rumskib just dropped some of the best shoegaze songs of all time and dipped
It's my favorite Shoegaze album ❤
I love the Rumskib album. Keith Canisus went on to release music under his own name but it never quite resonated with me the same way (though there are some gems).
rumskib self titled is the best shoegaze album imo
I love Ozean, it's good that they already put their music on Spotify
I agree! I'm so glad they're finally receiving some recognition
Heck yes! "Fall" is in my daily driver list. The rest of the album gets some rotation on DKFM Classic.
Eric shea from ozean is a good friend amazing guy amazing band
Thanks for this. Ozean popped up for me awhile back, glad to see them get some recognition. And same for Boa, I know they are not shoegaze but still very good. Music (all kinds) from the 90’s is really resonating right now.
More please! How about Orange, The Rosemarys, and Foxtail Somersault : all from San Francisco.
We would be glad to make more! I will check them out :)
i just recently rediscovered the rosemarys a couple weeks ago, love em
I love Eyedazzler so much, it got me into shoegaze and god the album had such an impact on me. At that point in time I had heard nothing like it before, it will always have a special place in my heart since it still evokes so much emotion when I listen to it. I wish Alison's Halo released more music but Eyedazzler is just perfect in my eyes, I never expected it to be my all time favorite album.
I used to know Adam and Kate from Alison's Halo. My friend Daniel and I would go see them whenever they played around Phoenix/Tempe/Mesa, and we'd sometimes hang out with 'em before they played. He knew them a lot better than I did, but I recall them being pretty nice people. I was also friends with some of the members of Half String, too - another great shoegaze band. Good times... 🙂
Thank you for sharing those beautiful memories, Tommy! What I would give to be able to see Alison's Halo back in the 90s. That's so cool you knew Half String, too! They nearly made it into this video actually.
Kimber was a friend of mine for years. I used to visit her "record" store (Stinkweeds) and spend hours just chatting about random stuff. I did buy stuff from her, too. lol She used to stage little shows from local bands in the Tempe store, and all us shoegazers would congregate and "have church." 🙂@@StainedGlassStories
Thanks for this. Mazinga Phaser were cool, from Denton, Texas. I seem to remember there were a bunch of bands from there.
Funny story-I remember getting an Alison’s Halo single and playing it at 33 rpm and thinking, this band sounds SO COOL. of course they sound great at the correct speed too.
I used to be in touch with one of the guys from Half String, I think his name was Brandon? I used to mail-order things from him.
Yep, Brandon. Nice guy, and his knowledge of our beloved shoegaze music is staggering. He was the guy who turned me on to the band Blind Mr. Jones.@@davidtollefson8411
my dad was the drummer in ultracherry violet! he had come from the DC hardcore scene and had played with some of the first ever emo bands (rites of spring, embrace...) back in the 80's! he also played in sweredriver briefly before ultracherry violet.
the reason ultracherry violet only released one album was because the band was extremely disappointed by the lack of attention they were getting. everyone was pretty much ready to quit after a huge falling out they had at a show in DC.
"at the end, we blew up in fine fashion. that final night at black cat, i was ready to call it quits (as a drummer). but after a 10-month cooling off, we were asked do a cd. with no rehearsals, we went to a warehouse in baltimore & recorded it all live in 1 day. my hands had become so unaccustomed to playing, that blisters formed, popped and were bleeding by the time we'd done 5 songs. tho we never played again, i'm quite fond of this. missing song n all. oh, and i never quite quit the drums."
was really looking forward to this
Total Ne0n eclipse of the sounds! Ears WATCHING, literally!
That was great. Thanks!
Awesome... nice review Bro
Love this, thanks!
You are so welcome! :)
love this channel
lets gooooo, great vid guys !
Thank you for all your support Marty :)
Thanx for including ultracherry violet.
And from the deep antipodes, Malchicks album "Mercury" from 1994. Remastered version on bandcamp with with 1992 EP too.
On a lighter note, thanks for sharing Southpacific! I'm an admitted pretentious shoegaze snob (the only genre I'm a snob about), and I never heard of them, but they're great! They've got the stuff!
Also, that's a crazy good, and astute description of Majesty Crush (AR Kane+Loop+The Verve). Well done!
Please, please, please. Make more of these one Album shoegaze bands videos. Thanks!
We would love to! Tysm for your encouragement :) it really means alot to us !!
please make more!! time to go listen 🎧
I hope you enjoy! :)
damn i love all of these, great vid!!
you should check out a recently started shoegaze from Sweden, that have released two albums, they are inspired by alison’s halo
anyway they are called ”Mosaik”
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your continued support. We appreciate it so much!
Numero in Chicago reissued Majesty Crush and Ozean on vinyl. Third Man Records has released two compilations of 90s Midwest shoegaze bands, one of which is just Michigan bands. Definitely worth diving into the 90s Midwest shoegaze scene. They were the best of the bunch.
As a Minnesotan, I second that suggestion to check out a lot of the shoegaze from the midwest. So glad these groups are receiving some much-deserved appreciation finally.
@@StainedGlassStories Twin/Tone is probably my favorite American indie label and a few Minneapolis shoegaze bands on the Third Man compilation. Not a shoegaze band but The Hang-Ups are a really good Minneapolis 90s jangle band.
My dads friend Eric shea one of the members of ozean sent me and original print signed record of theirs and a letter to me while I was in rehab that started with from a shegeezer to a Shoegazer, amazing band great guy :)
colfax abbey, Closedown, half string, deardarkhead
yeah, make more!
These are the bands I listen to more often. Ozean is just breathtaking...
We will never get another album like the Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads
pasteboard would be my personal pick!
Pasteboard is fantastic!
I thought Shoegaze hit it's peak with "I'm in Love with a German Film Star" by The Passions? Happy to be wrong!
yes, more please
We could be glad to!
Swallow-Blow…nice hidden gem..
Gracias por estás recomendaciones
¡De nada! Estoy feliz ese te gusta el video. Lo siento, no hablo mucho español jajaja
You forgot Isabel's Dream and Marine Time Keepers. Check them out.
Maybe they'll be in a future video!
love em both !
Rumskib fans: Do not despair. In late 2023 they released a "Previously Unreleased" compilation of 22 demos, remixes etc.
My favourite song of theirs is "Love At First Sight", an instrumental at just 1:52, it's one of my all-time favourite songs, an instrumental similar to Lovesliescrushing.
That's one of my favorite songs by them!! It's such a beautiful record 💙 thanks for the update!
Awesome vid. Check out Synfuels by Elusin. A Norwegian artist. Well worth a listen.
Thank you doctor! Will do :)
One of my favourite albums of the last years is Sheer's "Uneasy". Sadly, nobody else seems to care, although they surely learned quite a few lessons from the big shoegaze textbook. Sadly, only one album so far, and a few singles.
I will have to check that one out! I must admit, I haven't heard it.
I know you guys aren’t the biggest fans of the christian themes but the christian shoegaze scene is an untapped market that I listen to a lot that doesn’t get much recognition. I personally love bands like velour 100 and Morellas forest
pronounced: "oh-zay-on" 😉
Sorry about that! Thanks for the correction, and I love your music!
I almost corrected em 😂🙌🏾
Listen to spanish Dharmacide! they share some of those bands atmosphere 😶🌫️😶🌫️😶🌫️
Do Swallow count? Blow is great
I'll have to check it out!
I agree.
southpacific is awesome!
Agreed! :)
How about Miniatures - Jessamines?
I will have to check that one out!
Broken little sister is other good band that realised one only album
Not only should Stella Luna should have been on this list, they should've been at the top.
Hi Dave, this wasn't a top 10 list. We might discuss them in a future video.
Bro, you gotta understand that the Teachings of Christ/ Christ Consciousness are separate from ALL of the bullshit and manipulation tactics of "organized religion" and especially the King James bible. I am not religous one bit. I resonate more with Eastern/Buddhist/Yogi/Zen/Mystic/Mystery School teachings, just fyi.
So much manipulation has taken place. Using a Cross to symbolize Christ is somewhat similar to using a Rifle Pendant to honor the memory of JFK. Think about it.
