.
Yeah, they rock the pronunciation!
You should react for more of his songs and you'll know who is Suga,Agust D, Min Yoongi and Lil Meow meow😂
FUN FACT ABOUT THIS SONG:
DAECHWITA has only one beat for the entire song, you'll think it has different beats but it's just how Yoongi Raps
It would be much appreciated,
I did watch a Behind the Scenes video and read a few articles on the song before I watched the video. Kyle had not.

Agust D's (disstracks) go hard, but I actually prefer his more introspective and philosophical tracks. "Strange" ft. RM is deep. And SUGA's solo BTS song "First Love" (which is about music) gives me chills because it is so passionate and personal yet somehow still relatable.
Yesss... also So Far Away
Strange is literally my favourite 🥺
First love made me cry the first time
Yeeessss I was waiting for you to react to Agust D 😭😭 thank you so much 💜💜💜 I really love Yoongi's music, whether he performs as Suga or Agust D his songs are always so good 😩💜

I’d love to see you guys react to the BTS cyphers!

It seems like a weird approach but it seems that's how he manages to keep fresh new ideas flowing out smoothly.
yeah, have you heard about the psy collab? came out of left field a bit for me - his catalogue is so diverse!
when they say "He's fast", I was like : "wait until you see / heard the cypher series, Sirs" 😂. would love to watch their reaction to those rapline masterpiece 😁
Thanks for the recommendation! We appreciate it. :)
You should react to the 'behind the scenes', ARMY will watch!! The only BTS song to make me cry was First Love by Suga. Getting teary over a rap song? Yes you can!💜
I cried when I listened to First love for the first time too.
@@nithikarnmenard678 I cry every time I listen to First Love. As a former pianist who has given it up because of burn out, it wrecks me every single time. Though I'll never forget the first time, as a child, my fingers touched the keys of my tall, brown piano. "I feel so nice mom . . ."
"The Last" was that rap song for me.

While preparing for the Grammys, 4 concerts in Vegas, he completed & filmed the Psy video & composing the OST for their new game coming soon called BTS In The SEOM.

Same!
yeah I actually really like that you have real honest discussions about what you react to, I'm sure there are always ppl who are annoyed by it but they can just go watch the original content for all I care.
Yall had me cracking up on your three creepy items...LOL!
You're right it was Jin and JK was the one hitting him with his back turned to the camera a bit!
Thank you for another awesome video
so excited you guys really make this video.. thank you
I wanted to comment on your Episode 4 video, but time got away from me and you're already at Episode 8 before I knew it!
YESSS MORE BTS!!!
Thank you for this. As a die Hard BTS ARMY and Min Yoongi/SUGA/AgustD stan let me say this was wonderful to watch. Thank you for doing your research and giving our King the respect he deserves 👏
Suga 😍😍😍😍 please react to Cyphers, Agust D, Shadow, Ugh, Ddaeng
Hi! I love it! Thank you for reacting!
You can turn on the caption to read the lyrics in eng, if you can :)
Jin is the one Suga bumped into. And the other guy that Jin “fought” with is Jungkook. Thanks for this reaction! Really enjoyed it!!
I standard answer to that question is, Extra lg tub of Vaseline, Garden Hose and a game of Twister.
Excellent! LOL
ARMY is very excited for D-3 to drop this year
I love that VLive of the the D-2 album. I hope he keeps drinking in front of us while talking about his music more often
I recommend watching it live with English subtitles because in my opinion it is more enjoyable
Appreciated you guys have done researches before the reaction.
Reaction starts @ 11:40.
Omg I come for BTS & now I want Ice Cream, Pizza, Pink Popcorn, & Lot of Water but dnt feed the police horse 🤣🤣🤣
I want to say I really appreciate the research that you guys did before going into the music! I have listened to this song and watched reactions of it countless of times but I have learnt something new from your discussions!
I love your reactions. You are thoughtful, considerate, and open minded.
I love Suga's Shadow and the rap line's Outro Tear live.
Hahahaha, you know he’s not Suga when he DISSing justin timberlake when he says “cry me a river you just got no skills”* KIDDNG #AGUSTD2 #Confrontation #Daechwita #BTS
glad you guys enjoyed Agust D's Daechwita :))))) and yes, Jin (the one that got bumped into) and JK (the one that got hit by the fishing pole) are cameos in the music video. that part of the song where you guys said that "he's fast" is my favorite part! and also that sword dance scene as well, where yoongi (suga) had learned it in 2 days (which cory had already checked out lol). fyi too, daechwita wasn't supposed to have a music video, but yoongi decided to go all out and film it anyway for the fans :)
now that you've watched this, it's time for you guys to watch the BTS version! i won't spoil anything, just that they all took part in rapping in the song, complete with costume too!
no, there was going to be a music video but bighit wasn't thinking about something grand whereas Yoongi came up to the director with a scenario
You guys are fun to be around even through the screen💜💜💜 .. thank you for reacting to this masterpiece!
Yes! We need more of Suga/Agust D! Try The Last and Agust D 💜💜💜
SUGAAAA🔥🔥🔥
Hearing yall discuss DC and Marvel was great!
Some sugestions:
RM: Joke, Do You
Suga: The Last, Shadow
J-Hope: Airplane, Daydream, Ego
Rap line: Cyphers 1, 2 and 3, Outro: Tear, UGH, Ddaeng
I really enjoyed your breakdown. Got a new subcriber 😊
the whiskey thing is definitely not a rumor; Suga/August D said it himself. He loves his booze - he once done some whiskey in a livestream lol
"they" made this is actually wrong.
Suga , aka min yoongi wrote this and did almost all the producing.
officially got a new subscriber! there's a sense of class and genuine-ness to your guys' reactions that I appreciate so much, thank you so much for being open minded about them (not a lot of people are), super looking forward to more bts reactions!
Yall should see his earlier Agust D stuff and also RM’s solo stuff like Joke and Do You.
Yea my ultimate bais Yooooooooooooooonnnnngggggiiiiiiii 😚
Love your guys reaction 💜
