I’ve got the 1.5 in the earlier version, I’d be surprised if the 1.0 version is significantly more economical. Mine regularly drops into 2 cylinder mode around town . I think the 1.5 version is definitely worth the extra outlay.

For me, major, major complaint is the speed limiter option, especially in the uk where limits change frequently. Firstly, it requires changing from cruise control to limiter every time the engine is started. Secondly it’s so complicated to use I have to ask the passenger to overlook my shoulder to use.
Previous car was a 20yr old merc. Acc and limiter was on an extra stick on the steering wheel. Switch between each by pressing the tip of the stick in. Set speed by flicking the stick up or down. Didn’t have to move eyes from the road. I used the limiter constantly. I can’t use the vw version at all. If I get speed tickets I plan to send them to VW.

I want to see some some test comparison videos of how long a driver takes his eyes off the road while in heavy traffic to adjust touch screen controls compared to feeling for knobs or switches.
It is illegal tin the UK to even touch a mobile phone while driving but OK to have a greater distraction to adjust say a touch screen to (say) demist the windscreen.
Sorry, I’ll put up with the tacky interior of the older model with its safer controls.

Having owned a Golf 7.5 & 8 and having just ordered a T-Roc then the head unit being more Golf 7.5 style was a genuinely positive selling point. Not too fussed that the aircon controls are touch as its not something I tend to constantly fiddle with. I think I may end up with the older style physical wheel buttons too as i'm getting a lower-end trim (making those touch always seemed the oddest decision in VW's move to touch controls).

I would strongly advise car review sites to include the views of a qualified car mechanic. You will then find that 90% of the cars you rave about will only give problems to private buyers once out of warranty, if not before. VW's give the perception of quality, but will give most people problems.

Not that I ever had to rely on it but it helps immensely to increase trade in value. A poorly looked after car will suffer and this is probably what this reviewer refers to.

Not impressed with the company response to dieselgate in the UK or 1.5 engine issues etc. However, wanted something a little higher reasonable refinement auto not CVT and that actually goes when you put your foot down. Sadly not a Honda HRV then after many happy years with my Civic. Highly delighted with my 1.5 DSG Style. Only issue thus far badly fitted RWW which judders and doesn’t clear the area it should.

I'd probably prefer the safety net of the extra power, but we bought used based on colour mainly! The 1.0 is genuinely a nice little engine to cruise along with.

Im currently driving a hire t-roc in Croatia. I have no idea why people think this is a good car, it’s god awful. 1.0tsi is completely gutless, the gearbox is awful particularly how close reverse and 1st are, the seat is so long at 5 foot 6 my knees are not at the edge which makes things awkward. Why you’d buy this and not a puma ecoboost I’ve no idea, far far better car for less money.

Take away from this video. VW have finally does a semi decent interior (except for the slide controls) which they should have done in the first place. You compared with the wrong Skoda. A much bigger, much better equipped Karoq is THOUSANDS cheaper and has many useful; and unique features. The Kamiq mentioned in the rival to the T Cross - not this. Kamiq is WAY cheaper than a TRoc (and STILL has BIGGER boot)

Such a nice comfortable, civilised car spoiled by poor quality software that controls the DSG, and engine/turbo. I run a facelifted 1.5 Style with DSG which for 146 bhp, it drives like a 1 litre with the brakes dragging. It has a flat spot between about 45 and 70 (unless you use kick down, in which case it goes like a rocket) so book your overtaking slot well in advance. VW tell me the car is perfect and driving as designed with no errors recorded!. I would suggest if anyone is considering buying one that they take a very long test drive or hire one for a weekend to see if they can live with all its little eccentricity's. I am sorry but after only a years ownership I am looking for a replacement... NOT a VW.

BMW is a more premium brand they compete with Audi, which is one up from VW prices, i got a 2023 Troc in r-line as my daily car, it does the basics right plus I prefer more buttons and separate climate controls compared to the golf, the raised up height makes it easier for my family to get in and out.
Looks wise it’s unique but interior being bland and boring can be a good thing, because it just does all I need well…. This is all dependent on country though because here, fully loaded t roc it was cheaper than its rivals when fully loaded

Two months ago my wife was given the 1.5T DSG style as a company car. This car is so average on everything and so bad at certain points that you want to get out while driving. It doesn't resemble anything from VW, the DSG doesn't know what's going on (it's been set by a clown) and it ruins a good engine. Consumption is very high in the city and on short journeys, over 11lt/100km. Its good points are handling and brakes. All in all it's a really bad car and the worst VW I've driven since the 90's to date. FYI I have owned VW cars for 30 years straight and unfortunately it is my fault that my wife chose this pile of junk.
