Wrestlemania 19 had an amazing card from top to bottom and it's one of the best shows wwe have ever put together, in my opinion Shawn Michaels vs Chris Jericho was the best match of the night. They told an unbelievable story and they were very similar in terms of their in ring style, I absolutely loved every second of it and what made the match even more special, it was the first time these two ever faced each other on a ppv. This for me was the beginning of Shawn Michael's epic run as 'Mr. Wrestlemania' as he would go on to have the best match of the night multiple times at the biggest show of the year and it all started with this one. 17 years later and it's still a timeless classic.
The Showstopper elbow at 4:00 image defines WM 19 for sure. HBK in the air with the crowd, the WM signs, the colours all compliment the picture. What a time this was. Aw I miss the days of these matches so so badly.
I think that one thing that is seriously underrated with Jericho is his strength. That double powerbomb he used was no easy feat. Really was the full package back in his prime.
This feud was so awesome. I actually got to be there in attendance for WrestleMania 19. I had awesome seats right next to the ramp. I saw everyone up close because they had to walk past me to get to the ring. The seats were so great and I remember this like it was yesterday. I saw Shawn Michaels come out and when his entrance kind of botched when he tried to shoot the confetti guns but a few of them jammed. My favorite wrestler of all time is Stone Cold Steve Austin and I was so happy that I got to be there live for his last match against the Rock.
Not a big HBK fan but I can’t deny that HBK and Y2J had the best match of the night on Wrestlemania 19, also when Chris Jericho had the Heavyweight championship in 2008 was some great matches as well was an intensity behind it with the accidental punch Jericho did on Michaels wife as well as putting HBK through the Jeritron tv he had on the highlight reel
He instantly elevates anyone he works with. I think that's why he's working with so many younger guys in AEW right now, it hives them the rub they need to blast off (I regret that wording). I mean look at Sammy G and MJF. Sammy is one of the most over wrestlers in the company right now thanks to his work with Jericho, and MJF is one of, if not the top heel AEW has right now due to his feud with Jericho (even though they had a great literal song and dance number).
Both their attires at mania is just beautiful. This mania was great the things that would’ve solidified it as the best is if booker won the title. And if lesnar hit the shooting star press to end his match. And the arena is just so gorgeous!
This really was a superb angle. The way they played up how Jericho idolised Shawn and wanted to be like him. Shawn wanting to prove himself after coming back and tearing the house down with someone he knew he could do that with. A coherent storyline that made sense. Bit different these days....
I was at WrestleMania XIX. I lived in Seattle at the time and there was no way in hell I'd miss it. I got a seat next to the ramp and pumped my fist like an idiot at each entrance and exit. It was awesome.
I know how you feel… my friends and I bought last-minute tickets to wrestlemania 15 and drove halfway across the country to go see it (we live in GA, it was in Houston). The trip was crazy, the event was crazy, we were up late as hell for days just being stupid and not even 20yo at the time. It was great.

Mania 19 is still my favorite ppv of all tjme. It was my first mania and set the standard for what a wrestlemania should be for me and this match was definitely a big part of that.

Jericho went from having Wrestlemania matches in his prime with the likes of Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Edge and AJ Styles with millions watching to being bloated and wrestling Orange Cassidy in front of 700K weekly viewers. Sad.
I wish I remember where it came from, but I remember reading that WWE wanted the handshake at the end to go by normally, but both Y2J and HBK went against it, saying it would make all the promo work before the match look useless. I agree. Jericho knew how well he played the heel character so he and Shawn thought it was the perfect way to finish the rivalry at this time. To have that "I'll never be satisfied with ALMOST beating you" attitude in Jericho to Shawn.

Didn't think about how Y2J's feud with MJF was almost a retelling of this feud. Unfortunately, they turned a 4 Month feud into a 10 month feud. I feel like 2 and a half months is the perfect amount of time for Jericho to consistently work with someone. Still, both this and their 2008 feuds are still Jericho's best feuds.
The first ever HBK/Jericho PPV match at Mania was exceptional because the build actually felt natural. The reason for this is that long before the feud even happened, there were already comparisons between the two and JR often brought up the resilience of Jericho, much like he had done with HBK years earlier. This led to to most fans wanting the match long before the low blow!

Chris Jericho & Shawn Michaels have such great chemistry together. Their 2003 feud was good but the 2008 feud was even better.
