Finally a story about how war is bad............
The bomb slowly dropping into the chimney... that scared me out of my wits. Yet tied with the bird slowly slipping into the water, all to save its egg - that's some powerful symbolism.

i always wonder with these types of stories as to how realistic is the world they're set because that changes the symbolism quite a lot
in this case: the ending can either be taken as very positive or horribly bleak. on th positive side, you could see it as the parent bird sacrificing itself to preserve the future generation
but... if you take a more "realistic" view of bird biology, the ending becomes tragically futile sice the egg cannot survive without a parent. the baby will either freeze to death inside the egg or starve to death after hatching, so despite the paren't bird's efforts, the ultimate destruction cannot be stopped

But without a parent the hatched chick would die anyway.so if that was the intent it was doomed
the film was intense ... I am sure "The Silent City" must have left so many of its audience in Silence.

Everyone has the potential to be a monster. During WWII the majority of Ukrainians were pro Hitler/pro Nazi (partly because they were anti-Russia) and some of the most brutal concentration camp guards were Ukrainian. Also don't forget the Babi Yar massacre. Maybe karma is at work.

Great animation. So sad and it's happening in Ukraine.
I wept when I watched this film. So sad that this is what is happening now in Ukraine and other places. May the wars stop now because the innocents die from this senseless destruction. Oh, the evil men can do. No baby' s cry or children's laughter or birds protecting their young can stir their hearts to be humans again. 😢😢
