Elgerouj, one of the finest runner of all times,he didnt need to do tactique, and wait to the finales metres to win races,he was so strong that he takes the lead 400m, some times 600m before the final line, and tell every one behind him''catch me if you can''...

Back then, everyone had fast PRs and races were all out and gutsy. These days it's just sit and kick and let the fastest sprinter win.

That get tired too quickly now days. So they would rather struggle for just the last 100m than the entire race. They are useless in a real matter event. You can't rely on them because they are too afraid of a strong start and finish. No endurance and no get go or get'r done attitude.

There are two ways to win a race: either take the lead and win, or stay behind the leader, waiting for him to falter before taking the victory. El Guerrouj always takes the lead, challenging those behind him to keep up if they can. You can see the struggle on their faces; most can't maintain his pace, except maybe one or two. That's what fascinates me

Blimey, Mehdi Baala was a good looking runner, in terms of silky smooth running style, back then. I'd never really noticed that before.

Great athlete establish a running style very early on in their career, they become almost robotic in a way. El G was very fast they he was elegant and you can't notice the robotic form cuz he was fluid. Great runners master robotic forms and then make it super fluid so you are not all stiff. Cuz robots r not fluid enough. It is a good training method however.
