The Cumberland sausage is German in it's roots. In the 1850's many German lead miners came to the Lakes as experts down the mines. They wanted their home cooking, so wanted all-meat coil sausages like the wife made. The local butchers provided what they wanted. Like the Cornish tin miners took pasties to South America.
Nice to see continuing quality. I commented to my wife before you tried the Daddies ‘I bet it’s sweeter, that’s why it’s becoming more popular’. Tea is better if milk goes in first so, pop a little milk in first if you’re not sure about the strength of the tea, then adjust afterwards. So pleased you now like black pudding (growing up 😉), my grandkids here in the USA love it (we have to buy it from an Easter European deli, but it closed last week 😱😱- they don’t sell burgers and pizza!)
You get my vote simply for promoting tinned tomatoes. I get rebuffed at B&Bs for asking for them instead of the tasteless, watery offerings called grilled.
Good point, i never tryed tinned tomatoes until it was the only option on the menu, I always preferred cherry or plum tomatoes because you can actually taste them, but the grilled tomatos are tasteless, unless you get a really good one (not often) 👍
Fresh organic tomatoes are on a different taste level to the tinned tomatoes. You just have to make sure that you avoid the tasteless rubbish sold in most supermarkets.
Just had breakfast here and it was well worth the 180 mile round trip from Beverley to catchup with family, plus its dog friendly to which is a massive plus. Highly recommended and will definitely be returning when we are next in Nottingham.
My ancestors came from Nottingham previous to the 1660s . I enjoy a Full Irish breakfast, A Southern Breakfast or a Pennsylvania Dutch Breakfast… so I guess it’s in my genes!
When using a teapot, I don't understand why people pour the milk into the cup? Pour it into the teapot so you can get your preferred consistency / strength throughout.
Hey hun that breakfast looks fantastic. Everything on the plate looks fabulous. And I see that they still have your plack up... That place looks Amazing and very clean. My score is 10 out of 10 for that breakfast I always have them biscuits in my cupboard love them xxxx
Lee that breakfast looked amazing that Cumberland sausage is Heaven on Earth. I bet Stephen A Walk on The Wild Side could have polished that off. HP sauce for me all day long, preferably from a glass bottle. I wish establishments would put 2 teabags in the pot of tea. Nowdays I carry teabags with me and add 1 to the pot. Lovely Jubbly. I do like a strong cuppa. Look forward to your NYC videos. Hope you pop to Hoboken diner. 👍😁
Hey you! ..If you park in an EV charge space you are supposed to charge and then clear off otherwise you are no different to the the diesel parked in the next space. Wish me had a place like the Quayside near us.
You bloody EVangelists, you're always moaning about something. If Lee gave you a million pounds, you'd still complain. The poor man can't do anything right by you lot. Do the world a favour; Go and sit in your rotten Tesla, and wait for the inevitable to happen.
@@MichaelCampin I think Lee ought to put a short public service announcement at the beginning of every video warning people not to buy a battery operated car.
Hi Lee , I agree tea is a contencious issue one way or another . Yorkshire tea obviously the best well stewed & strong . That looked fantastic , you can't deny that sausage was curvy . Cheers mate i'm absolutely starving now . A ps. I loved the retro tea pot .
That looked absolutely amazing. Love the Cumberland sausage; An inspired choice for a breakfast. Will definitely give this place a try. Triple thumbs up 👍👍👍
As a native Nottingonian, I’ve somehow never heard of the Quayside Cafe, I must check it out. Thanks Lee, another great video! Oh, and the 2nd week of January is the time to stop wishing folk a Happy New Year!
Gary eats recently went to my favourite desi Indian gastro pub Soho tavern in Hockley Birmingham.Absolutely agreed with his review. Lee recently I did mention for you to review one of these mixed grills from a desi pub.
Those super Zoom shoots of the food that you are cutting through are amazing, Lee!!! It's like I was eating with you. Please carry on what you do, Mac Master 👍🏿
Another cracking looking breakfast there Lee. That Cumberland sausage certainly looked the real deal. Grilled tomatoes and mushrooms nice. Perfect glacéd eggs and Daddies sauce very nice. Not a massive fan of thick bacon. Definitely decant the tea first then milk after every time. Very nice place indeed.
Really good of you to shout out other channels mate. I love Gary Eats Food too, Everyday I’m Eating is a good one too. Will give Beard Meets Food a go too. Some people forget there’s room for everyone on here. That breakfast was banging, I love a Cumberland snorker! ❤
Hi Lee. HNY goes on the day I go back to work after New Year (which varies!). I prefer Daddies as it is slightly pepperier than HP. Can't beat a Cumbrian Sausage, they are ace. Looking forward to your new adventures mate. Keep safe.
I'm a Nottingham guy who just watched my route to work! Also love Beard meets food :-) Keep up the great food content, I watch for that rather than the EV content .... but understand what you want to produce :-)
GREAT vlog as always Lee the breakfast looked as good as ever congrstulations on the 149k subs soon be 150k Lee brilliant achievement for all your hard work onwards and upwards 👉👉😎😎
Lee love your channel and the best brown sauce is definitely DADDIES not HP and it’s not widely available down south and I’ve never seen it in a pub or restaurant, well done for going with it and maybe more places will stock it.
That looked a really good breakfast. Some have commented "pricey" but they're probably comparing with one with only two bent sausages. Sausages I have here in Romania are always full of herbs and taste very much like a Cumberland sausage, especially the homemade ones I am given now and then by a friend in my village. Daddies sauce is fruitier than HP which is why I buy it when the online British food outlets in Romania have it available. 10+ from me!
Lovely looking breakfast again mate. I remember the last time you visited that establishment and it was great then. I just wish there was fried bread. I also dislike those type of tomatoes so always tinned/plum only for me. Loved that sausage. Top quality. I'm going for a 9.5/10 mate just because of what i said above. Lovely place. Thanks for sharing buddy and will catch up on some more tomorrow👍
I think you will find😎😁😆 that all the best full English breakfasts are cooked up in small cafe's in trading estates around the country, serving the workers of those estates and reputation is by word of mouth
I never liked foodie Videos, But I've been watching your EV videos and I started thinking about how I've been interested in traveling. I thought hay what better way to experience other places then through food. So Thank you for that.
You just drove past my old school on top of Nottingham/Zulu/Sherwood Rise Road (Could never remember which bit was which! ) and just 2 roads from my childhood home - bringing back memories man! (ETA this was around 4.49 on the video)
Nice to see you enjoying a meal after some of the rubbish you had to endure on Tenerife. Even better, enjoyed the drive from Cinderhill to Colwick, recognised every road....love Notts 👍
I'm a recent convert to Daddies although if I'm having fishfingers I'm quite partial to Daddies and tomato sauce. Just for presentation alone that breakfast gets an 11. Tea, then milk. Always. Cool vid.
Nottingham is a hell-hole to drive round. I don't know what time you did it but It's never been that quiet when I've been to our head office there - which I do as infrequently as humanly possible. Personally, I judge a Cafe on the quality of the Black Pudding first, Sausage second and Bacon third. Looks lush to me!
i would say after the 1st January, so probs around 2nd, as 6th january is 12th day of christmas, unless you dont see friends and family, work colleagues till after 6th january
I would say 2nd Jan unless off work until the beginning of the second week starting back - then folk would say "happy new year "to colleagues not seen yet 😊
Wow - a smart looking and welcoming café - not too busy either - i guess January quiet month. Breakfast 👍 class 10/10 You eat heartily well Lee (one up on M cbeths 😂👍💪🇬🇧
The cut of point for wishing someone happy new year is New year's Eve or for the first week of January..so a lot shorter than Christmas day when you can start buying Christmas cards in shops just after Easter 😅
Best thing McDonalds did was the breakfast on plate with scrambled egg, muffin, hash brown and beef patty, and they stupidly stopped it. The fact you didn't butter the toast straight away while it was still warm made me a bit tense. Schoolboy error Lee.
Lee wow that looks omg yum yum when I spent 2 weeks In Blackpool for Christmas & the New year I Cooked a Big BREAKFAST every Day as my fav cafe was Closed grrr & we are back in just 16 Days so for a week will be going in my fav Cafe Rolled up & will defo be having her home made cakes omg
Thank you for the kind words Lee. Much appreciated and all the best. 😀
Hey Gary. You're welcome. Keep up the great work. Love your channel. 👍🏼 ❤️

Years ago, when tea cups were made of bone China, milk was always added first to stop the cup from cracking from the heat of the tea.

But if you’re having tinned, they have to be Napolina whole plum tomatoes!
Fresh organic tomatoes are on a different taste level to the tinned tomatoes. You just have to make sure that you avoid the tasteless rubbish sold in most supermarkets.
Lee, as my dad would say: “You’ll take pattern off that plate”. He meant with all the scraping up of the sauce when you’re enjoying something.
Awesome video & really looking forward to your upcoming videos in NY! 😃

That looks an impressive breakfast, one of the best you have reviewed 👍. P.S. Happy New Year, Lee 😀
