That is a lovely compliment, thank you! We have only been to O’ahu so far, but we had such an amazing time there. Definitely hoping to see the other islands at some point! Enjoy your trip 😊
So glad it was helpful!! We really loved our time in Oahu, it’s so fun to share everything we discovered! I’m sure there is so much we missed as well, and then there are all of the other islands too! Definitely hoping to go back someday 😁
Shimazu Store in Honolulu is (in my opinion) better than Matsumoto. Also bigger LOL Added bonus: right up the street are the original Liliha Bakery, Foodland for fresh poke, and hole-in-the-wall Jane's for great saimin. Gives you a sense of what local life is like away from Waikiki. Hack: avoid the crazy lines at Marugame in Waikiki and hit the one in downtown Honolulu in Fort Street Mall.
Thanks for the suggestions!! We will definitely have to try those out next time! We had no idea there was another Marugame location, that would definitely be nice to avoid the long lines next time 😅
It's called Kalua pork. You can make it in the oven. Just take a pork shoulder butt sprinkle a little liquid smoke, seal the pan with aluminum foil. Bake at 350° about 3 how until falling apart tender. Sprinkle with sea salt, shred with two forks. Enjoy!
Duuuude you gotta wait for giovannis. Get the lemon butter plate w/ scampi rice and the hot sauce on the side. All 3 plates in 1 order. And don't order the spicy shrimp plate unless you wanna break your mouth 😅
Musubi is best enjoyed at a warm temperature! They are made fresh every day and kept warm at the stores! Thanks for watching, it was so fun to reminisce about all the tasty delights of O’ahu!
You covered most of the popular foods on O'ahu, which is a good start for new visitors. The rice in plate lunches comes from Japanese immigrant food, not Filipino. The red beans (azuki) in shave ice that you've seen is also Japanese. Japanese pronunciation of "musubi" is not "muSUbi" -- more like "musuBI" and "udon" is not like "u-dawn" -- "O" is always pronounced "oh" in Japanese, so the "don" is pronounced like udohn" or the last syllable in "condone."
Wow, had no idea those were the pronunciations!! Thanks for the info 😊 we were really impressed with the Japanese food on the island, and all of the food in general!
Rice is a staple from all asian immigrant groups who came to Hawaii. Certainly not unique to the Japanese...so silly. I’m positive that the kaukau tine sugar and pineapple planation laborers (yes, including Filipinos) ate from had rice.
Love your attitude, but as a local Hawaii boy, I need to issue some corrections. 1. Not everyone from Hawaii is “Hawaiian”. Hawaiian is an ethnicity, so only native Hawaiians should be called that. The rest of use are just Hawaii people or Hawaii locals, or “kama`aina”. 2. Kālua pig is the right name, not Kailua. Kālua is a Hawaiian word that describes the cooking technique. 3. It’s pronounced MU-su-bi, not mu-SU-bi. 7-11 one is not the best because the spam is not crispy enough, but it’s fine in a pinch. Bob’s is solid. Guava Smoked is also worth checking out if you come back. I’m a malasada purist who likes no filling. Leonard’s is the best, but one of the bakers opened their own place called Pipeline’s that is also good.
Great video of the different foods and drinks of Hawaii.
Thank you so much for watching! So happy to hear you enjoyed it 😊
Thank you so much. We are going next week. My mouth is watering definitely trying most of your recommendations 💕
Thanks so much for watching! Hope you have an awesome time!!
Going to Hawaii soon and your video is exactly what I want my videos to look like
That is a lovely compliment, thank you! We have only been to O’ahu so far, but we had such an amazing time there. Definitely hoping to see the other islands at some point! Enjoy your trip 😊
We just got back from Hawai’i and we were so impressed with the food!! Expensive but top quality!
Completely agree!! Everything we tried was so delicious and unique!
Okay now we are hungry!! I’ve saved all these recs-so helpful to have them compiled in a video like this 🍍🍧
So glad it was helpful!! We really loved our time in Oahu, it’s so fun to share everything we discovered! I’m sure there is so much we missed as well, and then there are all of the other islands too! Definitely hoping to go back someday 😁
Now I’m hungry!! Great video. Thanks for sharing!
It’s all SO delicious 😋 Thanks for watching!!
Heading to Oahu in 4 wks and I'm so excited
Have a great time!! It’s an incredible place 😊
You had me sold on moco loco with the school Salisbury steak
Kailua is a town, and the dish isnt originated from there. Its called kalua pig. (Ka-loo-ah).
Thank you so much! Glad I asked, I was curious why the spelling was different 😆
We tried Bobs last year, it was yummy!!! Looking forward to go again this summer 😊

Yessah shimazus is da best

Wow, so simple but so delicious!! We are definitely trying this when we get home, thanks so much for the tip!

What temperature was the spam musubi served/eaten at? I'm trying to imagine it. Thanks for sharing - now I'm hungry!!
Musubi is best enjoyed at a warm temperature! They are made fresh every day and kept warm at the stores! Thanks for watching, it was so fun to reminisce about all the tasty delights of O’ahu!
Majority of locals, including yours truly, prefer Spam sliced 1/4" thin & fried Crispy
FYI....Kalua=traditionally cooked in imu(underground oven);
Kahlua=coffee liqueur, usually added to cocktails; Kailua=Kye-loo-ah=two seas
What hotels do you recommend on Oahu?
You guys didn't eat poki? Aww man! The island is loaded with poki stops. Certainly on the next level as the OG of anything raw fish.
We saw many poke places!! We will definitely have to try it out next time!
Poke=poh-kay=fish cut into cubes; poki=poh-kee=small sewing stitch
Geovani's is just the hype honestly. There shrimp is pretty basic. I prefer Romi's Shrimp truck.
So funny
It's 3:48 kalua pig not kailua
Thank you!!
Kalua not Kailua and moo-soo-bee not masubi! Mahalo for highlighting some places here at home not many other vloggers do like Bob’s ❤
Thanks for the pronunciations 😊 Mahalo for watching!! We really enjoyed the fantastic food in O’ahu!
@@MaxandSidney it’s always fun to see how our home looks to a new visitor, Oahu and all of the islands has so much good food to experience 🥰

Definitely KALUA pork. I’ve never seen it as Kailua, although Kailua is a city.
Kalua pig, not pork. Also not Kailua. Shave ice, not "shaved ice". Slippahs, never "flip flops"
It is Kalua pork
Less man more food
If you want to pronounce "musubi" how we locals say it, please look up "Amanda and Felix musubi"
Kalua pig doesn’t have the letter “i”. You said it wrong
Exactly why I asked! Wasn’t sure 😂 thanks!
