  • The monster of all Elton transcriptions. A nearly 20 minute long rock and blues inspired Burn Down The Mission from Elton's Tumbleweed Connection album. Featuring covers of "My Baby Left Me" and "Get Back" interspersed with a nearly 15 minute long improvised solo. This song nearly broke my sanity.

@@eltonsnotes5492 the video editing is insane, too. Slowing down and speeding up his voice to make it fit the straight timing of the software. So impressed man, thank you again.
I know you probably have a bunch of other stuff you’re working on, but I’d love to see Bennie from Sydney 1986 some day!
Keep up the amazing work 😁

@@EltonStuff Thanks. Yeah I try to match the music to the vocals as closely as possible. Obviously, with human playback not being 100% metronome-like there are a few places where it slips and slides. So I make small little adjustments here and there to keep the vocals lined up with the computer playback.
Normally every 2-4 measures of sheet music I do a "tempo check" to see what Elton (or the band) are playing at. If it has changed, I put that new tempo in. But doing a tempo check every 2-4 measures in a piece like this one (1,006 measures of music) becomes very time consuming.
But the end result is the vocals are almost perfectly matched to the playback once the video editing starts. Most of the time I only have to make small adjustments of shifting the vocals 0.5 seconds here or there.

Again, thank you so much for this arrangement! Would you maybe consider the 1976 Playground performance of Don’t go breaking my heart? That’s one of my favourites especially because it’s just him and the piano on the stage

I'll take a look at it, but from past experience of trying to transcribe Sweet Painted Lady from that same performance it may not be possible. It all depends on the audio quality, and I remember it being very muddy when trying to pick out the notes. The clearer the audio, the easier it is to not have to strain to hear individual notes.

Understandable, thank you! Well, now I just hope I’m lucky and the audio quality is sufficient… :D
